Congratulations on an outstanding display, attention, and experience David.

I have no doubt you can pull this off. Do you have any background on this car. I am guessing it is a fiberglass body on a tube frame.

Looks great the way you completed it. Nice backdrop too.

Nice score and your plans for it sound interesting. Either of the box art cars, custom or racing would be super.

Congratulations on the sculpture. It does appear to be a work of art.

Dave, thank you for your response. The '50s and '60s are one of my favorite periods and you have done a super job of capturing the era.

Oh what the heck, I just went ahead and swapped out the wheels. I may drop the front just a bit but will live with it for awhile. The challenge is getting the wheels off the axles, especially the JADA. I ended up nipping off as much of the stem on the wheel as I could reach with my nippers and then pulling as hard as I could. The Welly wheels will need new longer axles.

I have been considering using the Welly 1953 wire wheels and will probably do that. The front wheel picture is the Welly wheel and tire leaning up against the Jada. Since the Welly has a smaller diameter the fender will drop down a bit when installed compared to what the photo shows. The Welly is more like 1/25th scale but I think it will work.

I received my Jada '58 Cady on Monday and promptly followed Gene's directions and removed the top. I am also going to replace the antenna as Gene suggested. Once the top was removed I was surprised to find the girl figure glued to the front passenger seat and had to pry her off and touch up the seat cushion. I thought I had a convertible boot in the parts box that would work but alas it is too narrow and too short but I might be able to section it and add some more to it or just carve a new one from Reshape. Now the wheels and tires. In typical Jada fashion the wheels are oversized. I had a bright idea of painting the outer rim black but that did not work very well, have you ever seen a Series 62 Cady convertible with black walls? One option I am toying with is to turn the wheels down to the hubcap diameter and fitting a set of wide white walls from a Monogram "57 Corvette kit. Other suggestion are welcome.

Looking good Dave and hope for the best with the hip.

Super nice build.

Ah Pico, I can smell the Bondo from here. After restoring a 1:1 Corvette I know that aroma well.

This 1959 Mercury is the oldest that I still have. Originally had the decals and a scoop on the roof but the brush painted green came later.

PORSCHE 907 K - Scratchbuilt from 908 LH body.

Excellent build. You really captured the look of the 907K. -
Thanks Gene for posting the photos. I think they will push me over the edge to get one. Any thoughts on a source for the replacement wheels for the "59?

Very well done,

This is a young male bear outside our kitchen window late one spring. He just finished emptying our bird feeder after pulling it down so he could reach it.

The detail is amazing.

Good looking progress.

Certainly an impressive looking kit. Thanks for sharing the kit photo.

Gene, When you have the Cadillac in hand would you please let us know if the top is removable or not. I sure would appreciate it. Gary

I sent you a PM Randy.

The Cadillac is certainly interesting. I have pretty much ignored the Jada diecast but could be tempted by the Cady and the Chevy looks pretty nice too.

I am glad to see our old school methods still exist Pico.
