  1. No. All the big blocks were Chevy Engine Red. Also, at least some of the small blocks of the late '60s were CER. I had one in my '69 Camaro. The 283 in my parents' '59 Bel Air was orange. Orange-orange, like the Testor color. I believe the small blocks of the early to mid '60s were orange, but I don't know when they started going to the CER. Been trying to find out for years.
  2. Randy, you have my email--send me the list when you have it ready.
  3. You're right, Tim, we could use new kits of any or all of those cars. Even reissues of some older ones that HAVE been kitted (such as '70 GTO) would be most welcome. While we're waiting, some on your list can be done with a little work, a little ingenuity, some lowering of standards (in some cases), and three resources: *Aftermarket (resin) *Rebuildable/glue bomb old builds and "distressed" promos (assuming here that few of us can afford to whip out triple digits for unbuilt originals) *Affordable diecasts For example, MCW now makes a nice and reasonably priced '65 4-4-2. I believe the '64 Cutlass and '64 Chevelle are offered by at least one resincaster. At one time, JoHan '70 4-4-2s weren't uncommon, and parts to convert it to just about any '70-'72 coupe version you could imagine were available. Not sure if this is still true, but I bought off eBay an AMT '70 4-4-2 and when it came, there were extra goodies in the box indicating somebody had a Rallye 350 conversion in mind (as do I). Welly does a very acceptable (if slightly undersized at about 1/26) diecast '68 4-4-2. With a modification to the roof, their '65 GTO is a lot better looking than any reissue of AMT's. Their '71 Chevelle SS convertible isn't perfect but it's filling that slot on my shelf fairly nicely until something better comes along. And their slightly undersized (again, about 1/26) '70 GSX and '69 GTO Judge (with exposed headlights, no less!) look better on my 1/25 shelf than their 1/24 Monogram counterparts. And so forth, and so on. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome! Drive On!
  4. Very nice! It's fun to just slap one of the old classic crocks together right out of the box every now and then, isn't it? Well done and model on!
  5. I believe at the time this kit appeared, AMT and MPC were in fact unified under the same roof, and this kit was done by basically the same team that did the AMT '66 Nova. It was just branded MPC for some reason, perhaps just to keep the brand name alive. Just didn't want anyone to think that this kit had anything in common with the suboptimal old MPC kits of the '60s and '70s, many of which are still being reissued to this day.
  6. Very cool, thanks for the updates! I have one of these Flintstone flared bodies so of course I'll be following along on this. Drive on!
  7. Sweet score! Can't wait to see you bring it back to life.
  8. And yet another cover of Jolene. Hard to argue with this one:
  9. Sure was--I have one, or parts of one.
  10. Revell EMPI Imp Revell '68 Corvette roadster Revell '67 Corvette roadster Revell '63 Corvette coupe snapper--actually two different reds on that one, a solid and a pearl/metallic. I built one of each. AMT '70 Corvette coupe snapper Revell '57 Chevy snapper Monogram '30 Ford Woody wagon I think the MPC Dick Harrell '69 Camaro funny car might have been molded in red, but I'm not 100% sure. Wasn't at least one issue of the Monogram '64 GTO molded in red?
  11. Sweet! The first one of these I see at Rite Aid is MINE!
  12. Very clean build, very nice!
  13. Very nice, very clean!
  14. Very clean work. Well done and model on!
  15. That looks like a Riviera eating an '80 Firebird whole.
  16. Well, since apparently we're now showing our old builds of the MPC '67 Vette, here's mine:
  17. Oddly, the heads at the top of the page don't specify cars: Model Building Questions and Answers Follow 14 Do you have a specific modeling question? Wondering how to...? Need help? Suggestions? Looking for answers? Ask here.
  18. Join Hyperscale and post that pic and I'll bet someone will know the exact sheet. In fact, someone might offer to GIVE you those decals if they have them and aren't using them. https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/hyperscale/plane-talking-hyperscale-s-aircraft-scale-model-di-f149674/
  19. Thanks Mark. I thought it was probably the reissue. And you're right about Lindberg, not Testor, too, of course.
  20. I've added you to the list for the next update. Think you can GITTER DONE in about six weeks?
  21. You're welcome to jump back in, if you're sure you can finish by the end of the year. To avoid letting projects drag on forever, we now don't let a model run more than two consecutive rounds. I'll put you on the update list if you want.
  22. I bought something similar--smaller sheets, smaller package--at Michael's not long ago, in the candy-wrapping section. But there's nothing particularly special about it. It seems to be identical to cheap, generic kitchen foil on a roll you can buy at any Walmart or supermarket.
  23. Can anyone identify the source of these decals? Bought this glue bomb IMC or Testor Cougar II and will be rescuing it. Trying figure out if it's an original IMC or a Testor reissue. I figure if the decals are old, it's an original. The paint looks like old AMT Burnt Orange Metallic to me, but it might be something newer I'm not familiar with.
  24. Very nice looking! Well done and model on!
