  1. Awesome stuff Gareth. Love the spare tire fix scenario. Excellent colour combo and detailing. I think I have that kit in my stash… hmmmmmm.?
  2. Wow, great progress Phil! I like the direction you took with this one. Would have been a hot ride to have back in high school!!
  3. Hey Luke! Thanks for following along. I’ll do a search for the sleeves, you haven’t led me astray yet… Just ordered my Glardon Vallorbe files a couple of days ago, Tamiya diamond file and Godhand sprue cutters on their way too! Hi Claude !! Yep…. I’ve been sanding. I’m close to having a decent update. Hope you are well sir, and keep thinking about Duece Days! I always appreciate you checking in. Thank you Carl. I appreciate your support. Hello Anton! How’s the weather?? Thanks for the input, I did consider going wider at the back. Great minds think alike! I opted for the slightly easier route. Should still have an aggressive enough look I hope. Wow! Thanks Jonathan. Thanks Chris, as mentioned above, I’m hoping for a decent update very soon. “Almost” done with all the fiddling…. Thanks a lot Dann! I appreciate the kind words. Love that matte black Lambo of yours sir…. Thank you Dennis, more soon. Thank you all for having a look and taking the time to comment. Cheers, Steve
  4. Beautiful build Dann, however, the flat black one really got my attention. Cheers, Steve
  5. Thank you Peter, I had missed that thread. Great info indeed. I’ve got my choices narrowed down somewhat now guys. It’s amazing how much more info you get doing a google search with specific tool name (Grobet, Freidrich Dick, etc.) rather than just “needle files” or sprue cutter. So thanks for sharing the names, as some of them I had not heard of. I very much appreciate the replies.
  6. It all starts with a plan Snake… Plan A, then B, C …..
  7. I’ll be watching for that one Snake. I love that Dobberton car, will you do the triple blowers? I plan on doing a pro street version in the future similar but not quite the same.
  8. What’s for dessert?
  9. Thanks for the info guys, I will do some more research now. Has anyone used the diamond files? Good quality or cheap?
  10. Hi Greg, I was hoping to hear from you, thanks for sharing. I’ve never had curved files, but I think they would be a good investment also. I use the same pictures to locate my files. True story… I have the exact Casio watch, no strap on my desk! It is probably about 25 years old, never had to change the battery, and keeps perfect time. I think I paid $14.95 for it. I’ll try to remember to send you a photo of it.
  11. Hi Les, thanks for sharing. My parents are both Glaswegians so I tend to tight with some things, but also don’t mind paying for top quality on some items. I try to put those decisions on a scale of “how much will I use it, is it actually a better product for the extra $$.
  12. Thanks Luke! I got my RP Toolz cutter a few days back and it’s awesome, so thanks for that. Based on that purchase I know that you have a thing for good quality tools. Thanks for the input, much appreciated sir.
  13. Hi all, I am about to refresh my needle files and sprue cutters. They have served me well but time for some fresh ones. The files are so old I can’t remember what brand they are. So… what are favourites?! I would be looking to get a set of 12 various shapes. God Hand spruce cutters? Thanks in advance for input. Cheers, Steve
  14. Hi Jerry, so sorry for your loss. Got a tear in my eye reading this. They become dear friends and lovable family members. Sounds like the two of had a lot of fun together, memories you can cherish.
  15. Looking good Greg. It will be interesting to watch this one evolve. Decisions, decisions….
  16. At long last, an update. I appropriated some headlights from an old glue bomb Chevelle. Filed and sanded to snug in the headlight openings. I will use the kit lenses over these. The wheels for this build are the make or break of the overall look. I’m not reinventing the wheel here, (Ha!) but I thought I would share how I got from A to B. sooooooo…. Started with some Aoshima wheels that are almost identical and already the perfect colour, bonus! However, I really want the deep and deeper offset. After a RIDICULOUSLY long search through the stash, I found a suitable donor for sleeves. (Unfortunately, the only blank sleeves I had on hand are from wheels that will be used soon) So I went out to my shop and used my poor man’s lathe (a drill) and removed the wheel backs. The new sleeves needed some thinning and finessing to fit. Then with the sleeve installed marked wheel to remove back. Then back to the poor man’s lathe to remove wheel back… I removed most of the outermost lip on the wheels so there was more surface to glue on the new sleeves. Painted the sleeves Tamiya semi gloss black. Then the moment of truth, attach sleeve to wheel… And a comparison to the 1:1 car… I’m very pleased with the results!! Exactly the look I was going for. I will do some cleanup and paint the back/inside of the wheels. Finally a quick mock!! Now I will figure out track width and start building. I have a lot of the chassis parts cleaned up and primed, and I’m close to having ride height sorted out. I’m also going to find a good source for wheel sleeves and order a bunch!! If anyone can suggest a good source it would be appreciated. Cheers, Steve
  17. Thanks Patrick! It was a beautiful morning. I could have done without the additional 8-10” we have had since then!!!
  18. Yes, and thank you very much. I like lightning up the place. We have had another 4” since and they are calling for about 3” more tonight.
  19. Anton my friend….Brrrrrrrrrrrr. Sounds cold up there! We are in a cold snap here, but probably balmy compared to up there. I hadn’t seen the Chevelle, I have one of those creeping closer to the top of my build list. Very nice job on it. The Supra is very tasty, nice work finishing it for the CBR. I’m really looking forward to seeing the truck done, you’ve done amazing work on it so far. All the best for 2022 sir. Cheers, Steve
  20. Oh ya Martin, that is super cool. Awesome idea. Building for friends, relatives, or loved ones is very rewarding. I’ve done builds for my dad, mom, and daughter, definitely some of my favourite projects. The “smoke” looks the part, and pepper for rubber flying is brilliant. Cheers, Steve
  21. Hello Claude! Man I love your creations. Your builds are among my favourites. Do you think we could talk you into doing a WIP sometime so we can see the creative process? Keep the builds coming sir. Happy holidays and all the best for 2022. Cheers, Steve
  22. My new RP Toolz cutter arrived!!
  23. I’m a little late but this was Christmas morning at my place. Happy holidays to all. Cheers, Steve
  24. Looks good Bill, excellent lighting at the bench. Is that a pro street Javelin on the hauler? Hard to tell with the black body and shadows. If it is, I must see it please!
