Round 2 AMT Advertising Suggestions
iamsuperdan replied to regular guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I read the thread and maybe I missed it, but here are some of my thoughts regarding advertising. You mentioned advertising. If you mean info on their own website, then by all means, they should have way more info on there. I mean, the space is there, use it. There's really no limit to what a website can have. So get full descriptions, pics, details, etc. Get everything on there. A gallery of builds, copies of instructions, tips, hints, for each model. Pics of the sprues. Dimensions, high res copies of the box art. Whatever, the room is there! If you're talking about other advertising, I wonder where that would be. There's what, two maybe three magazines that would run ads? Maybe a hand ful of websites? But then, even this site doesn't really have a ton of advertising. Also, someone mentioned a description would be bring more excitement and get kids more interested. I think to get kids more interested, the companies should stop reproducing cars that are 50 years old that todays' kids have never heard of, let alone seen. I like some of these older subjects, and there's definitely a market for them, but kids today just don't care about old cars like us old guys do. In North America, the hobby is dying, because the NA kit companies are catering to guys like us, that quite frankly, are also dying! We're old, and the reissues of cars from our youth just aren't bringing in a new generation of builders, and no description in the world will get kits excited about a topic that is of no interest. That would be like the Japanese companies, who have a handle of what Japanese youth want, try to market their most recent Supra or SUbaru kits to the 60+ crowd who love hotrods. Is there any description they could use that would get hot rod guys interested? Probably not, and it goes the other way too. Anyway, I'm looking forward to my bench time tonight, where I'll be working on both an Aoshimi Toyota truck, and an AMT Roadrunner. -
This is looking great!

Haven't picked one up yet. Watching closely, very curious! -
What did you see on the road today?
iamsuperdan replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've always loved the Esprit, and even though I know they are troublesome and prone to many issues, I still want one. Alas, I highly doubt my 6'6" frame would fit. -

Welcome to Alberta. Eight inches of snow overnight? No biggie, we'll just take the Esprit. As seen outside a friend's condo. -

When the elections went down this past fall, they were the most attended in the town's history, and the public candidate forums were literally overflowing. People are ticked and they're doing soemthing about it. Nice to see. The sad thing is, although I know you're writing in jest, there is some truth behind this.

If their logo is an accurate representation, then Colonel Sanders had a giant head and a ridiculously small body. I like to believe that everything is to scale. -
So last night a consturction crew working on installing traffic lights near my subdivision decided it would be a good idea to ignor the little utilities flags everywhere, and took out a gas main. From 3pm yesterday until about 6am today, no gas. That means no heat, no hot water. In Canada. In winter. Was repaired this monring, furnace up and running and water heater re-lit before I left for work, but I tell you...that was a b|tch of a shower this morning. The kicker? This is the same construction company that took out a water main...twice...on the other side of town last summer. But our small town uses them because they're "local and offer great value for the community." Translation, they're cheap. THis came up in fall during our local elections, and was quite a point of contention during a couple of the candidates forums. Can't wait to see the reaction during the next few open council meetings. would be great to see some accountability here.

I've got about 12 on the bench right now. My garage is insulated, but not heated, so I can't do any spraying during the winter. I build until I get to point that requires spraying, then it gets put to the side and I work on something else. Once the weather turns adn it's consistantly nice out, I'll have a flurry of activity. SHould be able to finish quite a few kits this year!

Plus temperatures, snow is melting, sun is shining. That means we're getting closer to the day I can break out the shorts and flip flops again. And more importantly, can get back in the garage and do some painting! I have at least a dozen kits stalled, painting for paint.

Excellent build, but holy cow did they get that front end wrong or what?! Can't say I've ever seen a console shift on a reg cab S10 that wasn't a Syclone. Anyway, great build on a so-so kit! -
I still would.

I love hiking in this kind of weather. The fall is probably my fav time of year.

Hey there! That would be the H-Hangar kit from Handhead. I just made a thread about this. I'm using two of the Hangar 01 kits and the LED kit. -
In some of my under glass posts, people have asked what that sci-fi looking background I use is. It is the H-Hangar from Hand & Head Hobbies out of Korea. https://www.handhead.co.kr/h-hangar01 A friend of mine is way into sci-fi and action figures and whatnot. I thought these looked cool, so grabbed a couple .My diorama is actually two kits, each one being about 8" square. There's also an LED light addition, which I picked up as well. https://www.handhead.co.kr/l-unit There are a few other add ons as well. https://www.handhead.co.kr/product They snap together easily, and I think with a little weathering, these could have huge potential.

Canadian Hobby Shops

Totally forgot about Chinook! Not sure what they have for online presence, but the actual brick and mortar store is pretty good. Will have to check out Model Land. I've never actually heard of that one. -

100% agree with this. Ivan at Wheels & Wings has been great to deal with. I've ordered quite a few kits from then. Just find what you want, the call or email to see if they have it. I haven't been disappointed yet! PM Hobbycraft in Calgary is good, but their webstore isn't as good as being there in person. Same goes for Hobby Wholesale in Edmonton, who are sadly the onyl real hobby store left here. City of over a million people, one hobby store. -
