  1. Looking forward to this build. I have this one and the Lindberg copy in my stash. The 40 Ford Coupe Trophy Kit was the first model I ever built, got it as a Christmas gift in 1959.
  2. Just took a four-day trip to visit some relatives out-of-state. I was expecting some packages so I went to the local PO and had my mail put on hold until I returned. When I got home I checked my email and saw all the packages had been delivered to "the front reception area of the Post Office" (USPS's message). Went over this morning to pick them up and only got one package plus a couple of envelopes. When I questioned the lady she became slightly belligerent and said that was all I had. I told her of the email message. "Do you have the tracking numbers?" "Not with me." "Well I can't help you." Went home brought up the emails, printed them off and went back to the PO and showed them to her. "Let me go get the Postmaster." They rummaged around under some tables and finally found my other two packages and more mail, one was my electric bill. Makes me wonder what would have happened to those other pieces of mail if I hadn't forced the issue on the packages. I know they would have eventually found the packages, but would they have just as easily found the missing pieces of mail?
  3. Wonder who all the suits are, definitely not a truck driver.
  4. I also have a 58 Ford friction, except mine is convertible. If you notice the bumper is beginning to separate from the body, the front tire is forward in the wheel well, which indicates the body is shrinking. For some reason the bumper/grille, rear bumper and taillight assemblies are not shrinking or warping. By chance are they a different type of material from the rest of the body?
  5. I do not want to offend of our members from the beautiful state of West Virginia. That being said I have just completed a round-trip to visit family in Ohio and had to traverse the WV Turnpike twice. The turnpike is part of Interstate 77, a highway built with federal tax dollars. Yet I had to pay a total of $25.50 to drive on a highway I paid to have built. And it is always under construction somewhere restricting it to one-lane backing up traffic for miles. Of course I can't complain too much, North Carolina, my home state, has built a toll stretch of I-77 through Charlotte, effectively messing up even more the traffic standstill/flow through that city.
  6. Very beautiful build from a much maligned kit. Really nice job on that chop.
  7. I would love to know the story behind this one.
  8. When I hear "Mack truck" that is the one that automatically pops into my mind. As TonyK said, I also do not build trucks, although I do have a couple in my stash, but I think this would be and automatic big seller.
  9. Interesting build, sort of has the appearance of the VW Hebmuller. It was a two-seat Cabriolet built from '49-53, quite rare in the VW world.
  10. The Ollie's in Winston-Salem, NC had a good selection of the Coke Generals, a few Chevy II wagons, some Big-Rig Semi trailers, and some other assorted stuff. There was one 72 Chevy pickup, it had been opened; I took a quick peek inside, saw it was molded in red and put it back on the shelf. One of the Coke Generals and a Chevy II wagon left the store in my protective care.
  11. Got a second recall notice on my 2022 F-150. The first was back in May and concerned the possibility of my tailgate latch failing which could cause loss of cargo possibly causing an accident behind me. That one is still on hold until FORD can get the parts to fix it. Today's recall involved the electrical emergency-brake wiring harness possibly chaffing and causing an unexpected lock-up of the emergency brake. That one is also awaiting parts to become available for a fix. What irks me is the time spent waiting for a part that in my opinion should not be that difficult to source. Sure hope I can get my Pinto out of the body shop soon, I will feel much safer driving it.
  12. Excellent build of one of my favorite genre of drag cars. Some mighty fine paint work. Where did you source the teardrop hood for this build? I have a '64 annual I want to build as a B/FX SOHC powered beast and will definitely need a teardrop hood.
  13. Beautiful build, your color separation is excellent. I had an opportunity to talk with Benny Parsons at North Wilkesboro Speedway. It was after he had quit driving and was with ESPN. Very personable and down to earth guy.
  14. Excellent build of one of the finest race cars ever built. You said you enhanced the rear wheels, but what tires did you use? I am pretty sure they did not come in a 57 year old kit.
  15. Excellent build using an odd-ball subject. That is the nice thing about Gassers, any style body can work, for instance this 57 Pontiac.
  16. Going to be a nice one when finished. You got a whole lot of chrome work to do on this one. Your selection of eggshell white is a good choice, although I am partial to their baby blue. Keep the updates coming.
  17. Had to make a special trip to the Dentist for a chipped tooth, appointment was at 8:15. Saw this when I came back outside around 8:45.
  18. Got my copy yesterday. Have only had time to do a cursory look see, but what I saw I liked.
  19. Anybody on the East Coast got their copy yet? Mine still has not shown up in NC.
  20. Very impressive build. That particular style Z has never been improved upon by Nissan, but your adaptation sure does make it look better. Great job.
  21. Beautiful roadster, love the SOHC between the rails. Very clean and well detailed. However, it is not an A/G car, with the blown SOHC and other modifications it should run AA/A which designates supercharged altered. Still a beautiful build.
  22. Very nice little rod. Really like that paint, especially since you did it with a brush. I have trouble getting my paint cans that smooth. Beautiful build.
  23. Got it boxed right now until I can get my 50 Ford convertible custom finished. It is closer to being done so I am focusing on it.
  24. If I am doing major surgery on a body, such as sectioning it, or shortening it, I will often use Acrylic Nail Filler to put it back together with. It is stronger than any glue joint, but it is a bear to sand down. On my last section job, I put some .10 styrene strips behind the cut area and used that to reinforce the joint, it also gave me a base for putty in areas that I didn't get the straightest cut. A good styrene glue, such as Plastiweld, or even straight MEK will work. The biggest issue is to get your cuts as straight and clean as possible then realign the parts as near to original as possible. That way you will have a better gluing surface and less need for putty. Hope this helps a little bit.
  25. No such thing as garbage in a box of model parts. Somebody, somewhere can use it.
