Keeping in mind of course, that most manufacturers of things don't release their entire year's plan immediately. Quarterly announcements or monthly announcements are the norm. So if it hasn't been announced in the first 13 days of January, don't panic or freak out, or lament the demise, or any of that nonsense.

I'd buy a few of those for sure! *opens can* Moebius, Meng, or Tamiya would do a better quality kit than AMT though. *worms everywhere* ?

Hacking my way through. Body is painting, and I actually got the look I was aiming for. Tamiya AS18 Light Grey, with Tamiya TS79 Semi-Gloss Clear. Bit of polishing and should be good to go. Will get the chrome trim masked and painted next. Did some mockups, and noticed that the fit of the bumpers is not what one would call precise. Ah well, will figure it out.

I love these kits. Have all four versions in the stash. Looking good so far.

Big Red. Never knew about this.

Reminds me of the Chev Turbo Titan III. Gas turbines were big in the 60s. If I recall, Ford, GM, and Chrysler were experimenting. And I think it was horrible economy that eventually killed off the turbines. -

Just about every half ton does the squat with a quad or sled in the back. -
Heard the news an hour ago that Neil Peart from Rush dies on Tuesday. Three year fight with brain cancer. Sucks. That's what got my dad in March.

Which four? I know Chinook Hobbies, and of course PM Hobbycraft. Who are the other two, and are they any good? Always looking for more place to stop when I venture down there. Red Deer has a really good one. Wildside Hobby and The Game Store. The Game store rivals Hobby Wholesale, if not surpasses them. Here in Edmonton, we have the same population, roughly a million, and we have basically 3 stores. Hobby Wholesale, and two locations for Comex Hobby. I do most of my purchasing in person, but still do a lot of internet buying.

Dread Zeppelin are fantastic musicians. I got the change to see them live back in the very early 90s. Un-Led-Ed had just been released, and we happened to be on vacation in England at the time. The stars aligned and I went. Such a good show, and I'm not even a huge Zeppelin fan. They totally played up the reggae stereotypes, and the Elvis impression was bang on to any footage I've seen of Elvis himself. And despite all the comedy, the sound was perfect. Such a tight band. Would definitely go see them again if their tour and my schedule could get together. Looking at Encomium reminds me of just how many excellent soundtracks & compilation albums there were in the 90s. The Crow - really introduced doomy, gothy, industrial music to the masses. This is still a killer album, and I listen to it a lot. Judgement Night - decent movie, awesome soundtrack. Really kind of broke the metal meets rap genre into the mainstream. Collaborations from bands like Slayer, Faith No More, Pearl Jam, Helmet, and Dinosaur Jr with rap artists like Onyx, house of Pain, Run DMC, Cypress Hill. To this day, one of my favourite albums. In fact, I got nostalgic and I'm listening here at work as I type this. https://open.spotify.com/album/1qwrbuNLtDcuj2myhuESlh?si=SOFp683mTw21TxMYTacS1w Songs In The Key of X - this is not a soundtrack per se. it's an album of music inspired by The X Files. Foo Fighter,s Sheryl Crow, Filter, Screamin Jay Hawkins, REM. it's just a dark, moody, atmospheric album. And I love that the CD has hidden tracks. Hidden tracks, that are NOT just tacked on to the end of the disc after a large gap. As the albums says, Zero is a number... Pump Up The Volume - i love this movie. And the soundtrack...Leonard Cohen, Richard Hell, Ice T, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Decscendants, Soundgarden. Just fantastic. Singles - THE definitive soundtrack to the grunge movement. Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Chris Cornell, Jimi Hendrix. Excellent movie too. mmm...Bridget Fonda...

BRBO 2020 Mystery build
iamsuperdan replied to Vince66's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Italeri do an excellent truck kit, so I'm looking forward to seeing this. But I have to question their design department. Which committee is responsible for the decal packages on these truck kits? They're prettty ridiculous. lolz -
Simple , but effective. Maybe I'm overthinking mine! Good idea adding the oil stains on the floor. I don;t think I've ever seen a shop without them. That guy in the green shirt needs to tan.

100% agree. I don't believe in the "it's rare, don't build it" arguement. Looking forward to more. Although stock cars aren't my thing, I do like a good scratchbuild project!

GREAT WAY TO USE UP ODDS AND ENDS FROM THE SPARES BOXES!

Yeah, I'm collecting ideas and additions faster than I can finish the building! -

What will be interesting is what happens in 2021. Both the Ford F150 and the Chev Silverado 1500 will have full electric versions. i suspect most truck buyers that would consider electric will go that direction. I can't see quality being any worse than the Ford. Ford have had so many recalls over the past few years. I've had three Fords in the last 10 years, and each had a minimum of two warranty trips. Will NEVER own another. i don't think the Tesla is being done to be a true competitor to the Ford or Chev though. much like their cars, I think it's going to be a somewhat exclusive, higher end, lower volume vehicle. -
A way to get around licensing?

"Lady Butterfly?!" Holy moly. What marketing department in their right mind sits down and thinks this is an appealing and amazing decal concept? Just wow. Lolz -

GREAT WAY TO USE UP ODDS AND ENDS FROM THE SPARES BOXES!
iamsuperdan replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in WIP: Dioramas
My parts box is actually one of the things that made me think i should build a shop diorama! A couple of engines, a bunch of valve covers, some wheels and tires, a hood or two, etc. What really did it was a trade for a car that was missing the engine and wheels. i knew about the missing parts, but I liked the subject matter, so as soon as I saw it, the diorama popped into my brain. it's funny, didn't even have a thought about completing the car. Just wanted it to be a parts cars in a display! -
I love these cars. Built the Jager and the Bosch versions many, many years ago. And they have since been lost to time. I now have 4 of them in the stash, one of each kit Tamiya produced. Will get to them one day. Watching yours for sure.

A way to get around licensing?
iamsuperdan replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Country of manufacture and sale make a huge difference too. In China, there are some incredibly blatant vehicular knockoffs. But because they are manufactured in China, and only sold in China, there's nothing European or American manufacturers can do. https://www.hotcars.com/chinese-copycats-20-cars-that-are-total-rip-offs/ For example, meet the Land Wind X7. Look familiar? Let me introduce the Range Rover Evoque. And there's nothing Land Rover can do about it. The ESP guitar company makes a killer version of the Gibson Explorer. Problem is, it's a little TOO good. Gibson hit them with a lawsuit and they can no longer sell that model in North America. In Japan though, no problem. I wonder if decal manufacturers have the same restrictions. Maybe in China they could produce a blatant copy with no legal repercussions. But then I guess selling in North America or Europe could generate an issue. -

PArdon me if this is common knowledge, but wasn't the licensing removed by Round2 or whoever? Too much controversy surrounding a certain roof decal? I didn't realize they lost the licensing for all of the other Dukes branded kits too. Does this mean I can sell the decals from my DOH police car for a huge profit? I won't be using them so.... lolz. -
I love VWs and both of these are awesome. Love, love, LOVE the red one. I finished mine over the summer, looks okay on the shelf, but I would love to see how you build it, and how ridiculously and amazing detailed you would make it!
