  1. Very nice! They make quite the eye-catching set! Why? The AMT kit interior, chassis, engine, etc. are quite serviceable. Just build what comes in the box. Well done and model on!
  2. Very interesting! Last week I bought from the same guy a never-painted body from the Craftsman kit for $45. And of course mine includes the hood. I've been collecting Skylark bits and pieces for quite a while and shouldn't have much trouble getting a complete car of some sort together from it.
  3. I've had better luck with FolkArt than the cheaper Apple Barrel. Have only used it on small stuff and details, not yet on a whole car body, though I'm thinking of trying it soon. My Walmart is pretty much out of FolkArt. Dunno if it's discontinued or if like some other things, the virus crisis is interfering with supply. Hobby Lobby still has it though.
  4. Ya just can't get enough '60s Chevies in this section! Well done again and model on!
  5. Fabulous! Can't get enough '60s Chevies in this category! Model on!
  6. Very nice, very clean build! Can't wait to see your NEXT project! Well done and model on!
  7. Very interesting! I've had an idea to build something along those lines for a while now, but with more of a late '60s vibe.
  8. There's a lot of "Ford vs Chevy" going on in the Gun World. Always has been. Always will be.
  9. Wow, fabulous score! There are at least a couple I'd try to restore/rescue as true survivors. Others are suitable for a full strip and rebuild.
  10. That's a CLEAN one. You wouldn't believe the amount of junk you can bolt onto a rifle like that. And some people do.
  11. Naw, cig smoke wouldn't yellow all the way through, and it would come off with Windex, possibly even soap and water.
  12. Very cool! Yah, ARs are pretty much the Legos of the gun world. I've built three, a dedicated .22, a 5.56 HBAR midlength, and a retro old-school one that usually has a .22 LR conversion set in it but can go back to 5.56 in about 20 seconds.
  13. If anyone would have a set of these instructions, it would be Mark Gustavson at the Model Car Museum. He loves this kind of stuff.
  14. Taarna was so realistic because she was created by Rotoscope animation. Somewhere--probably on the box set--I've seen the film of the live model/actress used to create Taarna. (I think some of this footage might be available on the Net somewhere, if you want to look for it.) Taarna's face looks nothing like the real actress, however. I always thought her face was modeled on Stevie Nicks.
  15. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Thanks for the kind words, Rustybill. I'm using the frame from the Comet AWB, because I like the front suspension better, but had to add extra frame rails because rear suspension front mounting points are molded on the underside of the interior floor.
  17. PREACH, My Brother! Can I get a AY-men from the choir?
  18. AMT '72 Nova, but you'll have to fill the axle hole in the block, not a big deal. If you don't have one, I'm sure I can rustle up a spare from the several parts kits I have.
  19. Yup. The light and non-light grille tips were different. The kit got this right for the subject car.
  20. Good call on the custom front end! Improvise, adapt, overcome! I'm rebuilding an old HUG model, but not as HUG, just a fictional rear-engine Cuda. I don't like how high the front end sits on the kit chassis, so I'm planning to move the front axle from underneath the leaf springs to on top of them. If you want to get your slick Corsair down, it would work for you, too.
  21. But I'M not gone, and I want my MAGAZINES!
  22. Just spent about an hour and a half color-sanding the clear lacquer on the Mustang body with #2000, wet. In my experience, every minute color sanding is equal to five to six minutes of polishing. The body now looks to be ready for polishing, which I'll start tomorrow.
  23. That chart is kind of generic for GM cars. On 1G Camaro, the underside of the floor pan is usually primer gray, with the front subframe in the semigloss black. There would be slight body color underspray on the primered floor pan, but NOT on the subframe, as the subframe wasn't yet mounted when the body was painted.
  24. Thanks! Great idea, do it! Thanks! I'm not above tweaking things to make them a little better in these rescues. Thanks!
