Dear hobby friends....
Jantrix replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Inspiration. That's it. If I look at a kit online, on the shelf, wherever, and I hit upon a cool idea, I buy it. I do not impulse buy or because of a favorite subject matter. If I did, I'd have one of the crazy 500+ collections like some of you madmen out there. ? When I come up with a fun idea, I buy. Kits with lots of fun options, of course, will increase the likelihood of the fun idea happening though. The only exception - cheap parts kits at a swap meet or something. A kit with a great engine or chassis for $5-10 is hard to pass up. -
I've got this one that has been waiting for an idea.

I might be able to find something as well.

I posted something with regard to next years Cannonball. Check it out.
-
First off, I’d like to start this by thanking Anthony (Disconovaman) for taking over the Cannonball Run CBP. He did an excellent job in 2020, and I’m sure the same will be true for 2021. The reason I’m posting, is that I came up with a theme idea, (I may not run the CBR anymore, but I still think about it) and bounced it off Anthony, and we both love the idea. So, the following is my suggestion for the theme for the 2021 Cannonball Run CBP. We have done all sorts of themes throughout our now, 14-year history on two forums. Most all have been car/year specific. I’m suggesting something a bit more kit specific. That is - disguised race cars. In the 1981 film there’s a scene where Father Jamie Blake makes fun of the girls Lambo, snidely referring to it as a disguised race car. That was the inspiration for this. So, the rules for my suggestion would be the following. Take any kit that was released as a purpose-built race car and modify it so that it could be used to race cross country on public roads. This would include rally, stock, drift, IMSA, drag, circle track, road course etc. car that was purpose built for racing and wore livery. Now a case could be made that lots of cars nearly stock wore livery and raced. I’d be asking you to be a little more creative than just building a ’69 Nova, Charger, Mustang with street tires. I’m looking for all our usual suspects, our regular bunch of Cannonball scofflaws to give this a thought and chime in with your opinions on the idea. If enough people like the idea, we’ll go with it, if not, Anthony will run the usual poll to let folks decide next years theme. I will be doing my best to participate as a builder/racer this year.

Really slick work. Looks mean.

Looking for my old Cannonball pal Zenrat. He's AFK since 4/19. He's from Mount Martha, Victoria, Australia. If anyone knows him, tell him to drop by and say hi.

Normally, out scale isn't a deal breaker for me, happily, but those original parts would bother even me. I think you did a terrific job engineering new ones and it's a real shame you had to. Ataboy.

Same here. I did a Viper V10 '79 Camaro. ?

Slight he says. LOL! Looking good Al. I dig it.

Just finished a terrific trade with Paul Payne that went very well, for some seriously hard to find parts. He offered to and did mail before we'd even gotten my end ironed out. Very pleased.

I've built this one. It is double tough to get low in the back without major surgery, if realism is important to you. Nice work so far. Looking good

MCM Relaunch Update 10/2020
Jantrix replied to larrygre's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
LOL! I was there at GSL when he was taking those and in his defense they looked terrific on the computer. Really great. In print, well..................... -
Who else here is a musician or plays an instrument?
Jantrix replied to Hotrod 97's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
In Grade 4, the music teacher calmly took the recorder from my hands and said "go join the choir, son". I stayed in the choir throughout school and for a couple years sang harmony with a female lead singer in a local, on again/off again rock band. It is a regret of mine (and I don't have many) that I never did learn an instument. Piano music speaks to me and I wish I'd learned. -
A perfect 70's time capsule. Tunnel ram and over carbed? Check. Spring shackles? Check. Slapper bars in customary eye catching yellow? Check. Front bumper delete? Check. Autometer gauge package, functionality optional? Check. Hooker headers and no exhaust system, neighbors furious? Check. Big block (cuz small blocks are for wusses) with Morosso dress up kit? Check. Cragar SS and some wide tires in the rear? Check. As I said, a perfect time capsule. This car could have been seen in any town, on any street when I was growing up. I love it. Actually, the only thing missing maybe .............................. hood pins. Those knuckle heads put them on everything back then. Terrific work. I dig it.

Outstanding work. The only thing missing is the NOT FOR SALE sign.
-
That looks terrific. Very impressive.

A terrific model. I must say this is a first time I have ever seen anyone add bug strikes to the front of a model car. It must have been driving in my neighborhood this past summer.
