1947 Chevy electric truck for sale.
BlackSheep214 replied to Scott8950's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Water isn’t the best option to put out an EV fire. I’m not even sure if foam helps either. This is exactly my point when it comes to EV fires and batteries. No one has any idea how to control these types of fires. -

Wow.... $13 on a rattle can of Duplicolor? Why not buy MCW paints instead? They have a wide range of colors of every make and years. -

Expensive repairs. Very expensive repairs than gas powered vehicles. Those repairs will exceed the value what you paid for your EV. -

I’m in 100% agreement with Ace and superdan. Diesel fuel supply is about to be shut down soon. What then? Snowplows, Amtrack, Fire engines, Buses and other essential vehicles won’t be able to do their job. You’re screwed. EV is not for everybody and these green nuts needs to get their head out of their…. well, you fill in the blank and think realistically and logically. Apparently they don’t or don’t want to. All this is going to blow up in their face. Sooner or later they’ll be protesting the environment is being polluted by dead EV batteries in landfills. So who’s the blame here? Look… I get it. Some folks like EV. I don’t nor ever will own one. I am 100% in support on HYBRID vehicles. This is a better win win for everybody. It’s bad enough new houses are banned from installing gas lines for heat or appliances. Even gas appliances are being banned. I’ve used electric stoves before and I can tell you I absolutely hate them with a passion. Electric heat is very expensive when adding operating cost on top of it all with electric stoves and dryers usage. What’s next? Electric airplanes? Yeah…. Imagine running out of juice at mid-flight and the plane has no place to go but down nose first or belly land on water or land (God forbid if you can find an open field to land on not over a city or town) because you can’t lower the landing gears due no electric power. I’d rather hear a rumble or growl on a muscle car/hot rod/street machine than a quiet EV car. Classic cars are meant to be heard not be silenced. Scott8950…. that’s the scariest problem. Nobody really knows what puts out a massive EV lithium battery fire. I can guarantee folks will die from serious burns in EV car crashes and massive lawsuits will follow. I fear for my son’s future and generations going forward. -
Geez... what gotten into Hollywood these days? Nobody can’t write an original screenplay anymore? There are plenty of books that can be made into movies. But remakes? I don’t like them. They always seem to leave out or make a drastic scene change from the original.

Monopoly game board corner..... LOL! Good one.

ROFL! Never said I didn’t like Hobby Lobby. Just stating my local HL has the same old stock aside from the 3 or 4 new released kits.

Yay....?

I get a lot of inspiration/ideas from magazines (Hot Rod, Muscle Cars, etc...) muscle/custom car calendars, car shows, auto auctions on TV (Mecum, Jackson Barrett, etc...) Pinterest, online search images. There’s a lot of places to inspire ideas to your builds.

I’m a big fan of his show. Love the hijinks between him and Tim Allen. Cracks me up every time. Sending wishes for a speedy recovery.

B-17 and P-63 King Cobra gone for ever
BlackSheep214 replied to Mike 1017's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
My take... I disagree on all 5 points. This is straight up pilot error and/or reckless flying. The KingCobra was coming in fast on his turn and literally clipped the Fort in half. A B-17 Fortress isn’t a fast bomber but the KingCobra sure is since it is a fighter plane. This is a gut wrenching tragedy. Several people died, two WW2 era aircrafts no more. Plain stupidity for hotdogging during an air show. This now brings the total of flyable B-17 Forts down to less than 5. There are a total of about 10 surviving B-17s - most on static display or in museums. Will the investigation prevent future air shows from flying WW2 era aircrafts? No. But it won’t be too surprising they put a stop to pilots doing crazy stunts around other vintage aircrafts in the air. Don’t be a bit surprised they fault the pilot of the KingCobra. -
That’s was my point of my original post. Sure, HL does offer a few kits in their stores as found in online stores. Don’t get me wrong, 40% off sales is hard to beat. But they have the same old, same old boring model kit stock selections. Rare you might find something new. The Cocoa Cola kits are ridiculously priced compared to a regular version of the kit Meh... I’ll pass on those but each to his own if you’re a fan of Cocoa Cola special edition kits. They’re not my thing. Heck, I’m still waiting for HL to stock the newly reissued Streaker Vette. I’ve been waiting and hoping they restock the ‘70 Camaro Full Bumper version too. I doubt they’ll get either kits in their stores anytime soon. Oh well.... it don’t bother me much.

For any Military Aviation buffs

Release the hogs!! -
Now you know why I never buy appliances at Lowe’s or Home Depot. Bunch of idiots who don’t want to go beyond to satisfy their customers. Too much work for them to do nowadays. Nobody wants to work anymore.
-
Irrelevant post. HL never is known for carrying a wide variety of kit choices. They certainly don’t stock those kits above. LOL! Even Hobbylinc is cheaper.... Shipping charges you can’t avoid but once in awhile they may offer sort of promotion on free shipping/reduced shipping charges. Especially when LHS are pretty rare nowadays. So yeah, I still stand by my “Stick it” comment. ROFL!

Current building techniques
BlackSheep214 replied to Bobjernigan3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same here. Started this hobby when I was 6 or 7 yrs old, kept going well into my early 20s. By then I started hanging out with friends getting a girlfriend or two, engagement then a wedding. I resumed this hobby about 10-11 years ago and still going. Thankfully, my wife supports my hobby but hates it when I buy more kits, paint & supplies. LOL! As far as her complaining about too many model kits, I explain to her it’s called a stash. You never have enough kits. I also tell her, when I retire, I’ll have enough kits to be busy with in my golden years. I like to tell her.... Believe me now, Thank me later. -
All the years I’ve driven in snow - good, bad, and downright horrible, I’ve never gotten in an accident. I have seen far too many stupid drivers up against a guard rail because he was going too fast for road condition, in a hurry, or simply forgot the laws of physics driving in snow. Even those driving 4X4s, AWD vehicles is a sight to see be it they’ve spun out into a ditch, guardrail or into another car. Yeah, dumb***….. you deserved it for your stupidity in driving in winter. Winter driving heightens my awareness around me.

I can get model car kits far cheaper at Scalehobbyist than at HL. Most kits starts at $19.99 at Scalehobbyist. Hobby Lobby starts at $34.99 - $39.99. I’d tell Hobby Lobby to stick it where the sun don’t shine.

Plastic Tires
BlackSheep214 replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Something like that. Wasn’t exactly sure if it was the ‘56 or not. But you’re correct. -
LOL! Reminds me a story one day I got called into my boss’s office. Apparently, one of the male couriers got too sensitive to an insult I called him. Mind you he was a laid off police officer to boot. It was brought to my attention that I called him an @**h***. My response was.... “Yeah? And what of it? A big boy as himself should handle it. Heck, I’ve been called that all my life. Ask my wife, she’ll tell you” That was the end of that conversation cuz she had no response to my statement except to get out of her office. ROFL! I’m still working at my current place of employment and both the boss and employee have since been gone for 15 years or so now.

Amen brother! We all have been punished by a wooden spoon on your arse or thighs, smack across the arse, etc... It never hurt or traumatized us one bit in our later years. It’s called learning our lessons for our stupidity as kids. No wonder there are too many helicopter parents and spoiled kids. Sad to say, kids today are simply too spoiled and never experienced a good old fashioned punishment just as we had as kids during the 60s and 70s.

Plastic Tires
BlackSheep214 replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ick! Plastic tires are usually found on military vehicle kits. When I first saw the kit box cover at HL, I was leery of what the contents may have be. No chrome on box cover Camaro wheels or anywhere. I wonder if the pink ‘57 T-bird is a snap kit with no chrome sprue trees too. -
LOL! Next time get a wooden spoon instead of a belt.
