  1. Very nice model! Looking forward to see more from your "vault"...
  2. Fantastic build! Even at second and third glance, I don't see any issues with the clear and the decals. What kind of clear did you use?
  3. Great result, Dann! The color and finish are nothing short of beautiful. Personally, I would have gone for a dark metallic blue for my own build (yet to come, one day...) but yours is looking VEEERY nice, too... Regarding the Italeri kit, I must however say that to my knowledge this one is identical to the Revell kit that I own myself. Speaking of Italeri... I don't know how it is in the USA, but in Germany/ Europe new car model kit releases by Italeri nowadays mostly are just re-releases of old Protar (best case) or Esci (worst case) kits. Some current examples being the Lancia Stratos, Lancia Delta Integrale, Ford Escort Mk. 2, Lamborghini Miura (the Esci one with the awful truck-like doors...). Looking forward however to the upcoming (re-)release of the Alfa Romeo 1600 Giulia Spider (originally be Protar).
  4. Thanks for you kind words, folks! Not really much of a choice, Alex... The standard wheels included in the kit look like... I don't know... soup plates or something... : https://www.scalemates.com/kits/939397-fujimi-039299-nissan-fairlady-240zg Fortunately, this has been the later (2015) edition of the kit, in which Fujimi were reasonable enough to include those extra 15" Watanabe rims and fitting tyres. So all it took was a little bit of lowering the body... No, the hatch is closed in the kit but has been opened by me. Once I got the taste for cutting body parts open, there was no stopping me... I did some anthracite-colored flocking on the rear interior part and made a partial black cover for the area below the hatch aswell. Das ist nett von dir, dankeschön! This is simply Tamiya TS 12 sprayed from the can and polished to a glossy, but "natural" finish. No clear coat has been applied!
  5. Thanks again folks! This is "Ferrari Rosso Metallizzato" from Gravity Colors Europe, item no. GC-217. And 2k clear on top of that...
  6. I rather like the natural gloss on my Nissan 240 ZG Fairlady. Note that there is no clear coat on it, just Tamiya TS 12 and good ol' polishing work...
  7. Hi folks, earlier this year, I have spent quite some time on doing this, so I'd like to show the results... As you may know this kit comes with a fully detailed 6-cylinder engine, but, for whatever reasons, with the bonnet closed. So it took some cutting to open the bonnet in order to be able to create the engine bay. I also opened the trunk door which made it necessary to make a simple opening mechanism (made from Evergreen material) and to modify the glass parts, using transparent plastic sheet material. I also decided to give the model a little touch by using tiny metal rivets in the fender widening. So here we go, I hope you like it:
  8. Hi Dann, unbelievable! I have that same PE set... But then again, this build is about the Miura SV, and the SV (unlike the "normal" Miura) did NOT have those eye lashes. So they shouldn't be required anyway, or am I mistaken...?
  9. Thanks again, folks! Yesss... You either like these wheels or you don't... Yes, you have the option to go for stock or custom wheels. Even though normally I'm not a fan of custom parts on a beautiful vintage car, I went for those custom wheels because I think the Vette looks a bit too "tame" on stock wheels. The body had to be lowered just a tiny bit in order to make it all look nice. I skipped the custom decals though (flame decals to be applied on the side of body...)
  10. Hi Dann, I've seen this kit being done for so many times now and yet I'm sure you will add a new level of quality to it... Very anxious to see your further process, especially the "honeycomb grille trick"... Btw, isn't it strange that this type of grille is not available as separate aftermarket material in our beloved modelling scale? At least I have not found anything to this day. One could use this on several models besides the Miura, Ford GT 2016, for instance...
  11. Hi there, great, I like it... I take it that's the Revell kit?? The color is somewhat out of the ordinary but suits the car very well...
  12. Hello Alex, as with many great artists, THEY notice when they lose a few percent of their skills, but the public don't. So even if you might know what you might have done better ten years ago, it's still a great model and a real eye-pleaser... As far as your accident is concerned, I read an old interview on http://www.modelcarbeasts.com earlier this year while doing some research, so I knew about this. I was gladly surprised to find you back on the forum yesterday, so in the interest of high quality modelling, I trust you will be active on a regular basis now...
  13. Great start and progress on the R34. I love the color and the finish is the visual definition of "brilliance"! I also like the panel lines. It can't be stressed enought how vital that is to a great, realistic-looking finish. The engine's coming along nice, too. Would be nice to see more builds of you again. Your website may be a bit outdated technical-wise, but the contents are still great to read and to look at. So rather spend your time on new projects...
  14. Thanks folks, for your kind feedback. I'm glad you like the Vette... Yes, they are nice, but in fact, they are more a lovely touch by Revell as they are included in the kit! Thoughtful of them, isn't it? Well, actually it's a metallic red Ferrari color from Gravity Colours. It's quite similar to the color used on one of the models shown on the kit's box, which I liked a lot... Yes, it's a decal. The kit's body comes with the CORVETTE letters done as raised letters but there is also a decal included for those who want to make it easy on themselves... The decal looked good, so I sanded down the raised letters and used it. I'm happy with it!
  15. Thanks, Alex... I'm flattered to get a compliment from such a maestro... Funny that I was just in the process of exploring your great tutorials on http://italianhorses.net/Tutorials/tutorials.htm around the time of this build...
  16. Hi folks, some months ago, I did the Revell kit of the '62 Corvette Roadster. I think the kit is great and the only issue I was facing was replacing the "chrome" on the kit's parts by something looking a bit more "real"... Hope you like it, here we go:
  17. Hi Dann, your performance on this kit is just great - and everybody knows it. Keep up the excellent work, looking forward to the finished model. In addition to that, I can just quote this "wise guy":
  18. Hi Jonathan, good to see somebody making a start on this kit (which I have been waiting so long for). The body painting looks nice and I fully imagine that it's a hard thing to get those decals properly attached to the rear fender etc. Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more!
  19. I've always liked it aswell. The most beautiful part for me are the headlights, the same which have been used for the later Lambo Diablo vintages (after 2000). But what makes you say the car was "heavy"? Do you mean the actual weight, which was around 1500 kg, which I do not consider heavy for a fully equipped high-tech sportscar of the 90's...
  20. First of all, hats off! Your work is looking awesome and it's perfectly using the aftermarket parts. As regards the seats, you will find all kinds of images of several materials on the internet. The most popular being some kind of thinner cloth, I think. So I would rather stick to just painting the seats (no flocking). Btw, on some of your images the seats look as if they could use another layer of blue paint (or is it only an effect on the photos?). Keep up the excellent work!
  21. Nicely done, and a great choice of color! Much better in dark blue than the usual red! As regards the front end design, well, I think that Koenig's design has mostly aimed rather for optical distinction and aggressiveness than beauty. Personally I only fully like the Koenig Testarossa Competition and the Porsche 928 widebody. A matter of personal taste, as always...
  22. @Dann, Aurf & Rex. thanks for your kind feedback!
  23. Well, these "guidelines to success" have been properly selected and put together, Rob. There is a lot of truth to them, yet you have made them very entertaining. My favourite passage being: 8. Poor use of Bare Metal Foil. Nobody is an expert at this right off the bat. Like painting it takes a bit of practice. Get a ’58 Impala and get busy. By the time you finish it, you should be fairly competent with the stuff and in need of a drink. As I have just had my first "intense" experiences with applying BMF to a Jaguar XJ-S (it doesn't necessarily take the Impala, I can tell you), I know exactly what you mean. Also about that drink...
  24. Very nice build and a great paint job!
