Did you know the crazy life this van has lived? https://www.motorious.com/articles/news/wild-cherry-van/

If you can hook up with an airbrush artist, this thing is screaming for a mural. Demons, lightning, wizards, half naked viking women riding unicorns while slaying dragons. SO much potential on this big blank slate!

misinformation on the web.
iamsuperdan replied to thomascoffey1959@gmail.com's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The big thing with internet research, is to make sure you research more than one site. Too many people, no matter what the subject matter, will find one site that verifies the info they want, and end there searching there. Real research means you keep going. It's just like back in school when doing a report on something. You needed to show your sources, and there had to be several. Yes, there is a lot of misinformation out there, but there's a lot of correct information too. The big challenge is determining what is real, and what is not. Personally, I think the rabbit hole can be a lot of fun. -

I love these kits. Have two in the stash, always looking for more. Tamiya must see the demand for these old Volvo 850 kits is there. Why not reissue them? Anyway, looking forward to seeing more of yours!

Read this news this morning. Awful news. She was great as a host, and even more amazing behind the wheel.

I'd buy the tanker for sure. -
Rare Kits... prices.
iamsuperdan replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pricing is kind of crazy. A couple of years ago, I paid $9 for this. Now I see it on Ebay for a little bit more. I've actually started this one now. Anyway, I pass on a lot of the kits I really want, because I just won't spend that kind of money on a kit. -
I figure, if I'm going to step outside my pricing comfort zone, I might as well go all in.

Customer Service
iamsuperdan replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Well personally, it doesn't matter how long a product takes. 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, whatever. However, the vendor needs to be accurate when quoting shipping estimates. And if a situation changes and it will take longer, the vendor should be emailing clients and advising them of the changes. My recent experience had a vendor quoting 8-10 weeks to cast a resin part and ship to Canada from the US. The part arrived in 18 weeks. At no point did the vendor initiate email contact. At 10 weeks I emailed the vendor asking for an update. Took 5 days, but they finally responded saying it would ship soon. I emailed back at 15 weeks, and received a response the next day saying they were done and being shipped right away. And they were. Now, I'm happy with the product, and would use the vendor again. These resin parts are by no means critical or important, so a delay is not the end of the world. I just wish vendors would just give accurate estimates on time frames. And I wish vendors were better at updating clients. Had this been a time sensitive item, or something important, the delays and lack of communication could have caused issues. By way of comparison: I ordered a resin kits and parts from Europe on Jan 20, and it arrived here today. The product shipped before the shipping estimate they provided when I placed the order. I ordered some resin wheels from the US on Jan 19, they arrived Feb 17. Again, I'm not upset or unhappy. I get that resin casting takes time, especially with small businesses that may be a part time endeavour. Just quote accurate timelines, and keep the client in the loop. THAT is good customer service. -
Ordered Jan 19, arrived today. Pretty stoked to get started on this one. I figured I might as well order up all the extra too. And I have a set of Scenes Unlimited tires to go with it.

1966 Chevy Suburban - Revell
iamsuperdan replied to MarcoTJ's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That turned out really, really nice. Nice touch on having all of the wheels/hubcaps upright. -
Quick update. So as I mentioned above, I order two of the base model grilles from Jeff at Motor City Resin in early November. 8-10 week delivery? No. It was actually 18 weeks. Which is fine, but if a company knows they are running behind, they should be quoting more realistic shipping estimates. Anyway, it finally arrived on Friday. Definitely no possibility of shipping damage with this order. Overall, the quality of the parts looks really good, with minimal need to clean anything up or "fix" the parts. One thing I noticed is that I will need to modify the front of the truck to fit the grille. The original parts have a step or indent in the back to fit around the radiator, but these grilles have a flat back. Luckily, the truck I have thiso planned for will be curbside, so removing the rad support is no issue at all. Overall, I'm happy.

Chevrolet Trucks built in Springfield Oh
iamsuperdan replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've leased out a number of theses International CVs. For whatever reason, the Chev version isn't available in Canada, despite the fact that they are virtually identical, other than Chev badges getting swapped for International badges. The chassis itself is basically the old International TerraStar. Decent truck, but it's minimum $20k CDN more than a Ram 5500 or Ford F550. Same class of truck. I would love it if someone would make a kit of a modern 2 ton chassis cab. The possibilities for building on the back...awesome. -

I guess that's one way to fix the cab corner and rocker panel rust. -

Another re-release? Makes you wonder why they bother releasing it and then discontinuing it, if they're only going to bring it back a couple of years later. Just keep it in production! Anyway, glad I sold my original issue on eBay before news of this one got out there. Have built a couple, it's a nice kit. -
I've been a fan of the Impulse for years. Definitely watching this one!

Finally got this thing started last night. Didn't get much done, but started laying out parts, sanding, smoothing, etc. Noticed one of the rear splashguards had broken off in the box, so reattached that. In typical Italeri fashion, there are goofy decals, and plenty of them. According to the instructions, this truck is spcifically aimed for the American market, so I guess that means everything has to be star spangled. The Revell Pete 359 took this to even further extremes. It does come with this sheet of "chrome" decals/stickers. Not sure how many of these I'll actually use As I said, I didn't get much done. Just fitting the rear axles together. They still need to be sanded smooth. They're not glued in in this pic or complete. They're just placed in the frame to keep them square. Step 1 of the instructions is complete.

Foose Mach 1
iamsuperdan replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I remember this car. It's about 5 years old now I think. Hmm...overall, I kind of like it. not how I would modify that car, but I kinda like it. The tail lights are a fail in my eyes though. At the very least, I'd have stuck with the Ford parts bin for those. The wheels I actually like, but they're too big. I'm guessing 18" or 19"? Those wheels in a smaller diameter would look better. Especially if he could have added some dish to them, especially in the rear. And the car sits too high. At least partially because of the wheels. Front end especially needs to come down.
