Beautiful work! I wish Ferrari would bring the gloss red back to their F1 cars. -

What did you see on the road today?
iamsuperdan replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Definitely a rarity in this part of Canada! used to be everywhere back in the late 80s / early 90s. Always thought these were a cool car. Even though their underpinnings where pretty bland. -
Homebuilt Guitar Appreciation thread

I'm not great with wiring, but that looks complicated. Lots going on for a Tele. What's with the paint job? At first it looked like white paint over a crackle finish. But then that original finish doesn't quite look like crackle. I LOVE crackle finishes. -
8am and it's currently plus 7 degrees. Supposed to get up to 16 degrees Celcius over the weekend. I love it. Oh, and yesterday, I had a client that tried to pull the "do you know who I am" trick when trying to buy a truck. He was being a massive donkey, so I called him on his nonsense. That's great the you own a construction company, but it won't make me slash the price on the one F450 Limited we have available. Then he says he's friends with the boss and that he'll just go see him. So I dialled the boss and invited him to come down. Boss had no idea who the guy was. Turns out they met at a golf tourney last summer. Anyway, I don't think he's buying this truck from me. lolz.

Black interior, restoring lost detail
iamsuperdan replied to DaveB's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'll typically use several different blacks. Semi-gloss, flat/matte, gloss. Sometimes mix a touch of grey into the blacks for slightly different tones. It's all black, but you get some differentiation on the parts and see some detail. -
PM sent. ?

There's a local Chev truck group that has been banned from holding their meets for similar reasons. A few guys show up and think it's cool to do burnouts and roll coal in the parking lots of these businesses, and then when confronted by the organizers, get all defensive. I have a friend that attended "the final straw" event last summer. When the clowns were asked to behave, they started trying to pick fights, and accused the organizers of all kinds of things. Political affiliations, being in support of communism, sexual preferences, etc. And the cops were called, and the property owners banned the club, who had been using the lot on Friday nights for at least 2 years without incident. And of course, because word spreads in the business community, the club had real trouble finding a new meeting spot, as word got out.

I would guess the body still had mold release agent or some other contaminant on it from the production process. But you said you washed it. Hmmm...odd.

It's a not a real AAR, so no one get their panties twisted over tinted glass and modern wheels. Digging this one. Airbags, modern steel wheels, cool patina. Interior is a work in progress. Local municipality has upped their spec for enforcement vehicles. So much for the more basic SSV or police responder model. -
Daylight Savings Time. Yeah, I said it. Lost an hour of sleep on the weekend, but now it's light outside until 8pm. So when I take the dog for her evening walk, I can actually see the melting ice on the sidewalks. Much less chance of a wipe out.

Currently 5 degrees. Yesterday was 7 degrees. Going to be above zero for a while, and all of the snow we got last week is melting at a rapid rate. It's almost time to bust out the shorts and flip flops.

If I had the funds, Kindig is the shop I'd send my car to. Although, every time I see a new build on the show, I just know what's coming. Step 1: Roadster Shop chassis Step 2: LS4. Or a Hellcat/Demon engine. But the results are always amazing. One of his VW builds is somewhat local. I've seen it at shows, and the build quality is astounding.

It's been mailed for less than a month. There's a lot of people that haven't received it yet. Have a little patience.

Interesting comparison. So it's basically the same size as Bo and Luke's Charger, but almost 2000lb heavier. And the last time and American manufacturer built a 2 door this big? 1987. And this new Charger is much heavier than that car. I think it will be a good car, I'm just having trouble wrapping my brain around what Stellantis is thinking with this.

Cancelled my Motortrend + subscription, as it's being merged into Discovery Plus at the end of March anyway. Plus, the quality of the channel has been junk. Buffering, lag, screen freezing. It was like dial up internet. Plus they stopped carrying BTCC and DTM racing, which was the main reason I signed up in the first place. So we signed up for Britbox and will give that a try. I'm excited because it carries The IT Crowd and all 26 seasons of the classic Doctor Who. We don't watch a ton of tv, but the things I do want to watch are generally not on normal tv. Other than NHL. And curling.

I know, but it's still a ridiculously heavy car. The Ford MachE GT is under 5000lb, and the Mach E Premium is only 4800lb. That's 1000lb lighter. The Tesla Model S Plaid is roughly 1000lb lighter, at about 4750lb Heck, my F-150 Lightning is only 800lb heavier. Extra weight makes any vehicle slower, use more fuel/charge, and makes it handle worse. There's no reason why this car should be that heavy. It's a moot point though, as most people looking to buy a Dodge will go for the gas engine.

TODAY: USS Texas was refloated and moved out of drydock

Well over 100 years old and served in both world wars. And hasn't been scrapped. VERY cool. -
Revell Peterbilt 359

It may not be "perfect" as you said, but I really like the colour you chose. And the darker "chrome" finish you put on the wheels are tires looks really good with the maroon paint. Now I'm thinking about using the maroon with the darker chrome on one of my builds. -
Took the pup to the lake yesterday morning. I'm not sure which she loves more. The playing in the snow, or the laying across the back seat of the truck with the seat heaters on during the drive home. Then took the fam to see Dune Part 2. The theatre has the fancy seats. Basically pods for you and one other person, with extra elbow room, power reclining functions, heating, a little area to hang your coat, a smaller table to put your popcorn and stuff. And you can flip up the center armrest if you wish. Totally worth the extra $2 over the normal seating.
