Well done, a real step back in time and thanks for sharing your beautiful build. Adding the Hot Rod magazine is a nice touch.

I like it and how you put it together is convincing. -
Your favourite Box art
Gramps46 replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Why are these my favorite box art models? Because I built them and took the pictures for the box art of course The first is the Mini Exotics Aston Martin DBR1. The bottom one is the Bill Koons (Images) Porsche 908-3 transkit for the Heller 908. Now back to our regular programing. -
Your Favorite or Interesting Race Car Livery
Gramps46 replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
FWIW. Dick Lang was the son of a Chevrolet dealer in Xenia Ohio who raced Corvettes in the late 50s and early 60s. The Internal Revenue Service challenged his writing off of his racing expenses as advertising for the dealership and they went to court. The court ruled it was allowable and thus the rapid expansion of liveries and sponsorships. -
Do you need a set of deep dish chrome wheels with dog dish hubcaps like the photo. Send me a PM and I will get them in the mail to you.

I am impressed with the concrete, well done.

Early Karmann Ghia Model - Who made it?
Gramps46 replied to Gramps46's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ellen, This had a one piece body, fairy thick. Thanks though for your response. Wish you well in the weather this week. Gary -
This is a bit of a mystery for me. This red plastic Karmann Ghia appears in a picture of my models in 1960 and I have no idea who made it. I lived in a small town with only one variety store in 1960 and of course there were no model magazines and certainly no internet to order something like this so I must have gotten it locally. The decals are from an AMT Trophy Series kit so they are no help. Unfortunately the model is long gone from my collection. Do any of you old timers here recognize what it is or have a clue who might have produced it.

Super nice models, thanks for sharing. -
I love seeing the oldies and what you have done with them. Maybe it is because of our similar ages.

Looking good!

Beautiful saves.

Thank you for posting these. I like your idea of leaving them plain as if they just left the factory.

It looks like an ambitious project but I am sure you can do it.
