  1. One of the few NASCAR names I actually know.
  2. Dang. That is some excellent work! You should try some forced perspective photography, and make it look like the model is parked next to the real thing. I think your build is definitely good enough to pass for a twin.
  3. Looks like my old 08 Sahara!
  4. Yeah, mine was the T3. I have a few of the Westfalia vans, but those don't lend themselves to conversion very well. To do it right, converting the bus versions are beyond my scratchbuilding skills at this time.
  5. Those are some interesting engine colour choices! Rear light bar is looking good. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!
  6. That's really strange. Hope you don't mind, I went in and added those to the original post. PM me if you need any more edits and can't for whatever reason, and I'll get it looked after.
  7. I think I may have to borrow some of your ideas.
  8. Thanks for that! I'll PM you a couple of ideas I have. I'm thinking public garage. I created a front office area with room for a counter, and the front door definitely has more of a commercial vibe that a private shop would have. The counter is upcoming on the list of scratchbuilding. Thanks. I'm much happier with the brick than I am with the cinder block. Will be looking for a different cinder block template for the next one.
  9. Luna says Merry Christmas to all of you and your loved ones.
  10. His opening monologue was good. Very obvious and funny Bill Cosby joke. Mister Robinson was funny, Buckwheat was so/so, Velvet Jones not so much, Gumby was funny. Would rather see a "reunion" show with the cast from the mid-90s. Sandler, Spade, Rock, Nealon, MacDonald, etc.
  11. I saw it on Saturday, and was thoroughly impressed. I love the franchise (except for those turds called episodes 1, 2, and 3) and felt this film was the perfect conclusion. DId it have a strong storyline? Not particularly. Will anyone win an Oscar? Nope. Was it well shot, well acted, and have excellent visual effects? Yup! And most importantly, was it a fun to watch? 100% yes.
  12. Yup. It's kind of like the Barrett Jackson syndrome. People pay a more for the prestige/thrill of owning a BJ vehicle. Even though there are often similar or better examples out ther.
  13. Yeah, with some of the styrene I'm using for the door frames, you get the illusion of steel supports. I noticed the "trimmed" cinder blocks as I was doing it, but wasn't overly concerned. Once I get more stuff in the shop, it won't be that noticeable. The brick and cinder block styrene sheets are expensive. Maybe once I get good at this diorama thing I'll use those, but for now, with my first one, I wanted something inexpensive so that if/when I mess it up, I won't feel too bad about it. I found some high res images of bricks, concrete flooring, and cinder block. And then using Paintshop, I made some larger images of brick walls, cinder block walls, and concrete floors. Then a trip to Staples and $10 CDN later, I had my walls and floors. They used a thicker paper (not cardstock) with a semi-gloss finish. I think it turned out pretty good. Ended up getting six sheets of ea, 8.5X11, so I ended up with some leftovers. Can utilize those for building number 2 in the future.
  14. Looks good! I'm actively hunting for a 1:1 wagon version. I learned to drive in one, and now need a project.
  15. Is it the green Kindig Blazer you saw? It's heading to Barrett Jackson in January. Regardless, I love Blazers and will be following your build!
  16. The crate? Some intense looking guy wearing a dusty fedora dropped it off. Told me some bad people might come looking for it. The other crate that was dropped off scares me. It made some weird noises. WIll get pics of that one when I get my nerve back. In the meantime, the door guy came by, got the overhead installed. It goes up and down, so I'm happy. still needs to install the windows though. He got a start on the back exit, but didn't get everything finished today. Assuming he'll be back tomorrow. I know it's Christmas Eve and all, but he seems pretty good. While work is going on, I'm still trying to narrow down a snappy name for my shop. Lots of room for a sign above the front door.
  17. I like the end result. Looks great!
  18. It's a 3/4 ton or one ton diesel, so can easily handle the weight of the unloaded trailer. And I'm impressed with his airbrake set up. Very clever. The pin system isn't that janky at all. Looks like a fairly heavy duty pin. And if it's not venturing out on a major highway, and is indeed just moving farm equipment as speculated above, then this isn't that bad at all. Technically though, probably deserving of a ticket.
  19. Well, my shop is coming along nicely. Figured out a plan for the walls and floors. Cinder block construction, with brick facades on the outside walls. The main office has a nice reclaimed barn wood feature wall. Flooring is your standard concrete shop floor. No fancy floor coatings for this shop. Window and front door are both in place now, with frames cleaned up and painted black. Will be "installing" the overhead door over the next day or so, and the rear shop exit will be going in soon as well. Some of the furnishings and shop equipment are starting to arrive. Including one mysterious wooden crate. I think I'll just put that ion the back of the shop for now.
  20. Love your plan for this one. Following for sure. I love crewcab VWs. Just wish someone would kit the Vanagon version, like I used to have!
  21. I'm going to try and finish my BRBO for this year! Count me in.
  22. I'd probably do the same. I buy kits to build, not to put the box on a shelf. Cost be darned, I'm going to have fun and build everything! One of the rarer kits I've found was an original factory sealed AMT Matador. As soon as it arrived, the shrink wrap came off so I could check it out. Come to think of it, other than an AMT Christine I was gifted, I have removed the shrink wrap on every kit I've ever bought or traded for.
  23. I watched last night for the first time in years. Not as good as I was hoping. I think the weekend update segment was the only part I laughed out loud at. And Mister Robinson's Neighborhood.
