T.V. car/truck goofs. Mistakes Ect....
Joe Handley replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, for NASCAR under TRD, for the Tacoma, Landcruiser, and Sequoia, then for the Lexus cars as well. They even has a V12 for some time in their Crown sedan. -
T.V. car/truck goofs. Mistakes Ect....
Joe Handley replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They used a Econoline (stub nosed like the 1/20 MPC kit) in that scene from the TV show. I seem to remember there were a number of times that they used the ‘72-‘77 m/y cargo vans on the show for the more severe stunts like in the bottom pic. That top one is from the movie from several years back, it died early in the movie, unfortunately. -
International Tractor found on USS Hornet After 76 years
Joe Handley replied to ranma's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I think the main reason is that while that tractor is still submerged in saltwater with no exposure to oxygen, I seem to remember seeing somewhere that oxygen exposure is what really kicks off the rusting process in those situations. -
Memphis Street Outlaws--Something New!

The one that shocked me was a Chrysler Conquest (Mitsubishi Starion) and the occasional Chevy Luv. -

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)

Can Autocorrect be turned off, works fine most of the time, it occasionally does that to me, but some R/C names make it worse.....like E-Revo for example, I think it’ finally learned to leave that alone?

What ELSE did you build? Non auto related.
Joe Handley replied to Scott Colmer's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Been working on these two, basically down to just needing receivers to be drivers, but there are some goodies coming in so I can’t finish the bodywork just yet. The blue XJ may be getting converted back to a monster truck it started life as with that set of rolling stock getting put on a different trail truck. -
Changing Times, Changing Tastes
Joe Handley replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To me it's a waste of a Gremlin, especially if it was in good shape to start with.......then again, I'd have stuck a late model Jeep XJ 4.0l (preferably a stroker) and AW4 and make a nice cruiser out of one. -
I laughed way harder at that than I should have

She usually is too, she’s just starting to teeth right now, so that isn’t a constant at this time.

Thanks Carl, that’s appreciated!

Got another video from my Sister, my niece has now said Mama, adding “1st Word” to what she’s done for major milestones in the last 2 weeks, and by 7 1/2 M/O too?

Spray Max 2K Clear
Joe Handley replied to DiscoRover007's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I’ve bought both the 1K and 2K clears, but haven’t tried them yet. Now I’ve started shooting some of there black 3 in 1 primer on the Squarebody Chevy hardbody for my Clod Buster over the weekend and plan on getting another can for the Tradesman van hardbody for the Lunchbox kit that just showed up today. The 1K I have is going to get used on the Clod Once I get the color coats on it and plan on getting a second can for the Lunchbox body. -
Opinions wanted-future project
Joe Handley replied to 64Comet404's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Honestly, I think the first pic has the stance nailed and feel the wheels and tires work too, although I’d paint the barrel part of the rims aluminum with the centers painted a light gunmetal color. That must be one of the few body styles that looks completely wrong sitting at anything other than at level, no matter the altitude........maybe it’s the horizontal fins combined with the hump-ish roof and deck lid. If you want to try a more period type wheel, I’d probably use the Pegasus Chrome Reverse style wheels with the shorter narrow whites with the same stance, maybe even the same altitude as the first pic. Just please don’t go with a “Stink Bug” or worse, “Carolina Squat” stance! -
What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)

Had one of these show up today, as well as the bearing kit and servos yesterday? Since my club project this year is cars built the same years Gen Xers were born, think I should bring this to the meeting, it’s solidly a 70’s era Tradesman? -
Could be like the Ida '39 Merc, where the skirts move in and out while turning.
