  1. Glad that several reminded about PVA, that glue is often forgotten. Vallejo liquid masking can also be used, it is required that there is a side free to be able to dry. The advantage is that it never gets really hard. I took over a friend's stalled project and he had successfully glued a couple of rims from the back into solid Monogram tires and they are secure. After that I have glued some pinned small parts from the inside of the body.
  2. One on the table, no more but four or five in progress. I sit at the same table that we eat all meals at and because of that I have to clean up several times during the day which I actually enjoy, sitting alone in my own room does not suit me. I have a cupboard behind me so it's not a big job to clear the table, another upside is that it's always close to the construction table.
  3. I once read an interview with Mr. Tamiya in the 80's where he said that the vehicles that Tamiya chooses to make have something unique something that challenges. Whether the vehicle is popular in 1:1 did not seem to be that important actually.
  4. It's a nice thread, Monogram's kit really deserves some more love. Some 80s are great, some 70s are charming.
  5. Wonderful, an incredibly difficult kit but the reward is a model with both the right lines and the ”right” parts, the best Harley (chopper) kit.
  6. I agree, what if any company say like Moebius could make them like Monogram did.
  7. I differ greatly in that I was 36 years old when I finally bought my first own car but then it was all the more fun.
  8. I have finally found a pipe in suitable plastic for the tank, 45 mm or 1 49/64 was not easy to find. Yesterday I got a shot from the hip and realize that I have to widen the box a bit, I have not taken any measurements on the truck that inspired me but consistently relied on my eye measurement.
  9. Better late than never, thank you. It’s clearly a very worthwhile exhibition, the venue is really far beyond the ordinary. I want to remember that the house was built (1900) to one day become Sweden's first car factory but that did not happen.
  10. Let's hope there won't be a blockage in the sewer for a few weeks, months maybe considering how slowly I'm building...
  11. Milliput is an incredibly good filler, just be careful not to do what I did. After a very late night of construction, I fell asleep with Milliput under my nails, the pain in the nail bed from the hardened sharp putty chemically bonded to the nail tormented me for a week.
  12. Incredibly nice cars, this one is my favorite. Hot Rods that border on sports car always touch me a little extra.
  13. I'm trying to put the puzzle together from pictures I've taken, Revells Ford Raptor is a great kit snap or not but it would have been easier for me if they made the F350 🙂, the sewage cleaning unit is so odd though so I'm left to my own devices.
  14. Thank you very much for sharing these nice pictures and your knowledge, I myself have turned and turned on the coupe body and wondered if I would be able to build a 30/31 roadster, in allés as always, "Every great project requires parts from a kit you do not own or does not exist.”
  15. Unfortunately I was prevented from going to this amazing show the other week even though it is usually (our)walking way(2x2 h) but Youtube at least gives some comfort. The venue with very advanced lighting and the surrounding environment is uniquely beautiful. The exhibition was partly retrospective with a more than sixty-year perspective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-ws7DaiZzQ As it should be, there was a model car exhibition, a dealer and even there the retrospective was partly included, a few years later he built his 32 in the same style. Overall, just as car shows should be and as they were when we were kids.
  16. I am a bit locked in that I can only build and not paint, partly because I broke my ankle in January. No worries because building is fun. Sewer cleaning and plumbing clearly appeal to me.
  17. WOW, it has been great to follow your build and it really turned out great. Now I also have a Fisher 12 port head motor to look at when I get started again with my project.
  18. Oh my, how I have longed for this.
  19. Although you ask about CA glue, I can't help but recommend my favorite glue, Revell Contacta Professional Glue. If the glue dries at the end of the needle, you burn off the plug with a match. Why this glue before CA ? I use CA glue very sparingly nowadays. CA glue ages on the building table which made me frustrated, it use to reminded me that I did not have time to build... Some people get allergic to CA glue and when you get affected it is forever and with it other chemicals. My wife and her colleagues sometimes used CA glue and some of them have told me about this and the paradox that it was originally a medical glue but now doctors avoid using it.
  20. This goes a long way, that's a big part of the charm of this hobby, I prefer gray cutting mat(cutting mat is really not necessary but I brought it for the sake of color). The yellow tape is Tamiyas which unlike other types of tape can be removed after days weeks. For gluing transparent plastic parts, windshield, headlights you shouldn't use the plastic glue but I didn't have any near me tonight. Tops(lots of) is great when something goes wrong.. I agree with DanL and Bainford's advice on Monogram.
  21. I have removed a small(old) glue spot on a windshield with MENG's diamond file actually. I had no polish or so where I was but it turned out very well actually. The windshield was convex so I could file without the edges of the file touching. A friend has said that he will try to file off the ”reading glasses” in an old Jo-Han windshield, maybe it will be another new level (his builder are very nice).
  22. One day it will be something completely different, but today I have at least cut. Styrene surgery is not easy but operating in these new kits that are similar on both sides, both shape and thickness makes it much easier than old kits.
  23. Ok, if you or anyone else feels like it, let me know. 24H, Brush painting and preferably a AMT Craftsman kit.
