  1. Finally got this thing started last night. Didn't get much done, but started laying out parts, sanding, smoothing, etc. Noticed one of the rear splashguards had broken off in the box, so reattached that. In typical Italeri fashion, there are goofy decals, and plenty of them. According to the instructions, this truck is spcifically aimed for the American market, so I guess that means everything has to be star spangled. The Revell Pete 359 took this to even further extremes. It does come with this sheet of "chrome" decals/stickers. Not sure how many of these I'll actually use As I said, I didn't get much done. Just fitting the rear axles together. They still need to be sanded smooth. They're not glued in in this pic or complete. They're just placed in the frame to keep them square. Step 1 of the instructions is complete.
  2. Wow. That's a big kit! I have a hard enough time finding space for 1/24 scale trucks. Very cool.
  3. I remember this car. It's about 5 years old now I think. Hmm...overall, I kind of like it. not how I would modify that car, but I kinda like it. The tail lights are a fail in my eyes though. At the very least, I'd have stuck with the Ford parts bin for those. The wheels I actually like, but they're too big. I'm guessing 18" or 19"? Those wheels in a smaller diameter would look better. Especially if he could have added some dish to them, especially in the rear. And the car sits too high. At least partially because of the wheels. Front end especially needs to come down.
  4. Very nice!
  5. There was this. But as with most things MPC, it does not appear to be correct. At all.
  6. Very cool. I can see one of these in my future. Although...I'd rather see a standard wheelbase Doka transkit.
  7. We have a couple of the Bronco Sports in our fleet here at work. Cool looking, comfortable, but are just a Ford Escape in different clothing. Not sure why Ford bothers to have both the Escape and the Bronco Sport. Same class of SUV, same powertrain, same equipment. Oddly enough, Bronco Sport drives just like an Escape! Looking forward to seeing the Bronco when it arrives. Production starts in May, so the first ones will be arriving at dealers in May. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Looks cool, but there's a lot of Explorer under that body. Wish it had been based off the F150 platform instead. But I guess the size and engine options, it's targeting the Jeep Wrangler. And rightfully so.
  8. A couple of years ago. This GMC 3100. I don't know...50? 51? Parked by an abandoned mine/museum. I need to get in the habit of taking more pictures.
  9. As usual, I've made my late winter vehicle change. First time in a long time there's no pickup in the driveway! Daily is now a 2021 Expedition Max Limited with the "Stealth" package. Nice to drive, surprisingly decent on fuel, all things considered. Had it a couple of week now. This was from the first roadtrip last weekend. Looks like I saved the picture with the IG filters, and not the original. Ahh well. And I still have my old 99 Tahoe as my project/toy/whatever. Took it out in the -30 weather we had a few weeks ago. Performed admirably. Have a large pile of parts to install when the weather is nicer, plus some fab work on the interior, as I transform it into an Overlander-style vehicle.
  10. Your colour choices are perfect. Very nice!
  11. I like that Chev truck. Looks like I'll have some more Coke decals to add to the pile of Coke decals that will never get used
  12. Lolz. When I said I wanted to build one of his kits, I meant the actual 1:1 kit!
  13. I know you're already way into the build, but if you need more reference photos, the Canepa Motorsport website is one I use and refer to all the time. And they have a 1979 Lancia Beta Monte Carlo in stock! https://canepa.com/photo-gallery/1979-lancia-beta-monte-carlo-turbo5426/ 49 high res detail photos at that link.
  14. Ahh yes....Smyth Performance. https://www.smythkitcars.com/ I've been wanting to build one of his VW Jetta kits for years now.
  15. Car batteries are a strange thing. We have a 2016 Kia Soul, just had to replace the battery. Kia wanted almost $450 CDN to do so. To heck with that idea. Did it myself for the cost of a battery and 30 minutes. Anyway, wifey's 2006 Volvo XC90 has way more electronic bells and whistles, is still running strong on the original battery, with no signs of weakness, and no issues when we've done a battery test on it. I used to run Optima yellow tops in my Jeeps and a couple of my VWs. Then I realized I get the same or better CCA for significantly less money. And I've never had a battery take a dump on me or leave me with problems. Well, except for the Kia. Just put a Delco battery in my Tahoe. Over 900CCA, less than $150CDN.
  16. Not 57k miles, this one has only 57 miles. I haven't seen 70s undercoat, but I know what it looked like in the 80s or 90s. And it definitely depends on who is doing the work. I've seen undercoat so thin you can see the paint underneath, and I've seen it sprayed on so thick that it has started to drip. I just think if one were to do some quick touch ups underneath to prep it for sale, they would have done a better job. Especially if they knew they'd be taking almost 400 pics to document it. I've done that kind of touch up on trucks before, and have had my detailers do that while getting vehicles ready. If that kind of work was presented to me as complete, I'd be ticked. Ahh well, not everyone is as picky as me. Anyway, sold for $112k. That has to be close to a record for a square body.
  17. Description in the link says it has undercoat applied when delivered new. Looks like they even got parts of the exhaust system. I have to think that if someone were doing the spray bomb resto, they'd do a better job than this. Leads me to think this is original 1975 undercoating.
  18. If you're into photography, you should really check out that IG account.
  19. It still blows my mind that the 'ring is both a legal toll road and a racetrack. And that literally anyone, in anything, can go for a drive there. Porsche or Ferrari? No problem. Ford station wagon? no problem. Greyhound bus or Kenworth? No problem.
  20. Wow! This looks absolutely amazing. Your attention to detail is second to none.
  21. The square headlight cars were all built at the Westmoreland, PA factory. Rabbits, GTIs, Jetta, Caddy pickups. Those cars are generally considered some of the worst VW ever built, with a lot of quality issues. They only built cars there for about 10 years or so, then moved production to Mexico, where quality was vastly improved. I kind of dig the look of the square lights.
  22. I wouldn't trust anything from that site. It also shows that Goldie Hawn and Loretta Lynn passed away. Which must be news to them.
  23. Okay, the pop vs soda thing made me laugh.
  24. Recently discovered a group called Russian Circles. They've been around for quite a while. Similar to some other stuff I've been listening to, so Spotify recommended them.
