I have built a lot of Tamiya kits and really enjoyed this one. Yours turned out great and welcome to the club. Hope you try some more.

Nice pair Helmut, I am a big Ferrari fan and seeing these two in red always makes my day.
-
Thanks Kurt...the Aoshima came molded in blue so I had to use primer under the red. The Fujimi was molded in red and TS-8 comes out much brighter over red than white. I always avoid using primer whenever I can. Saves time and I get better results.

Been in a get something done mode lately and this one hit the spot. This is a fairly rare 1/20 scale kit by Aoshima of a Dino 246 GT. This car was made by Ferrari as most know but it is considered a Dino as there are no Ferrari badging to be found on the car. This was supposed to be a motorized and lighted model so there is no engine to speak of although the engine cover opens and there is a cast piece that sorta resembles an engine. Doors also open to reveal a rather sparse interior but I was surprised to see how well they fit for this older kit. Color is Tamiya TS-8 Italian red. More details in the captions. Thanks for looking and comments welcome. Finished model. Door actually closes better than that. Just got in a hurry when I took all the pictures. There was lots of detail at the back of this kit..all of it included in the kit. I modified the steering a little so it sit better and I could pose the wheels at not too sharp a turn. Dash and steering wheel were well detailed. I had to replace the glass in the doors as they were way too thick. An interesting comparison between my Fujimi 1/24 Dino and the 1/20 Aoshima. Both were painted Tamiya TS-8 although over different bases. The Fujimi was definetly a nicer kit and its from their Enthusiast series.

Couldn't wait to get this kit. I had already done the three liveries that came with the kit so I ordered the Andretti/Bianci version from IndyCals. Paint is Tamiya TS-55 Dark Blue. The fit and finish on this kit is amazing. But I will say this. the body fits together very well but I got complacent and didn't check fit it with the engine, firewall and dash in place. This caused me some problems at the end of this build. Other than that everything else fit very well (that includes the glass) . There is plenty of room for extra detail which I may add later since the rear deck comes off easily. And I did buy another one so I will be correcting some of the issues that I had on this one. See captions under the pictures for extra details. Comments welcome. Engine detail was amazing. I added spark plug wires. This was before the firewall and seats were added. Other side veiw of the engine. Those exhaust pipes looked and fit well. Color is Alclad burnt iron over copper. Had to do a little carving with moto tool fine bits to get it to look better. Finished kit on its wheels. Body had to be glued and clamped in place but there still is a little gap. 1/64 minature is a Tomy slot car body on a pull back chassis. rear view detail. PE screen came with the kit as well as the tire decals. Had to cut the rear hinge pins so the body would snap in place. Not real crazy with the ride height but it looks OK. going to fix that too on the next one. Mario Andretti and Lucien Bianci drove this car at Lemans in 1966. They only completed 92 laps before retiring.

Rex...tried to help Eric out and scrounged through my entire stash. Have lots of parts from IMC and Fujimi kits but not these. That instruction sheet looks suspiciously like the old Aurora kit now Monogram. I only had one of those and it is featured in this post..so no extra parts. He may be forced to scratchbuild. -

The Revival 35B was my first Revival and it is metal. All the ones I have done since are. I actually attempted this without the instructions but finally a plea to one of my internet groups provided me a set in PDF. Even so it was a struggle. I don't see the plastic ones often but I know they are out there. -

No problem Noel, Its about half diecast and half models. Centerpiece of the collection is the 1/20 Revival 35B. That was one tough kit to finish and very delicate too. Of course you have to have the two Monograms. Diecast are moslty Bburago and Maisto. Two kits to finish are the second pic. -

Tim...this might answer your question...its shows both the 1/24 case and the 1/20. There are about 20 of the 1/12 not shown. -

Noel...I AM a huge fan of big scale kits. I have over 50 1/12 projects yet to do and have some 20 already done. I made special cases just to hold some of the ones already done. There is room for a few more but not all. I have two 1/8 kits finished ( Pocher Ferrari's) I recently made two seperate cases for each of them and they are now displayed on top of my other cases. I needed the room in my Ferrari section (they took up one entire shelf) for many of the Ferrari projects left to do. I had both the Lotus and Mclaren 1/8 kits. The Mclaren was in mint condition and it got sold. My display area is in a constant state of change as I have to move things around for each project completed. And 1/8 scale is just too much changing. Thanks for the reply and by the way....I also have a Bugatti section. Like them cars too. -

Thanks for the update John. Everything you have done so far is spot on. I have the entire line of Tamiya bottle laquers (hobby shop owner is my best friend) but have not tried the semi black. I have gone through a lot of TS29 in my day so I spray a lot of this color. So the paint report is encouraging. -
