  1. Rich, the engine was from a Revell XKE.
  2. 1954 Jaguar #14 Le Mans OKV 1 Another build from out of the archive. This is a Strombecker kit that has had an engine and fin added and detailed to the 1954 configuration as driven by Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton to second place behind a Ferrari 375 Plus.
  3. I had missed this one earlier so glad it is back. Have learned a several things watching your techniques which I appreciate.
  4. Looking good. I agree with Helmut, go easy on the gloss.
  5. A very well done iconic white Corvette Grand Sport. Thanks for sharing it with us.
  6. I like it a lot. But the interior is a bit of a letdown I am afraid.
  7. I just ordered some Ferrari Red and will give it a try. What color of primer did you use?
  8. I am not a color expert but that looks pretty darn good.
  9. Thanks Rex for the decal pic. I looked and I do have that one in my stash and it confirmed my Island Collectables connection too.
  10. Good to see the progress you are making. Please keep us posted.
  11. Appreciate the update.
  12. Interesting topic. Over the years (60+) of model building I have gravitated to a theme in my building and that is cars that have raced at the 24 Hours of Lemans. I enjoy the research and have amassed a large collection of both printed and digital reference materials related to this theme. My objective is to tell a story about the evolution of the race illustrated by the models. Having members here with the same interests to share with is a real bonus.
  13. I told the county water department there was a water problem near the street. They looked at it and said it was groundwater even though we have been in a drought. Finally, after another call they decided with water flowing out of the ground it was not groundwater but their leakng pipe problem. To their credit they jumped right on it and had it fixed in about 6 hours. Fortunately for me the leak was between their main water pipe and the meter so no cost to me.
  14. Nice collection you have inherited Ray. Thank you for sharing. Are they all the same scale?
  15. This is a build of the Hasegawa kit but at the time I did know of the Tamiya kit. I had to make the changes to the Hasegawa to the LeMans configuration.
  16. Rex, the CMA instructions say use the Fujimi MK II kit which was the only Fujimi kit available at the time. The decals came via Island Collectibles but I don't know who made them.
  17. Looking good. I like the idea of slicing tubes for scoops.
  18. In the 1966 FIA season Skip Scott, with sponsorship from the Essex Wire Corporation, fielded a team of 2 Ford MK1 GT40s. At LeMans, #59 was driven by Skip and Peter Revson but In the 15th hour the engine let them down unfortunately. This model is a Fujimi with a CMA resin transkit for the body. The transkit was released before Fujimi had released a kit of the MKI, only the MKII Comment: With my models I strive for accuracy and realism because that is what I enjoy. Others have said that accuracy and backgrounds can detract from the model itself. That is OK, to each his own.
  19. There are times when I wish I had the guts to try something like this. I actually like what you are doing.
  20. As the others have said a really beautiful build of an iconic car. Thank you for sharing it with us.
  21. Wishing you the very best in your recovery. So good to see you back, we missed you.
  22. These are at the top of my list that I really need to get built.
  23. Yes those are the two. They both come in different colors and markings.
  24. Does anyone have any experience with the Mondo Motors Lamborghini P400 or the Maserati MC12 in 1/24 scale?
  25. This looks super great. All the mods you did really paid off.
