Nice Vette! Thanks for the tip about the hood. One of these is planned for my next batch build.

Those wheels look sharp with that blue you selected. I made a 69 BOSS 429 awhile back. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/162587-1969-boss-429-makes-its-debut/page/2/

Nice pair!

Very nice. Is this a curbside kit?

Do you also have 1:1 project cars?
Bills72sj replied to ctruss53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was looking and seeing a SBC, truck tires and 2-wheel drive. What was throwing me off was the 4-link coil spring suspension. El Camino! -
I love the blower hat being higher than the roof.

My choice of words exactly.

I skip the the pins altogether. And simply glue the wheel backs to the chassis bits. I do not want mine to roll either and STANCE IS EVERYTHING.

New Pontiac Parts in Stock!

Ditto. I would like two bumpers if they fit better than the AMT ones AND 2 of the wings. -
The top 5 builds that you've done......
Bills72sj replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
My top 5 have yet to be built because my skillset has not finished growing by leaps and bounds thanks following top modelers like Steve G. -
I do not want to hi-jack Antonio's thread. I will PM you with pics.

Need recommendations for airbrush compressor.

You get WAY, WAY more life out of a bottle of CO2 because it compresses into a liquid with many many times more molecules then Nitrogen which is still just compressed gas. -

How do I know what Tamiya paint I have?
Bills72sj replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This car was painted with Testors bottle enamel thinned with Big Box store lacquer thinner. It is a 50/50 mix of #1106 Arctic Blue Metallic and #1539 Blue Metallic Flake. The Tamiya above is pretty but brighter blue. -

Do you ever have issues with moisture? I have CO2 available to me as well. -
Nice wheel choice. Bravo on the whole build.

spray paint and spruce bags
Bills72sj replied to Roy L Frost III's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I have used the bag trick whenever I am doing a two-tone paint job. I helps keep that sneaky 2nd color from getting around some missed tape layer. I used the technique to mask the Landau stripe on my 74 Hurst Olds. -
Enamel paint thinner question
Bills72sj replied to 10543Modeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have been doing 50/50 Testors bottle enamel and Big Box store lacquer thinner. My last 4 bodies have turned out nice and glossy without clear. It seems I may need to experiment with a "richer" mixture and see how that goes. -
Convertible cars with supports
Bills72sj replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I glue a thick sprue piece with CA to the roof right where a dome light would go. I then hold the body with an alligator clip on a bamboo stick. It permits spraying and viewing every square inch of the body without obstruction. A model box full of corrugated strips glued together holds the item while spraying other parts. When done, the sprue piece snaps off cleanly where I can the touch up with interior paint or make a dome light. -

That drawer set looks like an efficient way to access a LOT of stuff quickly. -
Testors square bottle paint quality
Bills72sj replied to ranma's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
My supply is a bout 50/50 of 20+ year old paints and new. What I have been finding with the new ones are that the caps are not fully tight. I suggest to every one to crank 'em tight. -

Thank you for taking us along on the journey. I have been amazed at most every step of the way. I have attempted some your techniques in my present WIPs. Thank you for the inspiration.
