What Pete said is a great explanation BUT, don't wet sand the acrylic craft paint. You can use super fine (#0000) steel wool. It's available at a lot of places (maybe WallyWorld, Hobby Lobby, Lowes, etc.).
I guess I'll be the first '57 Chevy "purist to say it....nope, (sorry) not a fan of the rear, but the rest of it looks cool. A lot of good work there Dennis.
Not good to hear about the BMF because just about all of us use it quite a lot. I bought the ultra chrome stuff and it's just not a good as the old school stuff. I think it's definately thinner.
Actually Bob, since it was one of my early builds after returning to the hobby, it was painted with Krylon rattle can gloss black and not even clear coated. I too use the Meguires Ultimate.
Sounds about right. It will polish out nicely. So far I have never sanded a finish. I just use a high quality medium polishing compound to level it then liquid finish polish, but that just me.
My Dad owned a '55 Belair 2dr Hdtp, a '55 150 2dr sedan a bought literally from a little old lady original owner, 2 ' 57 2 Dr Hdtps (one he gave my when I graduated HS in 1964) and a '57 Convertable he hated because the convertable top frames rattled and if drove him crazy. So I have a lot of Tri5 experience.
