I just filled up today and I watched a guy at pump #3 put $10.00 worth in. I couldn’t help but wonder where he was going……pump #4?

How do YOU decide what to build next?
NOBLNG replied to 64SS350's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Everything is in the queue in no particular order. I pick a few that I like and start them…some get stalled and others will jump the queue. Quite often it’s a glue bomb that gets to the front of the line. I can’t really predict what will inspire me until it happens.? -
Beautiful job on this one John!? That chrome really sparkles.

It turned out great I think.?

Very sharp looking build there Tim. It looks beautiful!?

We have been to a few restaurants that have the QR code taped to the table. We always ask for a printed menu and have always gotten one. If we ever get refused we will walk out!?
-
It really looks great!? I would have had a hard time choosing between those colours.

The interior looks fabulous and the weathering job on the undercarriage is well done.?

I sealed the foil on this Chevelle with Mr. Super Clear UV Cut gloss and then I added the decals. Then I read the can and it says it cannot be used over decals.? So I bought a can of the Revell gloss. It has a real nice shine to it and doesn’t harm the decals.? It has a nice spray pattern but it comes out like a firehose, so you have to spray from a distance. This is straight out of the can with no polishing.

I wouldn’t consider them SUVs because there really wasn’t any “sportiness” to them. -
Bought my first glue bomb. Need advice please.

Photo etch saws are great tools. They can get into places that other saws can’t. And they can make an extremely thin cut so there is no substantial material loss. This diff was glued together crooked and would not be pried apart without breaking. -

I would definitely love to have a first gen Scout kit like this!? From Jim Allen’s “Illustrated Buyers Guide Classic 4x4s. -

None of the early Jeepsters were 4wd. Only the second generation (‘66-‘73) Jeepsters and Commandos were 4wd. Depending on the definition of SUV, the Willys MB and CJs were likely first. -

That’s a glue bomb all right!? Nothing was painted, so depending on what type of glue and how much was used it could be a challenge getting it apart. I’ve been lucky on the last few I got since the parts were painted and then glued together without even scraping the paint or chrome away from the glue points. Good luck, it looks like a decent kit. -

I’ll follow along Gavin. This is a nice kit. Are those wheels cast or printed? -
What is this yellow primer?
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
After 4 hours in the alcohol most of the brown scrubbed off easily and some of the yellow. I’m thinking that this is just yellow paint now and not a primer at all. -
Well I managed to get the stripe decals on. WOW…what an ordeal! Me and decals don’t get along too well. This is the decal for the nose.? It curled up in a spiral that I couldn’t undo. Thankfully they also include the ‘70-‘72 style stripes, so I cut one of them up and made a new one for the nose out of four separate pieces. I cut the drivers side center stripe into three sections since I figured there was no way I could do it as one. The door section twisted on me again so I cut it in two and managed to salvage it. One of the pieces floated right up off the paper after only about 30 seconds in the water.? Maybe my water was a bit too warm?? The passenger side went better. I used cool water and managed to get the section on the door done in one piece.? I can’t risk putting that UV clear on now for sure! Thanks for Lookin’!

What is this yellow primer?
NOBLNG replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Trevor. I will be careful not to contaminate myself. If I can get just the brown paint off I’ll be happy. I have it soaking in alcohol right now. If that doesn’t do it then I’ll try the brake fluid. Thanks Dave. I don’t think it’s epoxy though. It’s a fairly thin coating. Just my guess.?♂️ -

I don’t know, but it is in the AMT ‘69 Riviera kit, and it only shows one piece, not the three pieces shown above.

This has been sitting in the purple pond for 3 days now. The Super Clean barely softened the brown paint that is on top of the yellow stuff. It almost looks like a “zinc chromate” primer? Straight tap water easily took off most of the brown paint on the interior that was not primed at all. Even a brass brush doesn’t easily harm the paint on the body though. Any Ideas? Thanks.
