  1. While this thread went off the rails very early, it does contain a lot of useful information. A reminder to everyone, keep it clean and respectful.
  2. Most of Harry's build threads and tutorials are over 2 years old. Are you saying they should be deleted? There is a lot of valuable information in many of the old threads. Even if the photos are missing there is good info in the descriptions. They aren't all gold mines, but that is no reason to discriminate against the old threads. Many of the old threads resurface because they show up in searches initiated from this forum while the newer ones are often overlooked. This software has a poor search function. The funny thing is, if we had a computer problem and lost a bunch of the old information, many folks would be complaining and saying how irresponsible we were for not backing up all the old data so that it wasn't lost. You can always back out of a thread and start over if you find that it isn't your cup of tea.
  3. Mine was also on the plastic wrap. Maybe it has to do with International shipping.
  4. You can also get "Ready To Airbrush" paint. That takes the mixing out of the equation, but you may not be able to get the exact color you are looking for.
  5. Well, it is clearly built as a show car. It probably runs, but looks to be extremely unsafe to take down the track (poor vision). Extreme show cars can sometimes be used as test mules for engineering ideas. Perhaps someone will see a better way to do something from this car. What that might be, I have no idea.
  6. Very nice JC. All of that work has really paid off.
  7. That's part of the problem. If folks don't want to pay the excessive price for a car/truck, they don't lower the price, they discontinue the model (at least sometimes they do). I drive a 2011 Ford Ranger for work and I really like that truck. Perfect size for driving/parking in the DC area. Ford did away with them (in the US) and you were pretty much forced to buy a full-sized truck. Now they are going to bring them back and it looks like they are going to be quite expensive and larger (more of a mid-sized truck now). All of the GM and Ford vehicles I have purchased since the early 2000's have been with 0.0% interest from the manufacturer (including the Callaway Corvette I owned). Unfortunately, my wife likes imports which I have rarely seen offer 0.0%. I have gotten 0.9% and 1.9% on her Volvo and Nissan. I know they have a lot of money built into the price of a new vehicle, but I negotiate until I am happy with the deal. I will walk out of the dealership if needed. Generally, within a day or two I get a call to come back in and talk some more. I almost always get what I was looking for (which is a reasonable price for the vehicle) and still get them to throw in a freebie or two, even if it is only a shirt or a free tire rotation.
  8. Several other members had problems uploading photos that were taken in portrait layout (holding the phone vertical). The forum software didn't like the tall photos. Try uploading photos that were taken in landscape layout (holding the phone horizontal). Your phone could also be naming the photos in a peculiar fashion. Try renaming the photos and be sure to not use spaces or symbols. Hope that helps.
  9. Hands down, the most used color is some shade of black. Almost every model that is built has something painted black.
  10. I also received a shipment of Splash paint. Very quick shipping. I hope to try it out in the near future and will let everyone know how I like it.
  11. I moved this thread to the Kit News & Review section. Just a reminder to everyone, please check to see if there is already an active thread on the subject you are starting.
  12. I think he is just pointing out to the folks, that have shown interest and may be looking to buy the Grand Sport, that a new in box kit can be had cheaper if you buy the Revell version as compared to one in an Accurate Miniatures box. Just a way to save a buck or two, who doesn't like that.
  13. The 1:1 cars have a lot of internal supports and structure. There are also a lot of different curves, bows and odd angles on the many different types of cars out there. I don't think we could afford to buy a model that also needed that structure to support the correct thickness styrene skins over the doors, hood and trunk. I am sure it could be done, but would you sell enough to make it financially feasible.
  14. Ordered my shirts 3/16/18 and they arrived today. These are very nice shirts and are an easy way to help support the magazine/forum.
  15. Robert, I started with this exact booth. A lot of good information in this thread.
  16. It's amazing.....there is a new choice in paint suppliers and folks bash them without knowing anything about them and without ever trying the product. Thread is locked.
  17. Go to a local car show and snap photos of the cars. Recreate them and go back the following year and setup a vendor table. I bet you could sell a bunch of them and for a nice profit.
  18. I wouldn't be so quick to blame the engineers (even though it may actually end up being them at fault). When I first saw this story, my gut told me it was corruption. No real reason why but that it what i thought. I will wait for the investigation to be concluded, but I am going to guess a few members of the construction company and a city official or two are going to prison.
  19. The bell curve that the world's intelligence has been graded on has taken a big hit. I was a little shocked to learn he was 76. I had thought he was in his early 60's for some reason.
  20. Search through the Under Glass section to see if any of the builds look like the color you want. Most folks will list what paint they used somewhere in the thread. I use MCW paint. They carry most of the old factory colors. They can put most of what they offer into spray cans. It is a good bit more expensive, but you will get the exact color you are looking for. The other drawback is that it can take 4-6 weeks to receive, after you place your order.
  21. When buying anything online, you need to go slow and look at what is on the screen. Need to read the "fine print" and make sure there are not any boxes checked that should not be checked. Online merchants can automatically check boxes to sign you up, for who knows what, and it is your responsibility to opt-out before you click the last purchase button.
  22. Scroll thru these and see if anything rings a bell. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicles_make-Chevrolet_model-Corvette.html There are 81 pages.
