  1. MM Metalizer as a primer isn't necessary or even desirable unless you're doing candy colors (transparent). Just use your favorite primer and drive on.
  2. Very different, very interesting, very very cool! But I can't be the only one here wondering how one gets in and out of it? Perhaps the body hinges up a la funny car/Orange Crate?
  3. The "Don Yost" method (which some of us were using decades before he named it) works fine with regular Testor enamels, and will probably work with other petroleum-based enamels. Dunno about "Sunnyside lukewarm" lacquer thinner. I've always just used whatever cheap generic lacquer thinner is on the shelf at the local hardware store or Walmart when I needed some. Currently still working on a gallon I bought about a decade ago. I've used a lot of MM Clear Top Coat enamel, and will still use what I have left on paint jobs when I'm not concerned about yellowing. My current favorite clearcoat is Rustoleum "High Lustre Coating" Clear Lacquer, which I get at Walmart. I've posted here several times about how to use it and get great results.
  4. I know I'm very, very late to this party, but I only recently discovered this song thanks to John B. Wells and his Ark Midnight/Caravan to Midnight radio program. JBW comes up with some really good stuff!
  5. Now I'm watching Queen of the South. I'm into the second season.
  6. Agree completely. If you're not clear-coating, wait for the first color enamel to cure thoroughly (3 days should be enough) and polish it out, then mask, apply the second color, wait for cure again, then polish that out before removing the masking. If you're clear-coating, just mask for the second color, shoot it, un-mask when it cures, shoot the whole thing in clear, and then polish the clear.
  7. The Lovely Mrs. Snake doesn't automatically disagree with me, but she doesn't believe me about anything unless she get confirmation from any random stranger.
  8. Great subject and a real nice model on it. Well done and model on!
  9. Reminds me of what radio host Dana Loesch often says after reading some news item or other: "See, this is why the aliens roll up their windows and lock their doors when they fly by Earth."
  10. I only own Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl, and that only because my summer of '74 girlfriend (who bore a certain resemblance to Jill St. John, just to paint the picture) told me once it was her favorite make-out music, "especially the one about us and them." I stopped and bought it on my way home from our date that night, and had it loaded up and ready to go for our next date. Wow, she wasn't kidding. She REALLY dug it! To this day I can't hear any song from that album without thinking fondly of her. Personally, I always thought Savoy Brown's Lookin' In was the ultimate make-out album. Ironically, I only bought the album because of the way-cool Jack Davis cover art. I'd never heard of the band before, or any of their music. Best "blind" investment I ever made.
  11. I feel ya my friend. I drove a '65 Special 2DS in high school and my first two years of college and would love to find another one. I've been looking for any '64 or '65 HT or 2DS with no luck. IMHO the Buicks were by far the best looking of all the GM '64-'65 A-bodies. (The '65 Chevelle and '65 GTO tie for second place.)
  12. Thanks! I decided that at those prices, I needed a couple more '65 Elkys and Tiger Sharks! Who knows if or when these will ever be run again, and I've learned not to count on Ollie's.
  13. Not sure about that. I'm looking at pics of the original and it doesn't seem to be a '65, but a '62-'64 body. In that case, this roof is wrong.
  14. Put me down for two! To START!
  15. That's a common kit, you shouldn't have much trouble finding one. So you got that goin' for ya.
  16. My favorite was his line about about you could join the "disability minority" at any time. "You're just one bad bike ride away. Isn't that right, Simon?" Even Simon seemed to like that line.
  17. Thanks for the headsup! Finally got around to watching it. He advanced to the semifinals, too, and Simon told him he has a chance of winning the whole thing. Good for him!
  18. Google translate says it means "not going." Close enough?
  19. Different and therefore interesting. Drive on!
  20. Ugly. But still better looking than about 2/3 of the cars on the road today.
  21. I love models built out of leftovers, spare parts, and castoff junk. Well done and model on!
  22. Wow. Just...uhhhhh...wow.
  23. Watched it today on your sayso. Not the worst movie I've ever seen (or even lately), but far from the best. Kind of a PC-ized Death Wish or Rambo. You're right about the twist at the end. I didn't see it coming, either. That was definitely the most interesting thing about the movie!
  24. I have an original flat-box Marlin I got in the '60s and started. Got as far as painting it. I really need to dig that out and finish it up one of these days.
