I have the Bedford Tanker kit and it looks kind of intimidating. How was it to build?

Brian and JC, I have what appears to be a factory drawing but the file is too big, 1.23 MB, to post and if I reduce it I am afraid of losing detail. PM me if interested and I will email you a copy. Gary -

When I joined the Air Force I was assigned to a hospital and our section vehicle was a Dodge like this one. What I remember most is that all the controls were very heavy and if it ever had synchros in the transmission they were long gone. Double clutching was the norm.

1/25 vs 1/24 Porsche 904

OK, as you know there are 2 Monogram kits. The original is labeled as 1/24 and was based upon their slot car. Years later Monogram released a 904 originally made by Aurora in 1/25 scale. The original 1/24 model is a very simple curbside with no engine and hubcaps molded onto the wheels. The 1/25 model is very detailed with opening bonnet and hood and a detailed engine. The size difference is noticeable. Shape wise you will just have to take you choice. The model bodies shown left to right are 1/25 Aurora/Monogram, 1/24 ARII, 1/24 Monogram, and 1/24 K&B slot body with molded in glass. Only the 1/25 has an engine. -
Thank you Bill for your comments. One of the challenges with the Gunze kit is getting the seats to fit. I ended up having to grind the sides down. One other thing I found was in my opinion the nose was too flat having been rebuild following striking a dog at Le Mans so I added some material to the top lip of the nose.

I have built two of the Gunze Daytona kits. I happened to measure the frame against the Monogram 427 and found the Gunze to be short. I substituted longer frame tubes, easy to do as the kit uses metal frame tubes, and added a strip to the cowl and the bonnet. I also converted one of the kits to the 1964 configuration. The Gunze kit is based upon CSX2299, the high windscreen chassis. Mike Shoen, who owned CSX2299 at the time, sent me a copy of the photographs that Gunze used to make their kit from. I would post those but do not have permission to do so from Mike Shoen. Here are my builds and I included the my build of the Mini Exotics Super Coupe on a Monogram chassis.

The one word which keep repeating in the responses is gorgeous, I agreed whole heartedly.

Both your Olds are looking good. It is a shame about the wheels on the Welly.

Thank you for sharing the diorama and the family back story. They are both great.

Very nicely done and realistic too.

Very nice indeed.

I am dying with envy. Gary

Super nice Corvette.

I had not checked eBay in awhile and surprised at the number and variety of Hachette offerings of Japanese and Russian diecasts in 1/24. These are not in my lane and prices and shipping vary all over the place.

Very nice collection Fred. Thank you for sharing the photos.

Very informative David and the Vaseline idea sounds like a good way to protect parts that are hard to remove and or mask.

One suggestion for the paddle boat is if you can find a straight on side view take it to a sign shop and they can print it to any size you want. As to the figures there is a Henry Ford set that might have the appropriate men but the women I just don't know. Shapeways has some fences that might work.
