The Most Dangerous Car You've Ever Owned
iamsuperdan replied to David G.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yup. Some bozo ignored the safety meeting, and then passed the pilot car. Then promptly stuffed it into a concrete barrier. Made the news and everything. I took my son when we did it. He didn't get to drive because he was only 14, but he got to ride along. This is less than 24 hours before the above pic. -

Lambo Gallardo. There's a company in Vancouver called Scenic Rush. you get to spend the day driving supercars. Vancouver to Whistler, fancy lunch, then drive back. Audi R8, Ferrari 458, Lambo Gallardo, Porsche Cayman GT4, Corvette Z06. SInce we did it, they have added a new Acura NSX, repalced the fErrari, and replaced the Lambo, as the green one was written off the day after we did our drive. Pretty awesome experience. www.scenicrush.com -
Modern vs Older Trucks

I think the older design trucks are definitely the better option for customizing. Not much you can do with the modern aero-trucks. Although, I'm sure there some customs out there. -

Yeah, it was on a set of KW coilovers that were dialed right down as low as I could while retaining some sort of driveability. They're the reason I had to put in the oil pan and pump from a Mk5 R32. That pan was about 2 inches shallower than the original pan. Needed the clearance! The colours on your Vette are fantastic! I've never seen that combo on a Vette before and it looks great. Too bad I don't fit in the C7, otherwise I'd like them a lot more. Here I am trying to stuff myself into a 2018 Z06. No matter how I tried to adjust the seat or steering, no matter how I tried to slouch or adjust, driving this car just wasn't happening! I'm 6"6" and about 250lb. The odd thing is, I fit fin in the Gallardo and the 458 that are just visible in the 2nd pic. -
I love it. One of my all time fav tv shows!

Modern vs Older Trucks
iamsuperdan replied to Warren D's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I knew my opinions would fire someone up. ? Same basic design. Hide the headlights and logos, and in my mind, these are virtually indistinguishable. As I said above. Cabovers are the same. Hide the emblem and the headlights, and that same basic design of a cube on a frame is there. I'm not saying new trucks don't have a certain shape, but I find them easier to tell apart than the old ones. -

Just because, here are pics of my "dangerous" VW. 93 Passat VR6, 5 speed manual, Garrett turbo, no AC, Full Borla exhaust from engine back including downpipes, C2 engine programming, larger injectors, Mk5 R32 oil pan & pump, head spacer, coilovers dialed way down, Porsche D90 wheels. Did all the work myself, aced the mechanical inspection required for insurance, aced the inspection required at a track day. Brutally fast car, with ridiculius torque steer. Ended up blowing a head gasket soon after completeion. Then it sat in my garage with the parts required. Then I lost interest and sold it. Not the roof racks are lower than the top of the bed on the truck next to it. -
Interesting choice. I'm sure her brother will come up with a solid song for her. The Bond themes are typically really good. Except for the Sam Smith one, didn't like his song much at all. Go back a few movies, I wish they had chosen Muse over Adele. Their song is excellent.

I have most of those! Grew up on metal, and much to my wife's dismay, I stil love it!

Modern vs Older Trucks
iamsuperdan replied to Warren D's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it's a generational thing. I'm in my mid-40s. At a glance, I can tell the difference between the modern trucks. But stick an old style truck in front of me, and if I can't see an emblem or the headlights, I have no idea. So in my eyes, the new stuff is far more unique than the old. And yes, the new trucks all have a certain look, but that's based on the accepted shape of a modern truck. The old ones were no better, same basic design regardless of brand. -
Wow, found one I actually know! Very, very odd vehicle. Interesting though.

It's crazy. Our LRT system had issues, with two different sections of track cracking because of the extreme cold. Getting diesel trucks to start has been fun. We have at least 100 of them on our used lot right now, and a ton more in our rental department. Those things just don't want to turn over. My favourite article has been this one. it's not about the cold per se, but about snow. The university of Vancouver holds a big snowball fight every year. This year it was postponed...because of snow. https://bc.ctvnews.ca/annual-snowball-fight-at-vancouver-university-postponed-due-to-snow-1.4768719 Vancouver residents just don't know how to deal with snow. And it is bizarre for them to get the amount of snow they've received over the past week.

Great work! The C4 is still my favourite generation of Corvette. It was the first one I got to drive, so still holds a place in my automotive heart! Besides, I fit in a C4, which is something I cannot say about the newer cars.

The hard part is finding the space! A 1/25 scale building is bad enough, but I'm thinking about more buildings. Wifey will not be amused. lolz

-38 this morning with -48 windchill. So roughly -54 F windchill. Weird weather as usual. Forecast says -5 C (23 F) by Monday.

I'm a fan of trucks but...

I'm waiting for the first Cybertruck owner who wants to be ironic, and install a set of these. They should be stainless though, to match the truck. -
Deadliest car in america.

In the book, Christine was described as a 1958 Plymouth Fury...sedan. John Carpenter thought the coupe was sexier, thus the change for the movie. I love the supernatural and this kind of stuff. Did some quick digging, and have found nothing to corroborate any of it though. All of the news articles out there say pretty much the same thing, with no names, no hard facts. Which is too bad, because that would be wild if it could be proven as true. I mean, look at the curse of James Dean's Porsche. Hard facts, names, proof that strange things were afoot with that car. Imagine what that car will be worth if it ever turns up again. -
Being in the industry, what I've noticed around here is that millenials will drive, but they aren't buying cars. They use public transit or their bikes, and will rent on the weekends, or use those car sharing services. Even my company is experimenting with offering car sharing. We have a few vehicles set up with the equipment and are trialing it with a few select clients.

Well good morning. I'm not one to complain about weather, but it is dang cold this morning. That's -36 degrees BEFORE the windchill, which put the temp this morning around -45 degrees. That's around -49 Fahrenheit. And tomorrow is supposed to be colder. Remote start, heated seats, heated steering wheel. Could live without those features, but why would I? Suspension hard as a rock, tires hard as a rock, steering much stiffer than usually. Takes a good 10 minutes of driving before everything warmed up and made the truck feel normal again. Ah well. in my office now, space heater is on, Tim's steeped tea in hand.

You and me both! Check this company out. Let the drooling begin. https://wagonmaster.com/

Interesting choice. Not sure this is up my alley, but I like that some manufacturers are tackling modern subject matter.

I like it!

It would be super easy to include both early and late grille options in a kit, as the body itself didn't change. It's an easy swap in the 1:1, so the kit should be the same. Heck, with a little front end engineering, even the original front end would be achievable on the same kit.\

Biggest pet peeves on builds.
