I do appreciate a good post-apoc model. I like where this is going.

BB Chevy Engine Question
Jantrix replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill and I have discussed this intake a couple of times. I can find no 1:1 reference to this setup anywhere. However, making this engine work properly, wouldn't take a lot of modifications. I have some pics on my other PC of the right way. Do a Google search for draw through turbos and you'll eventually find a dual turbo Pantera that shows the right way quite clearly. I will eventually get around to building a version. -
The theme for this years Cannonball CBP is "inliners".
-
Glad you guys like it. Starting on the rest of the engine.

This is my entry for this years Cannonball. After so many in-completes, my goal this year, is keep the amount of custom work to a minimum so I actually finish the model in the 11 months allotted. So the plan, 1. Engine swapped to a single turbo 225 slant six, with a modern automatic tranny from an AMT 5.7L hemi. 2. Wheel / tires from the AMT Phantom Vickie 3. Bumpers from the Monogram '37 Ford coupe 4. Paint and assemble That's it. Here's where I'm at. Hope you like it. I'm kicking around a hydro dipped paint job, because I've always wanted to, and with wraps in the 1:1 world, literally anything is possible on a car.

Same here.

Some work getting done down on the 'ol homestead. What do you think of my solution for the hole in the hood?
-
A quick note. This in-liner theme is as narrow a theme as we've ever done. There are bound to be folks doing the same engines, cars, whatever. Don't let this bother you. Build on if that's what you want to build.

Bill, I think I speak for everyone when I say, you have our attention. A very unusual and very cool idea you have there and we'll be looking forward to seeing it come together. I've added you to the roster. If anyone needs to be added to the roster, on the second post in this thread, please make sure we've seen photos of your unstarted project, and let me know.

How to judge car models?
Jantrix replied to GerN's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You judge workmanship. Period. I don't care where the parts come from or how they are produced. Resin and aluminum parts are already giving those with the financial wherewithal a step up on detail, but they still get beat at contest. It's how the builder preps, paints and assembles that wins awards. -
1/25 Scale 10" or 11" Wide M&H Pie Crust Slicks?
Jantrix replied to Casey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Boot Hill Express? I'm at work right now, but I'll measure them tonight if you need. They are 1:24 though. -

1. I'm not a big custom guy. In most cases I prefer the stock proportions and trim. 2. I really like this one. The mods are subtle and could easily have been stock had a different designer been on the job that day. The top chop is particularly good. Well done.

Very cool. I have a hot wheel I've been meaning to replicate as well. Thanks for reminding me.

12 years ago??That's crazy

Yes, happily this forum was just coming up as things at the SA forums were starting to get draconic. Harry and many of our regulars here were fixtures there as well. It's a good time to reflect on just how much the internet and forums like this have improved our hobby. Access to the aftermarket aside, just he ability to communicate and share ideas and techniques have vastly improved my work as well as adding a social aspect that I appreciate. Technology can be a two edged sword, but here, now, it's a good thing. -

Some more work done on the '41 Willys. Slant six is in place. Intercooler fabricated and in place. Lots to do yet, but I should have the chassis rolling soon.

Where did the scoop come from? It would be perfect for a current project.
