When is the madness going to stop
Oldcarfan27 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Next up you need a Pontiac OHC/6 to put in a 66 GTO for a Tempest Sprint. -

I don't see anything on the link that states anything was restored. I presume it's the same as it was in the last reissues. Tires notwithstanding.

Best served with liver, Fava beans and a nice Chianti. ?

I wish they would've included the figures in the reissues. It wouldn't have been copyright infringement, the figures NEVER look like the actual people anyway. They wouldn't have to label them as the band members, just call them "passengers".

Wasn't she was in a movie with Elvis? -
I hope you haven't given up on this project. I just found some pics that show where the midget originated. Apparently 64Comet404 and AceGarageguy were right, it started as an Austin Healy Bugeye Sprite, became an A/H Sprite, which then became the MG Midget. So the chassis, interior and lower body panels are correct, just graft the MGB body parts to the Gunze Bugeye and you're well on your way! Don't get discouraged, this setback might be the opportunity to make it even better!

Parts box builds are some of the most fun projects to do. They're like a box of chocolates: "You never know what you're going to get!"

Monogram Ford Ranger
Oldcarfan27 replied to Luc Janssens's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I have the Krusher monster truck, AFAIR it doesn't have the bed cover. I also have the High Rollers issue too, but I've never checked that one. Not a big deal, I just didn't know any issue came with the cover. Looks real good with one. -

Shelby real or fake?

Reminds me of an old joke: The head's been replaced twice and the handle has been replaced 3 times, But this George Washington hatchet is all original! -

Looks so good like that! Where did you get the bed cover? That's not included in that kit. -
Grand Prix Engine Question
Oldcarfan27 replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That should work fine. It's 1/24, but for 1/25 it would look large enough to fill the bay like the 1:1 does. I think the Revell engine was slightly undersized anyway. -

That's a glue bomb? I've got unbuilt kits that don't look that good! Keep on rolling.

Kit Preferences
Oldcarfan27 replied to Horrorshow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When AMT, MPC and Johan had promotional contracts with the car manufacturers - metal axles and molded in chassis details made assembling the parts quick and easy for mass production. As kits later became integrated into the design of the promos, separate seats, hoods and exhaust/rear drivelines were added, but kept simple so as to be a bridge between quick assembly and better detailed. You can't allow the fast production of promos to be bogged down by having to glue several small parts into subassemblies and then glue those into major assemblies. Costs and production time of thousands of promos would have been prohibitively expensive and incredibly tedious. For the time, compromises had to be made. Nowadays there are no more promos, so details can go through the roof and we as builders can take as long as we want to finish it. Just don't expect to make a living on mass producing them. -

Grand Prix Engine Question
Oldcarfan27 replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It should look the same. Externally, they look identical. All the goods are inside! And yes, those exhaust manifolds are on backwards!!! ? Jay, did you get all the ski gear with the kit? I got a glue bomb 70 years ago and the builder glued the rack on the roof - ruining the vinyl top details. He also glued on all the pimp paraphernalia, the side pipes, hood bulges (retro-spare tire covers?) and the spare tire on the trunk. Mine was a mess, but it was cheap. Still trying to piece it back together. -
With the images of the Aurora 1/16 funny cars in this months (Oct 22) Round 2 new announcements video, wouldn't it be an absolute scream if it was some of those? IIRC, they did clone the shop equipment in 1/25 for the parts pack sets they released a couple years ago, so it is a possibility. That would definitely get a crowd to "freak" as Tim Boyd stated!
