  1. Thanks, Pierre - I'm sure yours will be great! Tires are just the kit tires. Decals I can't quite remember - maybe Fred Cady, but I keep a few different sheets around that have the Goodyear Blue Streak circles. I know Indycals makes some now: https://www.indycals.net/decals/tires/blueringtires.html Anyway, build thread here from a few years back, and once again, good luck with yours. I'll be watching.
  2. Maybe too late at this point for you, but if you can get hold of the a-arms that HRM makes for this kit, they help correct the front ride height. In hindsight, I wish I had lowered the rear a little when I built mine.
  3. Simply stunning. What everyone else said already, plus I'm really enjoying the variety of his builds!
  4. I dug out what I think is my original issue 427 from 1993. These are the door panels in that kit: The plate near the top says "Fairlane 500".
  5. Well done - I love seeing these getting built, especially with all the little changes and improvements.
  6. Nice builds, Dave! I've got the Mustang GT on the bench now - building it as the "red" Miller version, using the Speedline decals.
  7. Cool concept - love the side by side comparison!
  8. Excellent - clever idea and well done!
  9. There's a whole lot of NASCAR history involved in answering in this question.
  10. For what it's worth, at one time Replicas & Miniatures was carrying an Auburn panel (RH-508) designed for the '32 roadster. I don't see it listed in their latest catalog, but there is a "dash w/ 3 & 5 hole panel" (RH-507).
  11. Here's a few from the other day: The one that got away - couldn't quite catch up to it - was a Delorean done up in full Back to the Future mode. Just another day in Los Angeles.
  12. Right, those are completely different kits from the Motorcraft kit mentioned previously.
  13. Don't forget, that original IMSA Mustang was updated for the SCCA Trans Am Mustang (Roush, JPS, Whistler) and Camaro (Hot Wheels, Rain-X, Sunoco).
  14. M&S closed in 2021 - Mark retired. Art Laski bought up some of his remaining stock. https://groups.io/g/gpma/topic/m_s_hobbies_closing/86754801?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate/sticky,,,20,0,0,86754801,previd=1641491146214160283,nextid=1636592385683998225&previd=1641491146214160283&nextid=1636592385683998225
  15. Thanks, Ray. Looks like you're off to an interesting start on this one. I always felt like the kit had some other creative potential in addition to a replica version. Just curious, what parts were you missing? Gets me to wondering if Atlantis has the tooling for this one. Maybe with the interest in (and hopefully sales of) the Mooneyes dragster, we might see this kit again?
  16. Very cool - I love this kit! One thing I'd recommend is cutting off the front part of the belly pan just ahead of the front axle and attaching that to the upper body. It makes getting the body off and on just a little trickier, but it's more prototypically correct and allows you to eliminate the seam in the nose. While you're at it, you can also cut off the sides and the rear of the belly pan and attach those too! Just do a lot of test fitting, of course.
  17. Sorry, not an answer to your original question, but I thought some of the folks here might enjoy seeing what the Sonny & Cher cars looked like in 2005.
  18. Getting way off topic here, but Doug was a member of the Los Angeles Shelby club and owned a GT-350. Despite being a "rock star" he was a friendly and humble guy.
  19. Incredible work so far - I look forward to seeing more!
  20. Thanks. No idea if the yellow I used is "right" - I just mixed a few different MCW yellows I had around until I got something that looked reasonably close. I looks a little different in person than it does in the photos. What also doesn't show very well in the photos is that I airbrushed some clear gold along the lower part of the body in an attempt to replicate the paint job the real car has.
  21. That's a good looking one - thanks for sharing!
  22. At least the recent re-issue gives you decals for the valve covers.
  23. Beautifully built and photographed. I too have this kit in the stash - it looks to be well engineered and crisply molded. I'm always glad to see 1/24 scale F1 cars even though they're pretty tiny.
  24. Thanks for the compliments, everyone! I really don't think the kit is all that bad, especially if judged in the context of the era it was released in. The tooling is showing it's age, but I didn't have any major issues with assembly apart from making things more complicated of my own accord. However, in looking at my finished model, as well as other Piranha builds, and comparing them to various photos of the real car, I've started to think that AMT didn't really get the proportions of the car correct. The body height, especially at the front, looks too tall to me and kind of robs the model of that really aggressive, raked look that the car should have. Maybe if I ever build another Piranha (ha!) I'll try to fix it - but of course that would really entail a major re-engineering of the whole model.
  25. The old adage is that it's worth what you're willing to pay, but when I'm thinking of buying something on eBay, I always check out the "sold" listings (scroll down and check the box on the left). Sellers are free to ask whatever they want for an item, but at least that gives you an idea what other buyers are actually paying.
