Small update. The rear bumper needs to be “tucked in” a bit. On the real car, the bumper is flush with surrounding body. I will thin the bumper achieve this look. Photos before… And after… I will do a final cleanup after bumper is stripped, but it’s real close now. I did a bit more work on the spoiler. Added some thin styrene to the lower portion where it joins to the rear quarter. There was a bit too much of a gap for my liking. Still needs a bit more work but getting closer. Front spoiler glued on, but needs some re-shaping to allow attaching a splitter. As you can see, the spoiler is not flat across the bottom. I hope to tackle that tomorrow, more soon. Thanks for having a look, and comments always welcome.

Hi Andy, thanks for the kind words. Flares still need some love. I went cross eyed the other day, needed a break from that for a day or two… Slow but sure Anton. Thanks Kyle, great to have you on board. The real car is awesome, hoping I can do it justice. I do have a few liberties that I plan on taking. Thanks for chiming in! Yes, these cars have really grown on me the last 10 years or so. I always liked them, but REALLY like them now. A bit more massaging on the spoiler today. See below. Hi Joe! Sounds like there are lots of you guys with plans for this car. Looking forward to seeing everyone else’s take. Thanks for following along, hopefully it will be helpful for your future build. Cheers, Steve

Beautiful interior Joe, the Hot Rod magazine is a nice touch. The mats look sweet, I like the door lock knob addition, I have done this a few times myself. That steering wheel…. perfect. Cheers, Steve -
1990 Mustang LX - SVT Cobra DOHC Powered! UPDATE! 1/22/23
Steve H replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice progress Dennis, you made quick work of that. That stance looks like it will be almost identical to the 1:1. -
Hi Greg, sorry to hear of your paint issues, but you sure got it sorted out. The purple looks great on that, nice chop job too. I need to get some of that Zinnser bin, I’ve read good things about it. I’ll be watching as you finish this up, nice work as always. Cheers, Steve

This is progressing nicely Anton. No bad choice with your engines there. That turbo should get it moving along…

Another great build Greg. I always enjoy your WIP’s and love all the tips and tricks you share. Your contributions to this forum are much appreciated. Cheers, Steve -
Great looking body work, very creative build. Cheers, Steve

Hi guys, had a reasonable day at the desk. It was time to start playing with the rest of bodywork. I pulled the rear spoiler from Baldwin Motion issue. The rear spoiler needs some work. In my eye, it’s way too bulky, it’s also got some nasty sink marks. Hard to tell in the photo, but doesn’t conform to the lines of the trunk lid either. It still needs lots of work, but much better… Next up, the drip rails need to go… Not sure what to say about the headlight area, yikes!! I will tackle this and the rear bumper next. LOTS of fidelly stuff to do on the headlight area, not looking forward to it. The rear bumper mods should be easy. Thanks for having a look.

I appreciate the vote of confidence! Hi Jeff, thanks for checking in. Thanks for the kind words on the 300 too. Hey Luke, still some work to do on the fenders, but I think they should come out good . Hi Steve, yes indeed, I am a bit worried they won’t be even. Everything measures out good, and in this paint looks good by eye. Hopefully once it’s in final paint there isn’t any surprises…. You need to finish that Camaro! Looks great, would love to see your take on the same car. Bust it out! If I can do it, you definitely can do it Bill. Your Camaro is very impressive, thanks for sharing that. Thanks for your interest fellas.

Lots of great work here guys, this is a part of the forum I rarely visit. I’ll be back!

Luke! Awesome to see you back at the bench mate. This is great stuff indeed. I really admire those of you that scratch build your own chassis’s, maybe one day I’ll get there… Love the low! Purple body? I bought some seats from hobby design a while back, great product. Cheers, Steve
-
Hi Claude!! Awesome stuff as always sir. Another tasty mash up from the house of Claude. If memory serves me correct, there should be 3 more on the bench??… As you know I love your builds. BTW, that would look REALLY good here in beautiful Victoria at the duece days show in July, just sayin….. You may want to book a hotel. Cheers, Steve

Hi Mike, I’m still relatively new here and this is the first I’ve seen of this thread. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss sir. Stay well, and I too will follow along if you continue the build. It would indeed be a beautiful tribute. Cheers, Steve

Looking for ideas.

Hi Mike, maybe hugger orange and white for the GM? They also look great in red in my opinion. Metallic blue should look great on the Ford. -

Hayes Grey… that’s awesome David! I think you need to roll with that Roger. And not that I think for a moment you need advice on colour choices, but I think pearl clear over it will look wicked. Then it truly would be Hayes Grey! No matter your choice, it will look killer. Cheers, Steve -

Haha! Awesome stuff, ah the good Ol days… I agree Phil, the 348’s and 409’s really look cool. What are you putting yours in? Inquiring minds want to know. -
Hi Mike, great looking truck sir. That colour really shows all the curves of the body. Those wheels actually look really good on that! Just a thought on the hood issue, I assume it’s the air cleaner. I have done 2 different approaches, modify the carb or air cleaner to get them lower, or a grind/sand of the underside of the hood. Doesn’t look like you need much. Having said that, it looks great and you are the only one that will notice it, we’re all our own worst critics. Cheers, Steve

Hi fellas, a bit more progress. I have all 4 fender flares done, well…. not “finished” just roughed in. Lots of cleanup to do yet. When I started the cutting and shaping, I had plan “A”, with plan “B” on the back burner. Soooooo, plan A was hoping that once attached they would be “perfect”, then reality. The flares were much too flat for my liking. Problem was, I couldn’t really go higher up into the body as it would mess up chassis fitment, and I wanted the lips of the fenders at the height I attached them. So I cut some styrene sheet and added them on the tops of the flares. This will give the flares a little more slope, and look more like the real car. Same for the fronts… First shmeer of bondo… Yikes, that’s a mess. Don’t worry, I’ll clean it up! It’s premature for primer I know, but really needed to see what I had after round one. In the next photo you can see I also started on the “door handles” Here’s a screen shot showing the door handle, and some info on the car. I still have a lot of sand/fill/prime to do but I’m pleased with the overall shape now. I will do more clean up on the door handles too of course. Thanks for having a look, more soon!

Hi Phil. Yes, seeing your approach to the fenders made me think I can pull it off. Probably won’t be quite as nice as yours, but it should come our decent. Keith! Slow down!!…. Finished is a ways away…I’m slow. Seriously though, thanks for the encouragement, I am inspired to keep going on this one. Cheers, Steve

‘64 Chevy shop truck
Steve H replied to Steve H's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thank you Bob, the groceries would definitely still fit in with the cargo. Probably have to strap them down, I’ve heard the driver likes to open up the 409…? Thanks for the kind words Stephen! -
Hi David, I still have work to do on the flares but it’s a start, and all credit to Phil as far as the process. So much amazing talent on this forum to learn from. As for the ducts, I don’t think I will do the cooling ducts, but that may change. However, I might still open them up for air intakes to help the engine breath. If I do that, screens may be a good option as I have a suitable mesh I could use. As always, thanks for looking and contributing! Hi Joe! Yes, I have ALMOST perfect wheels for it, I will show photos at a later date. I’m playing with some wheel sleeves to have deep and deeper offsets. They would look good as is, but better with deeper O/S’s Francis! I know right, this car is stunning in my eyes. I will do my best to capture the look of real car. Thanks for checking !! Hello Misha. It is indeed a semi gloss paint. Apparently it was a “happy mistake” on the real car. The car can look quite different in different types of light. I played with a test colour quite a while back that turned out pretty close. I will do some more spoons to narrow down the recipe. The colour was used on my hearse curtains. Thanks for the words of encouragement, I’ll try not to disappoint! Hi Bob, yes, capturing the colour will be one of the keys to this project. Thanks for having a look. Hi Mike! Well, fabrication is NOT my strong point, I appreciate the vote of confidence though. I continue to learn from all of the talented builders like yourself on this board. Thanks for following along. Thanks Dennis, this one will challenge my skills a bit. Thank you all for taking the time to have a look and comment, it’s much appreciated. Cheers, Steve

Hi Joe! Well, I had somehow missed this one. Just got caught up. First, I hope all is well with you and your family, sorry to hear you have had some difficult times. It sounds like you have a good attitude about it and are on the upswing. Now the Mustang, what a fantastic looking build. Great details throughout on the engine, interior and chassis. You do beautiful work my friend, I’ll be watching as you finish this one up. -
