  1. You nailed it! The stance, the paint, the details! Really need to get started on the 2 in my stash.
  2. I think this sums up perfectly why most of us engage in trading!
  3. Another fine example of your great weathering skills Chuck! Kinda surprised you didn't build a plow hook up for the front of that, it would be likely a big dump like that would be used to clear the county roads!
  4. The 1/43rd Peterbilt did have the Holmes 750 wrecker bed, nicely done but sure would have been nice to have it in 1/25. That little Ford wrecker looks like a shrunken version of the recent Revell GMC kit!
  5. Two questions based on the comments above in BOLD : 1. The optional rims, what tires would they work with? I am assuming based on others comments that they don't work with the kit supplied tires. 2. The bench seat, is it available to convert these kits? Even though I have the earlier releases, I plan on getting at least one more!
  6. Nice start to a great kit. Should look good when you are finished, looking forward to seeing it completed.
  7. Check out Scenes Unlimited, I believe Danny has a fifth wheel hitch that would work perfect for the gooseneck trailer.
  8. Okay, I started a topic and it turned into mud slinging by a former member who got banned because of previous toxic posts. I will let this stay open unless it continues, in which case it will get deleted. Learn how to play nice or go play somewhere else.
  9. If you are in need of one of these kits, Squadron is having a sale on the 1/24 and 1/35 scale versions of these trucks. I saw where the 1/24 was $53 plus shipping, not a bad price! I think the 1/35 was in the low $40's.
  10. Yep, the turn signals need to be filled in. Unless you are good with Alcad, the alternative is to send it off for chroming and by the time you factor in shipping, makes you wonder if its worth it?
  11. The 81/82 grille differs in appearance slightly, but you are on the right track. The front bumper really bugs me in this kit, I wish they would have corrected it.
  12. I saw on the Stevens International page that they have a 72 F-100 listed as "TBA". I wonder if this will be the long awaited 4WD version or another 2WD? I guess we will find out eventually!
  13. If you mean from Tower Hobbies, go to their website and look under their specials and there will be a code you type in for the free shipping when you place an order. They also will offer cash discounts on orders, like $15 off a $50 order, similar to free shipping.
  14. Well, I think the guy that complained the loudest was banned, so that is why it is not that big a deal/
  15. Great job on both of them, really like either one as they are done right! I have one in the "half way done" stage with a red that is close to Bolero Red.
  16. My dealings with Al go back at least 4 years ago, but he did deliver the product. It took him a couple of months, partly because I had a large order and also because his job (at the time at least) took him out of town and that made it difficult to cast the tires. He has some really nice stuff, but it does take a while to get it. Not sure what you are after but two other great sources, Scenes Unlimited and Fireball Modelworks offer tires and wheels along with fast service and incredible product.
  17. Yes, it's the wrecker kit with the weird looking cab on it, sort of like a mini Peterbilt. The wrecker bed is close enough to the correct length, although if you wanted to create your own bed it wouldn't be hard to do.
  18. If you can source an OOP 75 or 76 Ford pickup kit, I think it would have the camper top and larger wheels, IIRC. Danny at Scenes Unlimited is casting 8 lug wheels, might have the hub caps too.
  19. If you source the Midnite Cowboy kit, you can build the truck in the picture with the wrecker bed from that kit and the Moebius pickup.
  20. Mark, You have stated the reason why I trade kits. I have received some kits that I couldn't find locally but most of the time it is to help another modeler out. I have too many kits and won't get to building them all but if I can swap one of them for something I might build or can use to trade with someone else, then it's all good. And I believe that last sentence in your statement above was the basis for our last trade!
  21. Interesting project, nice start and looking forward to seeing it done.
  22. I'll be watching this one and anxious to see it done. That wrecker bed looks like a copy of the one in the Midnite Cowboy kit, which is a nice replica of the Holmes.
  23. That is very nice, usually don't see too many models painted white but yours looks spot on like the brochure!
  24. I have enjoyed trading kits and have been able to get rid of stuff that I wasn't going to build, but wondered what others thought about the cost of trading? I just boxed up a kit and shipped it off via the post office for $7.75 and wondered how places like Tower Hobbies can afford to ship $25 worth of kits and stuff for free and still make money? I have thought about selling off some of my kits and am worried that with shipping averaging $7-10, how can I expect to make any money if the kit and shipping could be $20-30? How do the people who sell on eBay manage to make money selling with the cost of shipping? I have had great luck going to swap meets and unloading kits, but there are only a couple of them around here and I would like to sell more sooner. I welcome comments and suggestions.
  25. That is a nice looking truck, and the whole set up is pretty nice too.
