  1. Thanks. I hope Austin works out for ya. It's a great life. Happy to hear it. Per our rules, you can join this CBP at ANY time up to 48 hours from the finish.
  2. Lets not start that again.
  3. I quite agree. However not everyone gets a positive experience on a public forum. All it takes if someone to get a bad critique, or worse, ignored entirely, and that's it they are done with forums. As for Facebook, it is useful to me. However, if the social aspect is not your cup of tea, you CAN join, set up your privacy settings so that you are pretty well insulated from the rest of the world, and use it ONLY for the hobby. You control how much of your info is there. Model clubs, model manufacturers, aftermarket suppliers, resin casters, decal manufacturers, they are all there. I see a lot of people on this forum snub FB, but it's a tool. And like any tool, you have to know how to use it to get the effect you want. And you don't have to be a computer wiz to do it. FB has tools right on it to help you set up your privacy.
  4. Very nice! One of the nicer builds of that kit I've seen.
  5. I think the reason that might be, is that only some model builders are all that involved in the internet side of the hobby. Or if they are, are lurkers, not participants. I've been a member of three local model clubs. MOST members are/were not a member of an online group, beyond the clubs page on Facebook.
  6. What he said. I like it.
  7. Man, that is slick. Terrific work.
  8. Very impressive.
  9. Man the attention to detail is just terrific. What a treat.
  10. First things first. I've separated the plenum from the turbos. The tan piece is a header collector (I think) that is the perfect size for a carb hat. Next is to mount the turbos. More voodoo soon.
  11. Sorry to hear about your loss. But I know about a busy year. Two years ago we made the decision to leave Florida for the less hectic lifestyle in Boise, Idaho. Next week my parents (70's) will be joining us after nearly 40 years in Florida. Getting them settled here will be a chore. Also, in December I will welcome my first grandchild. Add the endless chores of the farm, and it's likely I won't finish my P2P racer this year.
  12. If you check out the instructions, see the tube that goes to the plenum under the carb? If those tubes went to the top of the carb, it's a simple blow through setup. Like the photo but without the intercoolers.
  13. For a recent club build off I decided upon the venerable Monogram ’56 Chevy hardtop. Engine options are a small block Chevy with a Z-28 cross ram with dual carbs OR the much maligned and mechanically botched, twin turbo blow though/draw though intake. I have to say I’ve never seen anyone take a serious crack at the twin turbo engines. So that’s what I’m going to do. This twin turbo was added to two Monogram kits that I’m aware of. The blue version of the 1956 Chevy and the 1969 Camaro Z-28. The Z-28 has some pretty wonky body dimensions and is not very popular. But it has some really good parts if you like 1/24 kits. I have both engines. The Z-28 engine has a different block and other parts, but the turbo parts are identical. After some study of both types of turbo, and examining the kit parts and instructions, it seems that the kit designer had both setups on his mind, drank a six pack and then went to the drawing board. What we ended up with is turbos set up for blow though, with carbs set up for draw though. With some minor tweaks and scratch building we can successfully build either. I’m going to do both, starting with the blow though for this ’56. The draw through will be a little more complicated and I’ll do it afterward. I’m going to do this with as little modification of the kit parts as possible. Here's where I am so far. More soon.
  14. I dig it. Nice work.
  15. What! No fender flares!? But seriously folks, that's some nice work. My vote is to lose the scoop.
  16. You are welcome to do so, but the real P2P is only run every three years or so. So like as not the P2P won't be run next year. I can only imagine the logistics that have to go with something like this.
  17. That's looking good. I like it. I've decided to remove the deadline for this CBP. Things have been way too busy on the farm this spring and yesterday was my first bench time in months. I'm sure there are others in the same situation. Since this isn't a contest likek the Cannonball CBP, I don't see a point to keeping the deadline. Build on fellas.
  18. This MPC Charger. Done when I was 17 in 1985.
  19. Very nice work. I haven't painted figurines in years. I did some D&D figurines and Battetech also. I enjoyed it.
  20. I live in a canyon about 40 miles east of Boise, Idaho. There's rumors of black bear in the neighborhood but no proof yet. My neighbor has tracked a mountain lion within 300 yards of my home though.
  21. There's a lot of cool on this one. I like it.
  22. I'm a first generation guy. So much of the design of this car speaks to me. This particular beauty is a 1966 hemi car.
