  1. ? And it's not designed to. That's like criticising a Volkswagen Jetta for not performing like a Ferrari. The Cybertruck is designed to compete against the other half ton trucks available. If it does everything Tesla says it will, then it will be able to do everything a current Ford, GMC/Chev, Ram, Toyota, or Nissan half ton can do. And it will do what the upcoming Rivian R1T can do. And let's get real, most half ton truck owners don't need to tow massive trailers, or carry 2000lb of whatever, or go rock crawling. I have a two axle car hauler. I venture out to the lumber yards and hardware stores to pick stuff up, and I head to the dump to drop stuff off. I venture off pavement to go camping or hiking or just to go for a little overlanding adventure. And my half ton does everything I need. With the bonus that it will fit in a parkade, isn't a PITA when driving downtown, and doesn't have the ride quality of a tractor.
  2. If you need any detailed pics of what's inside these things, let me know. Crane towers, booster packs, waste oil recovery, etc.
  3. Nothing today, darn these pesky careers! But yesterday, I got the first coat of paint onto the Charger I'm working on. Still needs one more coat, then some clear. If all goes according to plan, I'll have some bench time this evening.
  4. What happened? Sometimes, us moderators are real people, and we just can't be bothered to to wade through 3 pages of thread to weed out 2 pages of nonsense. It's much easier to lock and remove. Maybe if people could act like grown ups, and stop ruining things for everyone else, we wouldn't have to resort to this kind of thing. A lot of people are insecure and overreact to the simplest things, and take every negative comment or thought as a personal attack. And then they ramp it up from there, and pretty soon, we get frustrated and tired and just remove the whole mess. Sorry to those who were having a civilized discussion.
  5. Okay, although the molds are really crisp, with no flash to speak of, I do have a beef. Are the injector pins really this neccessary? There are a lot of parts with massive circles on the backsides, that prevent parts from fitting together. So far, more than half the parts I've touched have need to have these things removed. Anyway... Frame is sanded smooth, and has now been fully assembled. Front suspension. Here's two of these large pin things, on one tiny suspension piece! Here's the front frame crossmember piece. Two large pins on a piece that is maybe an inch wide. Once these all get removed and the pieces are prepped, they go together perfectly, with no ambiguity in the instructions at all. Still better than every AMT kit I've built.
  6. Primer is done, body is mostly smooth now. Just needs a little more finessing, then later today it's time for paint.
  7. Very cool. I lease out a couple of these things every month, and am good friends with the owners at Brutus Truck Bodies, who specialize in aluminum service bodies. Fun to spec out and build in real life, and I've always had a plan to build a scale one.
  8. Hey Luc, can you copy/paste the article? Looks like its subscription only.
  9. Yeah, it's nowhere near the Revell or Testors kits in terms of quality or detail, buit should build up nice enough to look good on the shelf. I have an MPC General Lee kit that I'll get to eventually.
  10. Not feeling it. But I've seen his renders before, and he's really good at them. Does a great job on realism.
  11. As much as I like the Singer Porsches, there's just something about the Gunther Werks 993s that grabs me.
  12. I do have a pair of KISS boots. A few years ago, I went mental and bought a proper pair, then went as a Dressed to Kill Gene at a Halloween party. Full suit, Gene makeup and wig, giant dragon boots. ?
  13. Sat down and official got a start on this thing last night. "VIT" What is that, Very Important Truck? Lolz, spoked hubcaps? Yeah, into the parts bin these go. The Revell kit is definitely NOT an AMT kit! The parts are much more crisply molded, with far more detail than any AMT kit I've seen, and with the bonus of almost no flash. The hubcaps on the above chrome tree being the only exception I've seen so far. Only took to step 2 in the instructions before I found a problem! When assembling the frame, the cross braces need to be installed inside the frame rails. Which is normally no problem. but there are 8 injector pin marks that need to be sanded off, as they prevent the cross pieces from seating against the frame. Anyway, I've glued pieces together, so it's officially begun!
  14. So close to shutting this trainwreck of thread down. Everyone just calm down, keep things civil, and maybe grow up a little. For the last time: The thought that Revell is gone from the US and/or going under should not be promoted unless you have actual FACTS that support that idea. And I'm not talking about inferences based on things that have happened over the past two years.
  15. I think this is why I'm interested in this one. Haven't seen it done before!
  16. I'll be trying!
  17. I never do On The Workbench posts. I'm usually too lost in the build to bother with pictures. But, with all the "new year new me" crap, I figured what the heck, let's see if I can keep disciplined enough to keep this up! I'm not a huge fan of 60s muscle cars, but the Charger is one that just connects to me for some reason. Probably a mix of those Duke boys and Dennis Guilder. So this one is MPC's Country Charger kit. From what I understand, it's a rebox of the General Lee kit. I'm guessing with the flag flap over the past few years, Round2 couldn;t properly produce that kit, so want to keep the tooling going with...something. And that's where this kit comes in. Initial thoughts: maybe MPC/Round2 should have let the tooling die. So many mold lines and flash. I'll spend more time cleaning up parts than I will doing actual assembly. those decals. Wow. Is anyone going to actually build this kit with those decals? Pretty simple kit, should be an easy build. Colours will be a little euro in flavour. Definitely going for a sort of restomod feel with this one. So I started with shooting everything with a coat of Tamiya primer. Molded in black...ugh. One bonus of doing it this way, it helps when cleaning up mold lines. Has any Charger kit ever been made that didn't have those ugly mold lines on the rear fenders? Took care of those right off the bat. Front fenders had a really pronounced edge as well. So knocked those down. The kit came with two sets of wheels, I'll be using the Torque Thrust wheels. Although some bigger rubber would be more apt, so i might look aftermarket for a set of staggered wheels with rubber. And I'm serious, if anyone wants this decal sheet, PM me your address. I'm keeping the gauges, but you can have everything else. Anyway, until the next post...
  18. Check your PM! And yes, this one has tinted glass, including the windshield and headlights! I actually have two of these cabs, and three of the trailers. In looking at the instructions, the trailer doesn't seem too bad to build. And heck, I built it as a kid, so it can't be too bad! Painting and getting full coverage looks like it might present a challenge or two.
  19. So you know how many of us (myself included) kind of mock Round2 a little for all of the Coke kits they come up with? Yeah, yeah, I know, I know...interesting subject matter, and we don't have to use the decals. Yes, that's why I have several Coke kits. Anyway, so they did the Coke Charger. Now which came first...the kit or the real thing? This surprised me. It's umm...interesting...
  20. Excellent build, and beautiful pics!
  21. And here's the trailer! I hate these boxes. Flimsy cardboard and crushes way too easily. Luckily, no damage at all to the contents when this one arrived. And if you chop an end off, the box for the Meng F350 fits perfectly inside to keep things unsquishable! Hey look! Another set of decals that will never get used!
  22. This sums up my 2019. Woody Guthrie made some resolutions years ago. Although I don't make resolutions, I think these still make a lot of sense. And for everyone here....
  23. Well, I have full intentions of completing this year's BRBO! Of course, I said that in 2019 too. And 2018. No matter, THIS year I'll get it done! I'm going with an 80s issue Revell Kenworth COE Aerodyne kit. This was factory wrapped until last week! Everything appears to be intact, no warping or damage to the cab, and even the decals look good. Although I will not be using them. And I'll be pairing it up with Revell's Car Transporter trailer. This will be one of the reissues, although I do have a couple of factory sealed original issues in the stash. This box was open anyway. I have the colour scheme planned out, and will be doing a little extra detailing, but not going too crazy.
  24. I think I have everything updated in the OP. If you don't see your name, let Jeff (gotnitro?) know ASAP and we'll the entrant list updated. Looks like a big field this year! I just want to give Jeff a shout out for the work he's putting into this, and for arranging the prize for this year. Excellent work!
