International RF-190
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks KJ! Since the rings were cast into the fenders, I painted the entire light and ring area with a Moltown pen. I then used the headlight lenses from the 4300 kit. -

Looks great! I thought that I was the only one who made air valves out of carburetors. ? -
I’m sure that this will vary some depending on what year model you’re wanting to replicate. This is from a 1980 brochure: This is from a 1967 brochure:

Amazing build all the way around. Make sure you have all your permits in order before starting down the road with that beast. Excellent work! This was a pleasure to watch come together! -

This began with a fiberglass cab from an unknown caster. It sits on the 4300 chassis from the latest issue. This one is curbside but it is powered by a IH Red Diamond 450 gas engine. Thanks to Charles Rowley for the IH R-190 emblem decals.

Looks awesome Vince! Top notch detail work! Question; you seem to be knowledgeable of these engine. Dimensionally is there any external size difference between the E engine, the C16 and the C15? Also the C12 has a similar design but having not seen one in person I’m not sure if there is an external physical size difference. I realize that the C. I.D. Is different but I wasn’t sure if it was just bore and stroke. I thought if they were externally the same size that it would open the door for slight modification to convert Jamie’s E engine or his C15 to a C16 or a C12. Thanks, Brian -

Looks great so far!! Nice work on the trailer! -
Truly amazing! Your attention to detail is second to none. The weathering looks spot on! I especially like the hose going to the compressor. It looks like the real thing with the paint coming of showing the pattern in the hose. This looks like the real thing! So what kind of oil are you going to run in this thing? Maybe Rotella?

Thanks for all the comments guys! Thanks! I was actually going to use Union Pacific yellow but ended up using Chicago & Northwestern yellow. I actually found a picture of one of these with this style wheels on it. It is possible that it was an r200 though. -
Your work always looks Amazing! This is no exception! Top notch work indeed. Beautiful build!

Model Truckin Decals.
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to James Maynard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Make sure to use warm water. The water will cool off pretty quickly, so keep it warm. I’ve always had to use setting solution to get the decals to lay down on the trailer ribs. Be careful the decals will tear very easily. If you use decal set, be sparing at first to make sure the ink doesn’t bleed on the decals. Don’t ask how I know this can happen. ? -
