In 1964 Revell was promoting their 1/32 slot racing sets and offered prints of their four racers for $1.00. Yes, that is correct $1.00. I rushed to send in my $1 and fell in love with the Corvette. It became my dream car. Of course I had to build a model of my dream car and used an original issue AMT 1963 Split Window. Added some Halibrand Kidney Bean mags and some UMI number decals and there it was in scale. Then in the mid 1970s the dream came true, my own Split Window! It needed a lot of work but I was up for it.

I really appreciate your building this and sharing it with us. As mentioned already it was a major expenditure, but I was one of the lucking ones to get one.

1966* Ford J Car - April Trials
Gramps46 replied to Gramps46's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Well once again I screwed up. The center stripe should be black like the sill strips, not blue. Fortunately I have a Cady decal sheet with the right size stripes. -
That Marcos is truly an amazing look car. I was not familiar with it so looked it up and yours in scale does it justice.

Old fumble fingers posted this in the wrong place initially. Trying again. Shelby American ordered 2 competition spec Cobras in 1963 from AC Cars to be prepared for Le Mans. The specification included one with LHD and one with RHD, Dunlop mag wheels, modest fender flairs, enlarged gas tanks, fastback top and short trunk lids. Both cars remained in England till the LM race. Drivers of the white car, CSX 2142, were an American Ed Hugus and Englishman Peter Jopp while the green car, CSX 2132, was driven by Englishmen Bolton and Sanderson. Stirling Moss was the team manager. The white CSX 2142, DNF Engine failure. CSX2132 finished 7th. The model was based upon an AMT 1/25th scale Cobra kit. I beat Brad (Historic Racing Miniatures) with my own vacuum formed top, fender flares, and side fender vents. Unfortunately, the white paint has yellowed over the years.

Now that is one smart looking rally car Rich. The decal work is remarkable. The posable front wheels are what we have come to expect, bravo. -
You look very pleased Snake.

Thanks to all for your responses. I just tried to check the front frame and engine and now I am not certain whether I used an Aurora or Revell kit for those as I don't have either one to compare. -
Thanks for sharing a green DB5 as it sure looks good. Can't beat the price either.
