Protar Ferrari 126C2

Beautiful workmanship! -
Thanks for the clarification. I haven't read up on recent cars too much, until I get a kit. ?

I found a source for thinwall stainless steel tubing recently: https://www.mcmaster.com/hypodermic-tubing Good old thread to dredge up, I see some awesome work and ideas here. The OT question is really vague, sure depends on what your are doing. For example, an old beater pickup with cast iron manifold would look silly with some of the techniques above. I simply painted Testors 'leather' brown, and sprinkled on baking soda while it was wet.

1955 Big Block Truck

Killer build! This is why I'll never build another street rod, you guys make me look like a rookie. ? I like the original plastic color too. ? But if it's like silver plastic, you can see swirls? -
Looks really nice! Is the roof a lighter color? I have the Revell 612 in my stash, basically the same model correct? The car is huge!

1955 Chevy Junkyard Parts Truck

Very nice work! The only thing missing is a rat's nest. ? -
Very cool semi! I noticed the license plate panel under the bumper, for one thing. What a pain about photo hosting site Photo(f)it, you say pictures are too big, is that why there is pixelation?

Revell Trabant 601S 30th anniversary of the Berlin Wall
89AKurt replied to GeeBee's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I built the Estes rocket, kit bashed the Flight Systems F-engine kit with it. Last flight the parachute broke off the nose cone. Anyway, this picture couldn't be taken today, thanks to fence and development. Back to the OT, didn't know there was such a thing as this Berlin Wall special kit. -

Aw shucks! ? ? No way, 90% of model builders do, there are so many other interesting vehicles to do.

Tamiya 1/24 Alfa Romeo GTV (1996) Twin Spark 16V

Cool subject. Scribing is great touch, I've been enjoying my Tamiya tool. Great photography, that's what I'm looking at. I'm taking pictures on my disaster zone workbench. ? -
Very nice of you to do this! Knowing how I've become obsessed about hinges, that design *could* be workable. No way the battery is going to fit, but can go in the back easily. Guess I should do the hood bracing. Sorry for not being accurate, what I need is under the hood at the cowl (you will see in the pictures ⏬). Jumped off the cliff tonight, really wrecked the kits. ? First was to measure, and draw the basic dimensions, the wheelbase, width of floor, wheel wells (which are almost exactly the same), how much of each end to whack off. Hot-wire used for most of the cuts. Superglued together. Removed the molded on driveshaft, the Celica unit almost fits perfect. Shortened the exhaust, the tunnel needed to be widened. Obviously need to reconfigure the last mufflers, but might just ditch them. Front shield still needs to be cut back. Trunk area will get a new floor, the mount on the body will need to move, and the gas tank may need tweaking. Anti sway bar sure need links. For some reason the wheelbase looks wrong, but it's all the same measurements, just need to shove the chassis forward. The wheels don't have the ideal offset, modern cars have the mounting surface to the outside much more. I need to shave the radiator support area to get this to work. Removed the Celica molded in radiator which helped about 1 MM, but need about 2 MM more to be safe. Really should assemble the whole grill with the headlights before commencing. Damaged the thin part of the body across the front, will just remove the whole thing after seeing the real car. The Lexus chassis hangs down at the front, could cut off, but really want to make an airdam. The hood just clears the engine, but expecting to either thin it later or add a slight bulge. Firewall area needs a brake booster or something.

'72 Chevy Stepside
89AKurt replied to Plowboy's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Came out very nice. The MPC kit has some little details that are more accurate than the AMT. I like this very much, but I'm also very biased towards this generation of Chevy pickups. -
Thank you too!

Thank you. When I was looking at it, impressed myself. ? Yes, since I was a kid! Thank you. Sorry you're stuck up there! I saw pictures she took from the resort hotel balcony where she is quarantined, with food service, she is healthy last I heard. Thank you. LOL Thank you very much.

1948 Chevrolet COE, started with AMT 1950 3100 Pickup kit. Partsbox model, based on a resin Cab Over Engine body. Built this when film cameras was the thing, ran this through my studio shoot for Desert Scale Classic COVID Special contest (not entering). If I recall correctly, the COE resin body was All American Models, ordered from a magazine ad, not available now; required massaging the hood, and fenders. I had the bed left over from my Canopy Express project. The headlights, taillights, wheel centers, and 409 decals are from the 1962 Chevrolet Impala 409, which I made a demolition derby for the other magazine contest. Tires are from the horrible Nitto Lamborghini Countach kit, had someone turn aluminum rims. Front bumper is modified AMT Ferrari 250 SWB kit. Mirrors from the Tamiya Volvo BTCC Estate. Resin copy of Tamiya Vehicross gas cap. Detail Master photo etch wipers. Plastistruct diamond plate, the Bare Metal foil has wrinkled up, really need to rip all that off and make new parts, then paint with Alclad. Real Cherry wood bed rails with dovetail corners. Corian is the frame, since it's a true Curbside. Parma fluorescent yellow paint. Scratch-built the grill, running boards, license plate the moves up for trailer hitch. This is the second street rod I ever built, and no plans to build more. Thanks for looking!

72 dodge truck grille
89AKurt replied to Greg Wann's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Just because I remember when these were introduced, and was impressed with the wrap-around taillights, and then my dad got a used '72, am I interested in this subject. That grill come with turn signals? I am anal about the taillights (obviously), don't think the kit looks correct, just an idea to work on making accurate looking units. -
I know right? No more than me. They are nice, and the tires are nice too, have not ruled out. Good looking car, it should be. Oh cool, I see your icon picture. One area is the cowl under the windshield. How about hood hinge? Appreciate the offer. LOL I would be fun.
