Happy Valentines Day for Car Modelers!
stitchdup replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Remember to save the clear lids from some of the chocs too, it works well for making new glass and some of it doesn't fog when superglue is used -
There's a pretty nice looking scania tow truck that often goes on the boat I work on, always with one of the local buses as they send us the buses that are near finished their working lives. Its pretty impressive how well one of the drivers can handle it, reversing it with a bus still atached down the ramp thats maybe 2ft wider than it, the other driver just drives the buses on seperately

OSSA Dirt Bike Story.....Miracle???
stitchdup replied to DPNM's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Love the op's post, stories like this have that little special extra when they are connected to the items already. Where I live in scotland we call them scramblers instead of dir bikes but they are really popular. A couple of local farmers and one of the building companies have built tracks that are completely free to use (at your own risk due to insurance) and there is an annual beach race that attracts some of the top british and european riders. The dirt bike brands you guys get in the usa are mostly different to those we use although my sister has restored a triumph cub that had been modified for dirt, back to original road spec but I think I would have left it in dirt as it told a story. I think there was a racer from here too in the late 80s/early 90s called roy twatt (an unfortunate name in the uk( -
Revell "Contacta" cement ?
stitchdup replied to Goodwrench3's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I find the revell glue a little runnier than the humbrol and also slower setting. To keep my needle clean i have a thin diameter bit of florist wire in the tube so when it clogs I just remove the wire and the clog comes out with it. I prefer the humbrol glue for small parts due to its being thicker but revell is easier to find for me these days -
You are correct sir, according to wikipedia it was greece that manufactured them from ckd kits but with a lot of local parts. That anadol coupe is a kinda pretty little car, reminds me of an alfa in some ways though it was probably more reliable than that era of alfa

turkey got the old 50s british vauxhall dies if i remember right, it looks an awful lot like a tri 5 chevy. I think they got some other british dies too but used russian engines possibly.

I know what you mean, I bought a hasegawa pick up to combine with the panel then decided it was too nice to cut up, but since then I got a couple of started kits that I dont feel too bad cutting up

I'll be getting a couple of those vans, it'll save me filling the windows on the versions I've got already

Raised details, like trim and badges
stitchdup replied to Luc Janssens's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The chrome sticky stuff they make fingernail masks with would be perfect for badges and pretty close to scale for thickness. Some of them have a surprising amount of detail so heving badges cut out of them shouldn't be too difficult for the manufacturers to do. The stuff is more pliable than the trim included with the tamiya mk2 jags and sticks pretty well -
I would say the revell is better as some of the fit of the mpc was little loose though neither has a very nice engine, though both kits have the exhaust and rear axle moulded as one. If you want it in 1/25 you would need the mpc as the revell is 1/24. The size difference between them is very noticable, I f I mind correctly there a half inch difference in width and about an inch in length

Sketch pads, never knew these existed
stitchdup replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Cool ideas among them, I might have to build some of them, probably the italivette first as I think I have everything needed for it already -
Nice scores, I dont have any of the other kits but the box art on the monte does it no favours, the kit is much better than the art

Looking good GTFan, I'm really enjoying watching this come together and learning the pitfalls. When I get to mine I'll be using your build as a guide

Got this yesterday (pic from internet) I also got some sprue/pe cutters and metal colour paints from one of the warcraft/warhammer type shops (note to self- do not go in there when they have a game on)
