  1. Well, I could say, "That Floats My Boat" but I'd better not...... ?
  2. On a more serious note.... I killed our 12 yr old Gas Dryer last Weekend. Accidently fed it a Bic Ballpoint pen. Blue Spots everywhere. Ruined 3 white T-shirts, and 2 dress shirts. Fortunately, the rest of the load was Blue Jeans, so no harm there. After trying all the "guaranteed" fixes from the interwebs, (Hydrogen peroxide, Goo Gone, Dishsoap, Magic Eraser, WD40, Bleach and a tablespoon of California Ethanol Blended Premium Gasoline) Nothing moved the ink. Magic Eraser, got the faint blue film between the spots, but did not fade the spots themselves. So, Time to Bite the Bullet, and go get a new dryer. Off to the Local (Non Chain) Hometown Giant Appliance Emporium. Things have gotten better for them as the showroom was full of new Items. Chose my dryer, and put it on credit. On the way out, My Daughter who drives me everywhere since I can't drive, want to look at the Big Screen TVs. Turns out the store is getting out of the Home Electronics Business. The profit Margin is getting too small, and it is taking up valuable floor space, is what the salesman told us. So, all the Bigscreen TVs are on Clearance. We look at the few left. Mostly High End Sony's and some Samsung's. All the LGs and lesser brands are gone. The result, My daughter bought us a 75" Sony Bravia with all the bells and whistles. It will be delivered next week. Thing is heavy (76 lbs), so it is not going on a wall mount. Being a Californian, the Next Big Earthquake is always in the back of your mind. I'd rather it tip over, than fall off my wall. So now to find a 70" wide floor mount table or TV Stand. I am gobsmacked by her gift!
  3. "WKRP, now with More News and Les Nessman" One of my favorite lines.
  4. There is an apocryphal story that circulates in the Radio Community about weathermen. Back in the 1960's when the FCC was still on top of things, a DJ in Alaska on the Midnite to 6pm shift, is supposed to have said on an open mic about 2am, "Ya Wanna Know what the Weather is, Look out the D*** Window!" By the next morning the station had already been fined by the FCC.
  5. Man, I hope the 2100 series molds are not in China! These kits need to be back on the Market. Many of them could be sold now as 2'n'1 kits and reach a greater market.
  6. Dave, according to Scalemates (who I do not ever place much trust in) the original Ranchero, was tooled from the Wagon in 1960. It disappeared until 1973, then was out in a Retro box in 1979. Until this time the kit was stock height. The top was given a radical chop in order to "Freshen" the tooling and squeeze some dollars from it in 1984, in a "Saints" re-issue. Last time it was on the market was 1987, in a Primer Black guise. So, to judge by the kit history, the tool was stock until sometime in the early 1980's. It has since been released twice in it's chopped form. I have hazy memories of both Tom Gaffney and Larry Greenberg in the pages of SAE writing reviews of the kit, and finding it unsatisfactory in many ways. For one thing the '80's was not the time for Multi-Piece Bodies, and the detail was just poor. (as it always had been). There was no real strong market for Nostalgia kits then, and chopping the Ranchero was seen as a "Swing-and-a-Miss" by Revell, trying (and failing) to be 'On-Trend' with current Automotive Fads. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/revell-h-1332-57-ford-ranchero--946085 If anybody can get any profit from this tool, it would be Atlantis. The Ranch Wagon, if restored, might be the only way to really use this tooling, but the restoration cost might make the whole project too expensive to be worth doing. And, Atlantis is (rightly) very close mouthed about Future Plans, and what their Priorities are. I would think that sales of the new-ish Revell Caddy, would point the way towards whether more 1/25 Revell Automotive Subjects are worth the effort. By having Revell (and other) tooling in Vehicle, Aviation, Military, Space, and Naval categories, they cannot concentrate on any one segment of the market without potentially loosing out on other, more profitable kits.
  7. Thanks for the link to "What-if" Modeler. I'd lost it.
  8. Too Kool! What an Amazing Build!
  9. Reviving a Dead Thread. Here is another use for the New Snap Willys Panel Van. I wonder if it ever finished?
  10. A German version of Kraft-Hines. A major Food Conglomerate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Oetker
  11. A really great kit. It and the '63 Galaxy share a design philosophy and many parts can be swapped from one kit to the other. New Whitewall tires and fresh decals and It is a winner. Nice Paxton Supercharger too.
  12. Need the Roadster guts in the coupe body. I much prefer the finned wheels and Tri-Power.
  13. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2022/01/enjoy-this-freshly-made-55-gasser.html Neat Car, with a Hot Wheels Connection.
  14. Cool! Can't Wait for this kit!
  15. Go home, Snake......
  16. No, but I use a Puncil to compose these replies...
  17. There ARE no consequences for their actions. Until it is too late and they get shot or killed, wondering the whole time, "What did I do...."
  18. Just build the silly thing...... It is a Pig's Ear, and will never improve. Just stick it together and enjoy it........! Sometimes we overthink these things............................................................................................
  19. I am still stumped trying to get tiny Revell (or AMT Chromed) chassis parts glued together. I t=strip almost all chromed suspension parts, just so I can get a decent glue joint of them. I am in awe of the guys who build chromed chassis. I wish there was a class on it.
  20. I am thinking about getting the new Moebius Ford F-250 4x4, when it comes out later. Unless something has changed, it may not have the best offroad tires. Can somebody suggest what Resin Offroad Tires they have used that fit the Moebius Rims? I know that Fireball and Scenes Unlimited both do some very sharp tires, but I'd like suggestions on what folks have actually used. I want a period correct look, not the modern 'Fat' Off Road tires of today. I'm looking for the tall, skinny 4x4 tires that I remember from the '60's & '70's. Thanks, Alan
  21. It looks sharp. A buddy back in the Eighties had one that looked something like this at his father farm. It had been painted in a Primer Red, and then been left to sit outside for many years. Faded paint, rotting seat covers, weathered, grey tires, it was a complete POS. We were visiting his parents cabin, and he asked me if I'd like to go up to the lake to look around. I said yes, and he goes over to this ragged looking Jeep, and starts it up. It looked like it had not moved in years, but it ran and we went up the mountain to the lake. The seats were all springs and rotted canvas, and the whole thing stank and smoked, yet the 30 year old jeep chugged right up the trail to the lake. When we got back, he did not even throw a tarp over it! Just left it, were it had been sitting. It is probably still sitting there today... Anyhow, I saw you build and it instantly brought me back to that day, and that Jeep. Your build reminds me of what that little, red, rusty Jeep must have looked like when they first painted it, back in the day. Thanks for bringing me back to a long forgotten, but special memory!
  22. Monty! Away with You! Arghhhh!
  23. This is the Recent Ed Roth kit, isn't it? Be nice to see what tires come with it.
  24. Chicken Coupe! I hope nothing on this kit is chromed. It will make for stronger glue joints on the notoriously fiddly Revell Chassis.
  25. Troll through 1944-1949 Popular Mechanics, and Mechanix Illustrated magazines. Many small photos of G.I. Ingenuity in action. Lotsa Jeeps and other small vehicles converted to one off custom jobs. Many very creative men, with time and extra parts on their hands. They built some amazin' things. I cannot find it, but I've seen photos of a SeaBee built Windmill powered Washing machine on a small Pacific Island.
