  1. Well done.
  2. I have been on the look out for an affordable Danbury Mint 1961 Corvette for quite awhile because it is kind of special for me. My cousin was a draftsman at Molded Fiber Glass Co. in Ashtabula, Ohio where the first Corvette fiberglass bodies were produced. Molded Fiber Glass still had some connection with Chevrolet because well prior to the release of the remodeled 1961 Corvette my cousin was able to draw a sketch for me of what it was going to look like. That plus just like the first Corvette bodies I was born in Ashtabula too. So here is my recently acquired Danbury Mint 1961 Corvette. And here it is with its original plastic SMP cousin.
  3. The graphics/stripes don't bother me as much as the wheels and tires that do. They could be easily replaced but why release such a model with so many discrepancies? Does M2 think they will sell more to youngsters with the drag gear who don't know what it could truly represent 50 years ago. Oh maybe that is the problem. This is what I would like to have had as shown in my Kodak Moment at Mid Ohio.
  4. Another impressive build Rich and I appreciate your explanations and rationale. One question though, what did you use to tint the windscreen? I saw these race at Mid Ohio and they were always exciting to watch and photograph with my Instamatic. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I like the way you painted the exhaust manifold, very realistic.
  6. Amazon says "Brand new box. Has roll cage. Real rubber tires. Has steerable wheels. Opening hood, doors and trunk. Made of diecast with some plastic parts. Detailed interior, exterior, engine compartment. Dimensions approximately L-7.75, W-3, H-2 inches. Tires and wheels are big and littles and look like they are for drag racing. I just do not understand what the folks in charge at M2 where thinking. I will have to pass on this one.
  7. Super job on the Ferrari and it is not red! Good for you.
  8. Has anyone seen the M2 Machines 1969 Sunoco Camaro diecast in 1/24 yet? If you have can you give us a review please. Looks like some decal work is in order. Thanks, Gary
  9. Like Randy I have a 1/18 Yat Ming which was gifted to me. One of only two 1/18 models in my collection.
  10. FWIW this is my final version. I went ahead and bought a beat up Franklin Mint 1953 Caddy for $9 and pulled the wheels from it. I painted the top semi gloss black and replaced the antenna and once I put a black wash in the grille it goes on the shelf. A stock version, even a coupe would be nice.
  11. I would not have guessed the two stack Kyoshos are 1/43rd. Thanks for posting them.
  12. Magnificent builds Rich. You really captured the look and feel of these Ferraris.
  13. Looking good. I have the Corvette which was boxed as a Route 66 release and I like it a lot.
  14. Way to go Geno. Looks much better with the wheels and boot.
  15. You have done a very nice build of this iconic racer. I saw it race and you have brought back some great memories. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Well done.
  17. Very impressive kits indeed. Please keep us posted.
  18. It must be the hot weather which is driving this red convertible compulsion. Went to W'mart this morning to buy a new back up drive for my computer files and just happened to walk by the diecasts. There on the shelf was a Motormax 1958 Chevrolet Impala red convertible for all of $9.99. Already working on a red 1958 Cadillac convertible and thought this would be a good companion pierce. The Chevy has some features that could be better like the hubcaps, taillights, and an antenna that doesn't look like a floor shifter, but for the price it is decent value. It does have an almost recognizable top half of a 348 engine and a continental kit to boot.
  19. Be sure to check out David's collection of slot cars of the same era.
  20. Terrific collection from a great era of racing. Thanks for sharing and posting.
  21. My number one also. I was lucky enough to have owned and restored one.
  22. Beautiful build indeed.
  23. If these were just practice then I think you have already graduated!! very nice builds.
  24. Came out really nice Randy.
  25. Impressive progress. Please keep the updates coming.
