  1. Thanks Greg It's a bit daunting, at first. Knowing that if you place it incorrectly, you won't get a second chance. However, as the mask is sort of transparent, lining it up with reference points, such as the hood centre and edges, is actually quite easy. I think I might have to tape some edges and tidy up a couple of places with the airbrush. I was considering brushing on some of the lilac, to cover the purple overspray, but I think masking and spraying will probably be a better idea. I would recommend these masks. So much easier than making your own. I gave everything a clearcoat, last night. I'm well pleased with the results. The paint now looks sparkly and the particles are nice and small.
  2. That’s excellent Ken It makes up for being the only one you built, this year ?
  3. Thanks everyone Hmmm... I don't know. I'm worried I might lose the clean edge. Also, the pinstripes would need to be extremely fine, to be in scale. could be done with tape, but I'm not sure it needs it. What colour do you think I should use, if I pinstripe the flames?
  4. Fantastic! I keep going back for another look
  5. Wow! You even got the jets in the carbs! Lovely work on that engine, buddy! Really nice ?

    Scion C10

I was expecting to see a coupe, or something. Not a pickup! A very crisp build. Never seen one before, so thanks for posting the photos ?
  7. That’s a sharp build! Nice foil work and very tidy, throughout.
  8. The chop looks great. Excellent wheel choice and is that a Winfield-inspired paint job? Very nice. Looks like a fist in a velvet glove. Equally cool and classy.

  10. I love this kit! You get so many build options. I channeled, chopped and z'd my rat 29. yours looks cool sitting at that height. Looking forward to seeing how it ends up.
  11. Nice engine! it looks more detailed, than the Revell one in the pink styrene, with the flared arches. Yours looks very realistic ?
  12. Thanks Maltsr I'm pleased with the symmetry I got when lining up the sides with the top ? I did the seats and door panels, while I was at it
  13. I've been itching to get home this evening and do the flames. They were relatively easy to apply. The only tricky bit, is lining up the two side panels, with the one on the hood. I think I could have got better adhesion from the mask, if I'd given the colour coat a bit of clear. The slightly grainy surface of the mica paint, made it difficult to get some of the edges to stick. Overall, I'm quite happy with the results. I'll need to touch-up a couple of spots, but it's nothing major.
  14. That colour came out well in the photos. I've had a few cars that look better to the eye, than a camera and that's no good when I'm posting them here! You got a nice finish on the clear, too. Looks like a buff-up is all it needs ?
  15. That has a menacing presence! I also like the black with the red wheels. maybe give the tyre treads a lick of matt black to knock down the shine? Just a suggestion..
  16. You must love the smell of bondo! Looks like a major project, but you obviously know your stuff ? Nice to see a lesser-known car being built.
  17. I sprayed the roof/rear section mica white, then added a drop or two of the purple I'm using for the flames. I got a nice lilac mauve pearl colour, which will contrast nicely, with the purple flames. I really wish I'd got an airbrush, years ago...I love it!
  18. Thanks chaps It's going to have either a Corvette or tube grille. I'll probably give it Bellflowers, skirts and Appletons. Mica white roof/trunk with purple flames on a lilac base (if I can mix the paint right!)
  19. Awesome work! Tremendous attention to detail. I like the way you came up with the louvres. Did you consider using 3D decals for the louvres? I have some by Archer and they're pretty good. Saves transplanting sections and mucking about with filler, etc.
  20. Hmm, the photos aren't uploading in the correct order... anyway, I also decided to give it a frenched antenna
  21. I gave the wheels a shot of black gloss, followed by AK Interactive chrome. The chrome paint dries really fast and 10 minutes later, I popped the tyres on.
  22. I've had this on my shelf for a couple of years, always planning to build it stock. But I found a flame mask I bought a while back and I've got an urge to try it out. I found some deep steel wheels, in my parts box and some nice tyres, too. I'm using the custom suspension included in the kit and I don't think I'll need to cut it about to get the ride height I'm after.
  23. Looks top-dollar. I like the reworked headlights. Chrome steels with bullet centres, would be good on this. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this.
  24. That looks like it's going to look great on your shelf, once it's done. I'm impressed by how shiny you got that clearcoat laid down. It looks wet!
  25. Looks great! Definitely looks like a 9 second car ?
