  1. Don't hold your breath waiting for New-Fu. The Lovely Mrs. Snake took advantage of my prolonged absence to clear off my model workbench, just throwing all projects, tools, and materials into several large boxes willy-nilly with NO thought given to...well, anything. It might be a minute before I can go through all the boxes and dig out the stuff I'd need for even a basic diecast Snake-Fu. Unclear whether I'll get to complete another plastic model this year or not.
  2. What he said. Exactly what he said. Another idea would be to obtain a cheap, common MPC '60 Vette and swap on THAT body.
  3. Oh my, this build goes right to my heart! VERY much like a lot of the stuff I do. You are doing great considering what you started with. Drive on and please keep us posted!
  4. Your biggest problem will be to get the front end to fit and look like it belongs. Some just give up and display the nose "flipped" but I molded mine in and am semi-satisfied with how it came out. It might be worth your time and money to see if you can find a built glue bomb with a 1-piece body on eBay or something and swap bodies. I can tell you I've bought several copies of this kit just for the parts, but I have NO desire to EVER try to build that 2-piece body again.
  5. Looking VERY good! Drive on!
  6. Looking very, VERY good! Drive on!
  7. Agree with this completely. Some years ago I painted a '69 4-4-2 body with Model Master Burgundy over Rust primer. When I got the color I wanted, I polished out the body and got exactly the "blotchy" appearance you're talking about. I airbrushed two or three more coats of the Burgundy, followed by a couple coats of Clear Top Coat enamel. I then polished out the clear for a perfect appearance. So my advice is: 1. Black primer. 2. Burgundy, as many coats as needed for an even color. 3. Clear topcoat. 4. Polish topcoat.
  8. Local toy show day. Got an open but complete Bruce Larsen '74 Vega for $22, built '65 El Camino missing only hood and headlights for $3. Stopped at Rite Aid on the way home and snagged a Welly black whale-tail Porsche of some kind for $12. Not sure what it is, but I'm pretty sure I don't have a whale-tail and I know I don't have a black one.
  9. That's Zip Tie. Precious has been driving Kaiser Blade, the the '65 Malibu, for the last two or three seasons.
  10. Okay, I've been trying as best I can to keep up with this, even in hospital rooms. VERY gratifying to see JJ Da Boss sitting in the #3 slot, especially seeing how he started the season. I wouldn't bet a huge amount of money against him hitting #1 for at least one week, though I doubt he'll finish the season there. Also very gratifying to see Bobby "Also Ran" Ducote hanging on to the #1 slot for week after week. Beginning to think he's been slow-playing his car's performance for years now--he always seems to make some kind of statement about "I think this thing's on its last legs, but I'm gonna turn the b**** up some more and send it." Also gratifying to see Lee Roberts hanging in the Top Four week after week. Also, Precious's Nova had me confused for several weeks. I thought Tricia's Zip Tie was damaged beyond repair, and officially pulled from the list by JJ, but now it looks like Precious is driving it, and she didn't start with it at #25. I've listened carefully but in vain for some explanation but the only logical conclusion at this point is that the MSO crew built up a second red '67 Nova, a Zip Tie lookalike. Or did I miss something? Also, last year, after Brandon James' wreck, they brought in another car to fill the list. I don't remember them doing that this year when Tricia came off the list. Are they running a 24-car show here?
  11. Mr. Metallic, I haven't forgotten you, even though I've been out of action with a stroke for most of the last two months. One minor problem is that The Lovely Mrs. Snake took advantage of my time out of the house to "clean up" my modeling bench. I don't think she threw anything away but I need to find the project and then a box suitable for shipping. It might be a couple more weeks, but I'll try to Gitter Done for you. Also, OldCarFan27, I haven't forgotten my promise to send you the rebuildable glue bomb Ala Kart. I happen to know where this one is, but again, I'll have to find a box for it. And Spencer 84, I haven't forgotten my promise to send you a couple of original Monkeemobile Dean Jeffries Custom fender emblems. I'll get to all of these as soon as I can. Sorry about the delay.
  12. This sign was in the bathroom of the health care facility I busted out of today after nearly 5 weeks. Can someone explain to me what it means, and why it reads from right to left? What is the thing on the far left, and why is it apparently okay?
  13. Try the Walmart generics. They're not bad.
  14. I thought I was the only one who did that!
  15. What he said! Well done and model on!
  16. 1944 VW Type 166 Schwimwagen: Meyers Manx:
  17. Did I see things right? Did JJ roll his car onto and over the top of Zip Tie? I got tears in my eyes listening to what Murder Nova said about JJ.
  18. That crash was hard to watch, even though you knew it was coming. Gotta admit, it was hella spectacular--pretty sure it was the worst since the Chief and Chucky.
  19. Very nice! Where did you get the hood? I need a few of those. Well done and model on!
  20. Ford stole the late '67 GT350 front end for the '69 Mustang. AMC stole the '71-'74 Javelin front end from the '69 Shelby.
  21. I always thought the '63-'65 Riviera was one of the most influential designs of all time. The roof--there was nothing else like it in '63--showed up on the '64-'65 GM A-body 2-doors, and then on the '66-'67 Nova hardtops. The front fender tips were copied on the '67 Impala, and to a lesser degree the '68, and then on the '68-72 Nova. And these were all great looking cars!
  22. I guess she won't be catching George again.
