  1. Neat concept and a very clean build.
  2. MCM is my favorite modeling magazine, and I have just recently renewed my subscription. I do subscribe to the other one and it is alright, however I do tire of some of the repetition of articles and the "special gifts" which are nothing more than reprints of older articles. As stated earlier, I have recently renewed my subscription, although with great trepidation; by recently I mean over eight months ago and I have already received two issues. The problem with not meeting deadlines is not a recent issue. Six or seven years ago I used to go into my local Hobbytown (remember those) just to see if the latest issue had arrived on time, which usually it had not. There were times of 8-10 weeks between issues, yet once there was two issues in less than four weeks. After retiring and moving I am now more than 45 miles from a hobby shop and 35 miles from a Barnes & Noble, therefore I subscribed, realizing there would be some inconsistency with timely magazine arrival. This latest problem cannot be placed fully upon Golden Bell Publishing, since late deadlines are a common problem with this magazine. What is the answer, what should we as subscribers expect? I do not know, however this whole goat-rope is extremely frustrating and does not set well with many of us who have sent our hard earned money in to help keep this magazine afloat.
  3. Since this is a jet-powered machine the power does not go to the rear axle, therefore there should be no need for wheelie bars. Wheelie bars only purpose is to counteract the tendency for a car to rotate around the rear axles under acceleration. This is going to be an outstanding build. I have an Allison powered Falcon Ranchero in the planning stages. BTW are you going to fabricate some form of scoop around the intake? Where it is setting now, the engine would suck the back of the cab loose; actually the engine would probably starve for air.
  4. I have read the blurb on the front page of the website and am wondering the same thing. How can anyone in the magazine business expect more people to subscribe if the ones who now subscribe are not satisfied with the product? I do understand there are issues involved which are beyond Gregg's control, however i would really like to get another issue of the magazine.
  5. It does really stretch the imagination to see a Mercury in this one. I believe the top is from a '54-56 Ford or possibly a Mercury.
  6. Excellent Mustang and an outstanding build. Please tell that guy in the picture to get his grubby hands off the paint job?
  7. This is definitely an awesome build. Love all the detail you are incorporating with it. "My hope is that the ribbon doesn't fray when it's cut" You might try brushing some white glue (thinned Elmer's works) along your cut line, let it soak in and dry. Make the glue area just wide enough so you will be able to cut and have glue on both edges of the cut. This should keep the ends from fraying.
  8. It appears to me when I first open the site everything is normal. However after opening two or three posts it begins to slow way down, sometimes taking 30-45 seconds to open a post. This only happens on this particular forum.
  9. Beautiful Gasser, one of my favorite classes from the "real" drag racing days. Excellent workmanship, beautiful build.
  10. Very realistic looking Gasser. Love everything about it, and that rust job is outstanding. The only thing I see wrong is that a truck this rusty would have to have at least one door handle missing so you would reach in through the window to open the door - j/k. Really like it.
  11. Excellent work. You have definitely captured the 70's with this one. Not a big money show van, but an everyday cruiser; interior is simple and functional. This is what is meant by "Keep on Truckin'" or "If this van's rockin', don't come knockin'".
  12. That will definitely be one heck of a trolling boat; fish better be quick to get a bite. I like it.
  13. Excellent, outstanding work. From the looks of the corner of the door stoop you may have used too much salt during the ice storms.
  14. When we remodeled our house I had the contractor save all the interior doors with the idea I was going to use them to wall off a corner of the basement for my work area. I split a couple of the doors for a work table.
  15. This set-up, or one very similar, was also available for the 409 in the original Trophy Series '57 Chevrolet, as well as some of the later repops.
  16. Absolutely gorgeous work on this one. I wouldn't mind driving that one down the boulevard on cruise night. What is that color?
  17. I remember that article and am pretty sure I still have the magazine. I am going to be quite busy most of the day, but will look tonight if I get a chance.
  18. Simply amazing work. The whole design and execution of this build is outstanding. I really enjoy watching the results of an artistic modeling mind come to fruition. Keep those updates coming.
  19. From back in my "experimentation" days while serving with the USAF in Thailand, one of my friends introduced me to Osibisa. There are a couple of really mind-gathering rifts on this one.
  20. I am not an expert painter by any means. But I would definitely suggest using a primer, especially under the acrylics. A good primer coat will allow you to first notice any areas of the body which will need attention, i.e. mold lines, sink marks, etc. Secondly, it will give a bit of "tooth" for the acrylic to adhere to. BTW, welcome home from another Viet Nam era vet.

    68 Dart

WOW!!! That is one beautiful Dart. Really like the flared fenders and that color is awesome. Nice work on the interior also. Overall, a clean, outstanding built.
  22. "The trick is to find lenses with the "waffle" detail ridges in the outside of the lens." Just wondering if you were to use the molded chrome headlights that you are replacing, would they work as well for a mold master as a separate clear lens? I bought my Bondic at WalMart for around $10-12. Haven't had an opportunity to use it yet.
  23. Wow, that is one clean build. Thank you for posting it. I went with my Dad to see the brand new 1957 Chevrolets at Pioneer Chevrolet in Yadkinville, NC. Of course the dealership has long been closed, bought out and moved to another location. The old buildings are still there, but are in very poor condition. Went by the old Pioneer Chevrolet this afternoon on the way to my aunt's for Thanksgiving Dinner.
