1/24 Monogram 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe
iamsuperdan replied to Cuba_13's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I've always liked these Thunderbirds, and have this kit in the stash. Your paint looks excellent! -
Lancia Beta Montecarlo

If it's like a Porsche 911 Turbo, then one is the engine exhaust, and the other is from the wastegate from the turbo. -
Doing an excellent job of polishing a turd! I tried the Airfix BMW M1. It's embarrassing how bad the kit is. Exactly what you've described above. You have a lot more patience than I had, and have put far more effort than I was willing to. And it's turning out great! Maybe I should take the M1 out of a box and go for a second round with it.

restorations
iamsuperdan replied to thomascoffey1959@gmail.com's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wish I had kept all the builds I had as kid/teen. Even the ones that rolled off a shelf or were damaged, and then became parts for other builds. All of it went into the bin and some point. Even after trying to get back into building in the early 90s, I tossed all of those as well for whatever reason. Never again. -
My 9 year old daughters AMT 70 impala
iamsuperdan replied to Lowridingmike's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking great! Definitely good to see threads and stories like this. My daughter tried building with me, but unfortunately lost interest after three of them. All hope is not lost though, as she is eyeballing the 95 Chev K1500 I have parked right now and is wondering when we're going to work on "her truck." She turns 14 this summer and will be getting her learner's permit, so I guess I had better get started! -
Edmonton area, checking in.

I went with silver when I did my Buddy Camaro. In hindsight, I think officially the car is more of a light blue. I've since done a wash on the wheels. Should take some new pics.

New Pop Up Ads

Hey there. Mods are aware, and Dave is looking into this. The fight against the ads is constant and ever-changing! -
Interior Front As I mentioned, this truck is the only Power Wagon to get bucket seats in the front. All others will have a 40/20/40 bench, with a plastic tray thing on the center hump. These Anniversary Power Wagons also have the push button 4WD selector, where all other PWs have the floor mounted shifter. The leather on these is two tone, with a contrasting piping colour. Fun fact: it's the same soft leather used in the Ram Limiteds and Longhorns. The large PW logos that normally appear o nthe seats are gone, and replaced with the 75th logo in the upper center. The gloss black trim is actually a carbon fibre look. Driver side front: Passenger side front

Wheels, suspension, underneath. Almost everything under this truck is either black or aluminum in colour. The shocks are Bilstein, so are the usual blue and yellow. All wheel wells have black plastic liners, so no paint is visible. Wheels on this model are new for 2021, and are beadlocks. I think the kit wheels could be easily modified to match this look if so desired. The spare is not an alloy wheel. I haven't actually checked the kit to see what it came with for a spare. Just about every bolt underneath is silver in colour. All of the parts ID stickers are white, except for the one on the front track bar (or whatever that is), which is pink. On to the pics Driver side front Driver side rear Passenger side rear Chassis pics taken from passenger side.

So I know a few people here have purchased the "Power W 2500" resin kit from A&N Model Trucks. Myself included. This is a highly detailed kit, especially when you purchase the upgraded front suspension add-on, or the 6.4L Hemi V8 add-on. Although the instructions are highly detailed, you're left to your own devices when it comes to the colours used, and what the truck "should" look like. So to help, I took these. Back in November, I factory ordered a new 2021 Ram Power Wagon 75th Anniversary Edition for one of my clients. Ultra-rare truck, especially in Anvil Grey. The truck just arrived, and I figured I would document this one, mainly to help with my build of the A&N kit. Interesting note: the A&N kit represents a truck with bucket seats. Until this 75th Anniversary Edition was released, you could not get bucket seats in a Power Wagon at all. Anyway, on with the pics. Exterior Shots: This particular truck is Anvil Grey in colour. The rockers are Diamond Black Metallic. Door handles and the tailgate handle are body coloured. All other exterior trim and ornamentation is blacked out. THe front "RAM" logo is a matte metallic grey. The front grille on this Anniversary Edition is different. It has the vertical slats, where the standard truck has a honeycomb mesh, as depicted in the A&N kit. This truck also has the new-for-2021 Power Wagon graphics. The large graphics that appear vertically on the truck box are no more. This truck also forgoes the black graphics on the hood.

Using a model to help build a 1:1
iamsuperdan replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hmm.. Not an idea I would have thought about. But it works for the manufacturers, so why not? Anyone have an extra AMT Chev Tahoe or two they want to part with? -

The 70 and 80 decals are definitely speed limit related. Truck looks good! I like building the Euro trucks. -
I love malaise-era cars. Excellent build!

How long is too long to ship something from ebay
iamsuperdan replied to youpey's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
From China to Canada? Doesn't seem bad to me. -
Found this one on EBay. Ridiculously cheap. Shipped and landed here for less than half the cost of what I see these normally go for. Maybe people see the box and think it's a toy or something. Despite the goofy cartoon graphics, inside is a perfectly good kit of a 964 Carrera. It's an Aoshima kit, but it looks identical to the Fujimi Carrera 2/4 kit.

How long is too long to ship something from ebay
iamsuperdan replied to youpey's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
For the most part, EBay has been fine for me. For shipping times, I don't get overly concerned unless it gets to the estimated arrival date and my package still hasn't arrived. I did have one recent experience. I bought three things in one transaction, three different sellers. Two of them were updated with a tracking number within 24 hours. The third saw 5 days go by with no updates. I just shot him a quick message, asking if he had shipped, as I hadn't seen any sort of update or communication. I got a response within an hour, and he explained that he only only ships once a week. And then he did mentioned that he explained it in the ad. And sure enough. You know how sometimes vendors put an entire novel in the description section of their listings? Well this seller did, and it explained his once a week shipping. So no worries. Item arrived here yesterday. Ordered March 3. It's funny, one of the other items I ordered still shows as "tracking number provided" and no shipping updates since March 6. It arrived last week. -
