A lot of people know the original... I much prefer the cover by 3Teeth.

Pretty close to my fav colour for the Miatas! Nice build.

lolz. What's funny is that I have had bottles of these on my desk for at least 5 years now. Use them all the time. People are like, "why do you have hand sanitizer on your desk?" My response has always been the same, "Because you people are gross."

RAM Power Wagon
iamsuperdan replied to Mopar - D's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Well then. Turns out I have nothing here right now with a 6.4L engine. Should have shortly. Will post up pics as soon as I can. -
Looks good. Should ask the builder to join so he can post his own builds. I'm still not sure why you feel the need to post things you haven't built. I mean, we can all do random google searches and post the awesome things we find, but that's not the intention of this forum.

I noticed the single lug wheels too. Thought the wheel design was an interesting departure for NASCAR, but didn't really think much about the nuts. Is that really the format they're switching to? Spec engines from one supplier? I don't like that idea at all. Takes a significant portion of the competition out of the sport. I'd like to see a race series where stock cars are actually based on stock cars. The BTCC is a prime example, and is absolutely awesome racing. My personal fav to watch.

Homebuilt Guitar Appreciation thread

I highly recommend Pit Bull Guitars out of Australia. https://www.pitbullguitars.com/bass-guitar-kits/ Last Christmas, we got my son the Jazz Bass kit. it went together beautifully and plays and sounds great. Shaped the headstock to look like a Fender, and added the Fender decal to the headstock. Since then, we finished the Explorer bass kit above, and two more Explorer guitar kits are on my bench. Everything you need is included, including strings, allan wrenches, and a cable. The instructions are super easy to follow and you could have the guitar built and playing within an hour of receiving the box if you wanted. And the shipping is crazy fast, less than a week from Australia to Canada. -
Interesting. So they're running significantly faster with less hp? How are the new cars differing from the current cars to make that kind of difference? I'm suspecting suspension tweaks which would help get the power to the ground and keep in there. Are the new cars lighter? Is the aero that much improved? I'm seeing underbody splitters, kind of like in DTM cars. I don't know a lot about NASCAR, so am genuinely curious about the set up. Also got far more interested when you mentioned road courses, as opposed to oval tracks.

Selling Car Model Kits on eBay
iamsuperdan replied to dwdirks's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been buying and selling on eBay for a while now, and there are still deals to be had. But I have been burned twice. Once as seller, once as buyer, similar situation, yet I was burned both times. In the first, I bought a two kit lot. The kits never arrived. I opened the investigation with EBay, the tracking number showed "in transit" and never did show that the item was delivered. Three months go by, and EBay says too bad so sad, because there was a tracking number I was not entitled to a refund. So that's $130 gone. The second example, I sent a slotcar to a guy in England. Tracking number shows delivered, but he says he never got the item. EBay dispute said I have to refund him. There goes $100. I actually gave up on EBay for a while after that, but then needed some things, and had to go back. Has been fine for a couple of years now. Just know that if a transaction doesn't go perfectly for both the seller and buyer, you will most likely get screwed. -

5-string?! Now that's a little different for sure! I haven't built anything yet that had a nice enough top to just stain and leave visible like that. Definitely want to try it though. -
RAM Power Wagon
iamsuperdan replied to Mopar - D's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
It's definitely a bit of throwback! The manual transfer case is standard equipment on the Power Wagon and on the base model Tradesman. Not available at all on the Big Horn or higher trim levels. The electronic push button 4WD is available as an option on the base Tradesman model for about $200CDN. The new 75th Anniversary Edition Power Wagon comes with the push button transfer case, because it is the only Power Wagon that comes with bucket seats and floor console. As for transmission, all HD Rams with the 6.4L gas engine get the 8-speed with rotary shift knob. The diesel trucks still get the 6-speed and column shift. -

Yes, lots of differences between the 2017-2018 truck and the 2019+ trucks. The new truck has the 8-speed transmission, where the old had a 6-speed. Fuel economy has improved, and the truck is quieter and more responsive. The headlights are so much better on the new trucks. Not just to look at, but light dispersal. Interior is hands down the best truck interior going. For me, the most comfortable seats in any truck. The instrument layout is great, and that 12" touchscreen is amazing. Like having a massive iPad in your dash. If you need some more detail shots of anything, let me know. -

Just noticed, if you really want to get technical about things, the Power Wagons do NOT come from factory with Toyo Open Country tires. They are only produced with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires. -
Homebuilt Guitar Appreciation thread

I'm dragging this thread from the depths and bringing it to the top. Just finished two guitars kits. The first is a headless kit. This is from a Canadian company that shall remain nameless, and was horrible. The fret markers we're aligned well, the nut was installed wrong, none of the frets were level, the body took a ridiculous amount of work to make smooth. And to top it off, a couple of paint experiments completely failed. So finally, I just threw it together. The paint is Chevrolet Dark Torreador Red. I added a kill switch from Iron Age, and some Luminlay fret markers and side dots. After a LOT of work, it's done. It's far from perfect. but it looks okay (especially in the dark,) and actually plays well and sounds pretty good now. This second one is from Pit Bull Guitars out of Australia. An Explorer 5-string bass that I built with my boy. He's 16 and plays the drums and the bass. The Pit Bull kits are fantastic. This is our second one, and I have two more on the bench right now. The wood is almost flawless. Required very little work to make it smooth and ready for paint. The neck needed nothing at all to make it playable. We painted in GMC Storm Grey and put a matte clearcoat over it. Strings are DR Black Beauties. And here's a sneak peek at the next one. It's an Explorer 7-string. I must admit, I nailed the paint on this one. GM Summit White with a black headstock. Streaked Ebony fingerboard. For those wondering, the logos on these are my dad's signature. Jim Clark. He was the reason I got into guitar in the first place, and always encouraged everything I did with music. Bought me music, taught me about the stuff he listened to when growing up in England. Took me and my band to bars so we could actually play some shows while underaged. So when he died in March 2019 from brain cancer, I knew I was going to do something guitar-related to honour him. So now, every guitar I build will have his sig on it. even the ones I build for others. Company name I guess. -

You should totally build it. Yes, it has many flaws, but it does look pretty good on the shelf when done. -
