the first question is what type of printer is it? chances are its going to be an fdm printer which isn't as suitable for what we do. a resin/pla printer is better for what we do. files can be found on cults3d or many other sites. size is personal preference mostly but back spacing and mounts will depend on many factors such as is it a 1 or more piece wheel? do you want it to work with kit brakes or aftermarket? are you using kit tyres or printed? some files have mounts while others are just a flat back but universal mounts are available free for the japanese kit wheels and they are easy to adapt for revell etc.

cya were the last 3 letters of one of my old vw registration plates so my sister called it the bye-bye car

I'm on an island in scotland so i started with duplicolour auto acrylics and only recently got a local source for tamiya. I'm sure other folk can recomend hobby brands better than me. your railroad paints might be a good place to start since you have experience with those brands and its very likely the same stuff in a different jar/tin. if you have any tabletop gaming type shops nearby they can be a source of paints too. but if you are unsure the left over sprues make great places to test if a paint will work for you or is compatible with your primer or other paint. I have seen some of the aussie guys using a local to you brand called sms possibly. if you look through coolhand's threads he used them on some models and it looked like good paint.

the primer is still there, its just absorbing colour from the plastic. you dont really need a scratch test as thats more work to fix. a coat of silver will let you use any colour over it without the bleed thru being a problem. the tailgate on this was orange plastic and turned the primer peach but silver before the white fixed it

It just takes practise. some paint brands can be better than others to help achieve good paitjobs but in reality practise will get you better results than brand names. I've seen great paintjobs from awful paint and i've seen awful paintjobs from good brands. the best advice is probably stick to one type and brand of paint to begin with then add others as you progress. also just because 2 paints are the acrylic, it doesn't mean they will be compatible. and enamel paint should always be used last if you are mixing paint types as it will react under other paints but can be used over them, though i would stick to acrylics at the start. it generally has a faster drying time and is a little more forgiving to work with than enamels. enamels can still be soft weeks later while acrylic should be safe to handle after only a couple of hours, though i tend to leave them overnight.

Dishonest ads on the forum
stitchdup replied to JPL-ACE's topic in Forum News and Questions (formerly: How To Use This Board)
the benefit of the forum over facebook or you tube is as a reference. i know i use it to look at other builds of kits i'm building, even if i'm building a completely different style. you can usually zoom in a pic but not a video and good luck finding anything twice on facebook. my facebook is nothing but archeology when i'm only in model groups so i only use it to message mum. if she would learn to carry her phone i'd never use it, lol -
are you sure its not an over active thyroid? lol

Monogram '39 Chevy coupe street rod, comments
stitchdup replied to fiatboy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
its a kit that really should have a load of transkits available. it really wouldn't take much to get most of the period gm cars from them. most of the bodies and fenders can pass for each other so it would only take grilles and hoods to get pretty close -
