Applying Stickers - Not Decals But Stickers
Bills72sj replied to showrods's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The sticky portion from a Post-It note would work well for this. Very UNLIKELY it would bother the chrome. -
I am a big fan of two tone paint jobs whether contrasting or complimentary. I have the Fairlane 500, the Del Rio Ranch wagon, the Custom and the Ranchero Street Machine. I am following to see how yours comes together.

That sounds MUCH less messy. Where do you get the stuff?
-
I made my own with my inkjet printer and decal paper. I made the Rocket 455 decal too (transparent laid over BMF).

Decals and bare metal foil
Bills72sj replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As Steve stated. It is personal preference. I clear after decals and foil. That way they stay down with handling. Some solvent based clears can wrinkle decals. That is why my 69 ZL-1 has never been taken to a show.? -
Tips for 1:1 [Exhaust] Tips?

I have had those blue dot tail lights on two different Grand Prixs. I got them from JC Whitney mail order in the late 80's. The car in the pics has a scratch built LED array inside with 4 blue LEDs behind every blue dot. -
That turned out WAY COOL!. Did you use diodes for the fuel filters?
-
Very nicely done. Great color. I did not know you could get A/C on Six-pack engines. What are your ignition wire looms made from? Photo-etch?
-
I concur. The 69 Olds 442 chassis is an excellent piece for its level of detail.

Those door panels are D**n impressive. The fit, the finish the crispness. Amazing work. -

While I do have the 1994 release in my stash, I am glad to see it come out. Especially the big decal sheet. -
OK. I misunderstood you. You did not mean that there were only 3 choices total for a Grand Prix, just that there was only 3 recommended choices with Irish Mist paint.

That is a nice decal scheme. You could easily change it to 7up or Ginger Ale.
-
Good luck on your build. I have the Nicky kit to get to when I am in a Camaro mood.
-
Nice GP. I am slowly working on one as well. What kit did that intake come from? What was your technique to do the tail lights?
-
That is very nicely detailed. Almost makes me want to get one. I know I could not build one that nice any cheaper.

Amazing detail in progress. Your resilience in fixing boo boos is admirable. -
Ambitious conversion. Following.

Grinding Out Model Car Grills for more realistic look
Bills72sj replied to carl63_99's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I have the left 3 and the one on the right (my favorite). I use a modified Pana-vise with a very heavy base to hold my work for me. My dremel is a 110v variable speed unit. While I have yet to do a car grille, I did open up the vents on my Freightliners from the back side. -

Tips for 1:1 [Exhaust] Tips?
Bills72sj replied to Danno's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Mine is straight out the back, slightly past the bumper and slash cut. The tips are 4" diameter, 22" long and chrome plated. They are actually marketed for trucks. -
I have been driving and owning cars for 46 years. I cannot say I have ever had a bad one. I spent more time modifying them than I ever did fixing them. I have had my last Grand Prix for 24-25 years and my wife's Durango for 18 years. It pays to take care of and garage them. Weather seems to be the biggest car killer.
