  1. Sweet looking Jeep. Which kit did you use and are those kit tires?
  2. All these accolades about this build looking perfect are redundant, the '65 Chevelle SS IS PERFECT. Now that I have that off my chest allow me to say this is a beautiful build. Everything about it just fits so well with the original beauty of the real car. I have three in my stash and will one day build one to resemble the '65 SS I used to own: Tahitian turquoise, 283, 4 spd.
  3. Looking forward to what you do with this one. The '65 Chevelle is my favorite all time car. I owned a 1:1 Tahitian turquoise SS with a 283 4-speed. Really miss that car.
  4. While we are on the topic of building trailers. Does anyone have any drawings/plans for either a torsion suspension for a double/multi axle trailer, or how to attach a double/multi axle leaf spring system? I have looked through several trailer manufacturers and do have some rudimentary ideas but nothing that seems really feasible for scratchbuilding. I am having a brain-phhhtt, there is a name for the piece used between the two springs on a double axle trailer. BTW, that is a nice modification to the Caprice trailer. One of my big issues with that particular trailer kit is the lack of a cross-member across the rear of the trailer, I would be afraid those free-floating ramps would begin to really oscillate going down a typically rough interstate.
  5. I believe this has already been discussed, but I can't seem to find it. I quite often use acrylic craft paints on models. In the past I have thinned with acrylic thinner from the same company as the paint is from. I have also used low-grade alcohol/distilled water mix. All of these give varying results. I seem to remember seeing someone mention using Windex as a thinner, as well as cleaning their airbrush after painting. All the Windex we have at the house has a blue tint, will that not also tint any paint mixed with it? Another thought is using Future as a mix with craft paints to give a shine to the paint. Has anyone tried this and what were the results?
  6. The Sharpies are usually available at WalMart or other such fine stores.
  7. Beautiful Cadillac, those early 50's were the most elegant of the modern era. There is a fellow around here that owns a '49 (I believe). He brings it to several of the local car shows.
  8. Here are the results of the tests: Speedtest: Ping - 6 ms, Download - 6.13 Mbps, Upload - 1.09 Bandwidthplace: Ping - 32 ms, Download - 9.41 Mbps, Upload - 1.15 Mbps I did not state in my last post, this is the only site I am having this problem on. I belong to five other modeling sites and they all work just fine.
  9. ML would be 1050 whereas 150 would be CL.
  10. Not trying to be a PITA, but it appears to me what is being mentioned about slow response has noting to do with our personal computer. What I am experiencing is a totally random slowdown throughout this site. I may open the site and go through three or four posts and they pop right open, then the next one will take upwards of a full minute to open. Or it may take the site a minute to open and every post will be slow opening. Yet, I have on occasion not had any problems at all. The whole system is really frustrating, not to mention I have not received a magazine in almost six months.
  11. Excellent build. The marriage of new and old really works with this one, and the color is over the top. My first ever new vehicle was a '72 Chevy C-10 Custom longbed, so I have a special affinity for this body style. Have you done something to the grille? For some reason it just looks a bit different than a stock C-10 grille.
  12. Nice looking trailer. That is one of my favorite scratchbuilding subjects. One suggestion I would make, and the kit should have been built this way, is to have a crossmember across the rear of the trailer connecting the two sides. Those two ramps will do quite a bit of oscillating going down a rough road if they are not connected together.
  13. Bring on the "CrowMod" or "Murder Nova", this Bird will make mince meat out of them. I love everything about this build. Being retired USAF I really like the paint scheme.
  14. Interesting build. Any pictures of the chassis?
  15. Wish I had my '65 Chevelle SS back. It was only a 283, but it sure was fun to drive. I installed a set of Hedman tri-y hedders, a quadrajet carburetor, chrome-reverse wheels with 9:00 x 15 tires on rear. .It had been wrecked, really minor damage, but it was parked in a shed beside the house and Dad sold it while I was stationed in the Aleutians while in the USAF - the title was in his name.
  16. You might keep an eye on that guy in the front with the lawnmower!
  17. That is probably because the Impala uses many of the same pieces (chassis, engine, etc.) as the Alternomad kit, which is a late model custom Impala with '57 Chevy rear quarter-panels.
  18. This is available from Hobby Lobby for $1.99. I'm not really sure if they have other sizes, but I am heading down that way in a few minutes and I will look to see.
  19. Unfortunately I have just the reverse. I go looking for something particular that I know I have and cannot find it.
  20. I was there the year you brought the English Ford. I remember some of the guys were talking about a really cool hot rod in the parking lot so I went out to have a look. When I saw it I recognized it from some build pictures on another forum website. That is one slick ride.
  21. Beautiful early custom. I can see the pearl effect in the paint; a well laid pearl paint job is obvious even in subtle lighting. Everything about this one screams "old school".
  22. Do you ever bring any of these to the Clemmons' show? I have been there for the past few years trying to thin my stock down. Would really like to get with you this year.
  23. Just came across this build. Looking very good and an interesting presentation. I scored two of these while visiting my in-laws in Pusan, Republic of Korea back in 2015. They are patiently awaiting their time on the bench.
  24. Where have you kept this one, in a climate-controlled vault? That is an amazing looking survivor, the decals are still flat, the tires have not melted to the rims, and the paint looks flawless. Thanks for sharing it with us.
