Very nice build indeed. I built the kit in 1959 and am sure the box art was the inspiration. Luckily I still have it. Thanks for sharing and the memories.

I am very impressed with your craftmanship and execution. -
That's the word I was looking for and could not think of it, ART!

This should be a really good restoration. I will be watching.

Good looking rallye cars for sure.

Good looking castings. You know I never noticed the sparse interior in the '53 but then that was 40+ years ago or more. Now before you jump all over me I never widened the fenders, the wood frame rails might not have supported the extra weight of the extra sheet metal. Ha, ha, just kidding. -
Thanks for posting JC and Rex. Us old timers had a great time seeing the models and good friends. Gary

Outstanding! I would be proud to cruise the streets in that one.

Randy, If they are the same Sunnyside 57 Corvettes I have seen pictures of they are not good at all. The grille protrudes too far, the wheels and tires are not stock, the steering wheel is not correct, etc. Maybe convert to a race car is the only thing I can think of. How about a Sebring race version? Gary

I am liking your build a lot. I had the Craftsman and the Styline kits, that I converted to racers now wish I had a still had them.

I am amazed with what you were able to do with this model.

It is a scale issue for me.

Very nice indeed!!

I just had new tires put on my Jeep and didn't get anything but a long wait when the tire changer broke the alignment rig. Then they had the gall to tell me I needed an alignment! A week later I took it into the dealer for a recall and they have one of these drive through alignment rigs and said the alignment was fine. Sorry for going off topic.

The Zen of Model Building
Gramps46 replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting perspective JC. I have gone back and looked at my list of unfinished models and came to realize that once I had conquered the real challenges of obscure research, scratch building, modifying, correcting, etc. I pretty much lost interest in the more mundane final assembly. -
It came out very well, responded to your touch beautifully.

It is pretty amazing that the postal folks in Japan could get things moving in New York and your new order is pretty spectacular.

Super nice builds.

Sweet build, thanks for sharing the survivor.

I paid less than a cheeseburger and fries so I am not too broken up over it and the wheels, which are some of the best Corvette aluminum wheels I have seen, are much better than the original AMT kit wheels and the gas cap is worth saving and put to good use.

Based upon Bob Downie's recommendation I ordered the Welly 2017 Ford GT and am not disappointed at all. Thanks Bob. The Revell 1963 Corvette roadster promo I have been chasing for an affordable one for some time. Finally found one under $30. The Revell diecast of the same is an unmitigated disaster.
