  1. Great craftsmanship Daniel! That grille shell is sensational and the utilisation of that unknown product to me (Made-OF-Metal) is pure genius. This is what I love so much on this forum... sharing good tricks and it's a really good one! Can't wait to see it finished but take your time, every update is a treat!!!
  2. Hello again Greg! I will send you a personal mail so check your mailbox. Francis
  3. Good suggestion Raymond! There is certainly more than one way to make this part and I chosen to make the base plate (flange) as a separate part to avoid the tricky polishing to remove the marks (swril) made by the end mill. I trained myself as a hobby machinist so my way to make parts might be strange for an experienced machinist but my goal is to get the parts done and have fun to make them. Thanks for your visit and take care, Francis
  4. Hello Jim, I machined the oval shape on the milling and cut it on the lathe using the cut off tool blade. I sanded it flat and welded it on the 0.005" thick bottom shape. Hope this make sence to you... Thanks for the question, Francis
  5. Looks bad a... Kerry! Evil wicked mean and nasty... I love it!!!
  6. Thanks for the info Steven! eBay is an endless source of product... I'm on this auction site since 2002 and always surprised by the variety of items available!
  7. Super good job Steven! Where did you find these micro magnets? They might be useful for other applications too.
  8. Looks great Jim! I did uses Testor (Modelmaster) Lacquer as gloss coat for some of my models and I usually wait at least a week before polishing so it might need more time for their enamel version to harden enough to achieve the best possible result. At this stage we must convince yourself to be patient and don't rush and ruin a perfect paint job. The reflexion of the dollar bill on the body of your model car talk by itself my freind! Slow and steady win the race!!!
  9. Hello guys, Another small update today, I decided to make the timing chain cover from brass instead of aluminum to add color contrast. The part will be partially hidden behind the water pump housing and the engine damper but it will be still visible from under. I will continue next with the bellhousing and the transmission in order to make the final adjustments of the mechanical aspect of this build. Comments are welcome as usual so feel free to leave some! Take care, Francis Using a 1.000 inch brass rod I started the machining of the timing chain cover. I machined the ’’V’’ shape gutter like the real part even if this section will be hidden behind the water pump. I added a piece of brass tubing to simulate the crankshaft O'Ring housing. Final part made from 3 parts and welded by resistance. The base plate is 0.005" brass sheet that was manually usined. I drilled holes for the bolts as per the ones on the engine block.
  10. Hello Adam, welcome to the Model Cars Magazine Forum! The 3d printing technologie open the door for new and exiting possibilities so I will be happy to see you first post.
  11. I will keep an eye open so if I see something interesting I will contact you. Francis
  12. Hello Frank and welcome on board! I'm a drag cars lover and builder so I'm glad to see another member feeding my appetite for this!!!
  13. Hope you'll find one Pat! Base on what I've seen so far I'm pretty sure you will, you are a very good hunter... of engines of course! Keep doing your good work my freind!!!
  14. You're right Lorne, backyard mechanic but just 25 time smaller than the real thing... Every cut or file stroke progresses in the part 25 time faster too so we must be very carefull... But I'm pretty confident about your potentiel my friend!!! Eastern Habs
  15. I agree with others Steven, that's a very good idea and your model will be cool looking with the hood open at the next model show! I love it... well done!!!
  16. Hello Greg! Thanks for your kind comments on my builds, I really appreciate! I got some request from other members and other guys at model shows and I take this as a compliment but the major problem is the time required to make these parts. All these parts are made manually (no CNC) so it's time consuming and it's almost impossible to put a decent price on them. Feel free to send me a personal message because I'm very interrested by your project anyway (I built a '68 Dart LO23 Super Stock few years ago). Truly, Francis
  17. Nice job on the body/frame modifications! I'm a Mopar guy and I do love these old pro stock drag cars! Simply the best era of drag racing! Keep doing your good work sir!!!
  18. Very nice set-up Lorne! The front direction/suspension set-up looks fantastic along with this superb big block! I understand your situation regarding the oil pan adjustment... I was forced to do the same thing on my pickup (a couple of time...). Things like that happen often with high detailed build like your pick-up, that's not a box stock build... Keep doing your great work!!!
  19. That's a very nice build Brian! Seriously in one week... I'm floored... Hard to see but the weathering on the engine looks perfect! You have talent sir!!!
  20. Nice clean build Paul! Seem to be a very well detailed kit. Nice paint job too, I love these old Dodge!!!
  21. Thanks for the advices on the Molotow Jim! I was already aware that Molotow might be applied generously but I now have the confirmation from your experience. Glad to know that we can apply some protective clear coat on top. Alclad is still a good product but it must be handled with care (worn out easily). Thanks, Francis
  22. Thanks Kerry! Just another piece of the puzzle in the bunch to be made... I hope I will not have sand in the gear... lol. Take care, Francis Thanks Lorne! I still have plenty of ideas for the next ones to be made... no end in sight... lol. The progress of your 55 Chevy pickup is superb so far. Take care, Francis
  23. Fantastic build with obvious attention to detail and your fabricator background is an asset in this superb project. Keep on your good work Charles!!!
  24. It's great Jim! The staining effect looks pretty good to me. I bought some Molotow chrome ink few months ago but I didn't used it yet, it seem more resistant that Alclad, is it really the case? Did you applied the Molotow with an airbrush?
  25. Great scratch build model! Rare subject... I do love all these old Dodge (RAM) truck. I was exactly thinking to make one from scratch before I did start my '64 D100 project. Well done sir!!!
