  1. What he said! Well done and model on!
  2. Very very nice! Well done and model on!
  3. Take a ri-yi-yi-yi-ide, on HEAVY METAL....
  4. My clock radio is set to a "Christian rock" or "Contemporary Christian" station. Not sure why--just a coincidence, I guess. This morning when it woke me up, they were playing several really nice tunes in a row. I have NO idea what these songs were or who performs them. Overall, from what I've heard, the music in this genre is surprisingly good. I might have to actually give them a conscious listen sometime.
  5. Fastest in America is pretty much a JJ and his gang joint--they're racing against other crews from around the country. Now that you mention it, there are very few of the NPK racers who participate in FIA. This could explain why the 405 has never been on FIA, but NOLA and Texas seem to participate in both. Hmmmmm....
  6. It's a stretch to call Ryan Fellows a "star" of the show. He's been more like a "guest extra" in maybe a few episodes. That's why you can't place him. I couldn't either until I googled him. I've never considered JJ "fake," but he does have a certain schtick that seems to work for him. I LOLed at your Sister Wives Memphis comment. The Lovely Mrs. Snake once said she didn't understand why I was watching the Street Outlaws shows. I told her to concentrate on the people and the drama, like the shows she enjoys: "Think of it as Real Housewives of Oklahoma with loud, fast, dangerous, cool cars."
  7. Remember, this is "reality" TV. I wouldn't be 100% sure that all those incidents with the cops weren't scripted.
  8. I haven't seen any "running from the cops" on there in years, if ever. It's pretty obvious that the whole thing is legally sanctioned in some form or another. And you can bet insurance premiums have been pad.
  9. Really? Memphis Street Outlaws used to start every episode with JJ da Boss saying, somberly, "Every time you get in that race car, you know tonight might be the night you die." (And last season on America's List, both JJ and his lovely wife Tricia very nearly did.)
  10. You make a good point. Or, as the late great prophet Sam Kinison would say, "It never stops. IT NEVER STOPS! OOHHHHH-OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
  11. My computer won't open my beloved AOL browser. Spent an hour on the phone with AOL tech support to no avail. They know what I need but they can't install it on my Windows 8. I'll have to upgrade. The Lovely Mrw. Snake was having loud and physical nightmares last night. Didn't get much sleep. I'm pretty "irked" over something else, too, but won't mention it. Many of you can probably imagine what.
  12. The JJ episode went about exactly as I thought it would--and it was the best one so far. There were several announcement that "cast member" Ryan Fellows had been killed in a crash on Sunday. Didn't recognize the name so I had to google him. Apparently right now they're filming new season of Fastest in America. Fellows was from California and drove a gold Datsun 240Z. I can't remember if we've seen that car on the show before or now.
  13. Local Toy Show day. Resisted the urge to buy any more kits or glue bombs, but on the way out spotted a new vendor with some diecasts. Ended up leaving with a couple of Welly-grade sports cars, a BMW and an Alfa Romeo from the '50s or early '60s, and a fairly nice looking '57 Nomad, $30 for all three.
  14. The Deco Color Premium works VERY well. It's at least 90% as "chromy" as Molotow and seems to be more durable to boot. Dries quicker, too--about 1 hour instead of overnight. $3.99 at Walmart and I noticed that Wally has them back in stock the last couple weeks. Grab a few while you can!
  15. Finally checked out my local CVS today. Nothing close to 1/24. Full rack of smaller stuff, I couldn't decide if it was 1/32 or 1/43. Either way, not my party.
  16. Just when you think there's not quite ENOUGH fru-fru junk on a '58 Chevy....
  17. My girlfriend of the '80s drove a Midget and wanted a model of it. I built her one out of an AMT Sunbeam Tiger. Didn't do a full, accurate conversion, just made a few small changes but it ended up "good enough" and she loved the stupid thing. Good luck with your project.
  18. Don't remember if I ever filed that thread with all of them, but here are five I rescued in 2020:
  19. Yes, a little bit of a PITA, especially if you have to strip the body to do it, but I think you'll be pleased with the improvement. And once you've done them, they'll be done for the rest of time.
  20. The wheels look like the ones in the MPC '68 Corvette annual.
  21. It looks like you're trying to do a nice job with this model, so let me point you to my tutorial on how to do a few easy, fast modifications that add a lot of accuracy to the body of this kit:
  22. In my state and the state south, Rite Aids became Walgreens. But there's still a Rite Aid in the state north of me, and as of 2 months ago they still carried the 1/24 Welly diecasts. Last one I got was a black Porsche 911 Turbo.
  23. I've only ever seen 1/32 diecasts at CVS, but on your advice I'll take another look next time I'm there.
  24. They'll all be serious contenders. Kye will probably have the least $$$ whipout in his, as he started with a car he already owned and built the engine himself. (That's if you don't count the false start $900 Mustang and $16K Camaro, plus whatever he spent on the new Ford engine.) Looks like the next episode will cover Axman's build, which might be a late '30s Chevy or something. No Street Outlaws next week, as it's Shark Week on Discovery. If you don't care about sharks, you might as well forget that channel all week.
  25. What he said. The AMT kit hasn't been reissued in a while, but if you can get by with a "curbside," Revell's commonly available "snapper" is not only more accurate in shape, it's easier to build as well. I've built two of them (plus two of the matching coupes) and recommend this kit every chance I get.
