1949 Ford Four-Door Custom - Under Glass - Dec 22/22
Pierre Rivard replied to Phildaupho's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Scratchbuilding Extraordinaire sir. Bravo! -
Welcome to the group Andy. Your models are beautiful.

Thanks Mark. I started with a standard sized air filter but could not quite clear the hood despite my best efforts to get the engine low in chassis. The 9 in. filter benefits the hood opening I carved for the hood scoop. I'm doing csx2196 Sebring spec (The Turd) which was a leaf spring car with a H&M 427 thrown in and pretty rough fender flares to widen the track. The one you want to do is the heavily re-engineered csx 2196 in Nassau specs with the clamshell front and rear bodywork (Flip Flop). BIG challenge, perfect for you!

2003 Bentley Speed 8

Impeccable detailing of the dash. It's a shame it will be hard to see through the limited side glass opening. -
Joe Weatherly Mercury

Very very nice model Tony. I think the 64 Mercury stock cars looked formidable and you rendered the look perfectly. -
Andy, you make the hard stuff look easy. Well done. Allow me to insert an update on entry #1. The build is moving well and fast (for me) Engine and chassis are all done. For the engine I grafted the Cobra kit's trans to a Polar Lights 427 and built up missing elements from spares (overflow tank, fuel pump and added a variety of aftermarket parts. Oil filter, breathers, carb and air filter from Protech, Connkur distributor, Parts by Parks accessory drive and VGC resin headers modified to a vertical outlet. Chassis is pretty OOB with exception of mods to fit the bigger engine, scratch building shock absorbers and substituting kit wheels & tires with HRM components. I scratch built exhaust pipes with 3.2 mm Evergreen rod and tube material.

Travail magnifique Thierry, Always inspirational and a bit intimidating looking at your craftsmanship. I just spent hours reviewing your Moss SLR w.i.p. on BritM because I want to learn before I tackle mine (thinking to do a Fangio conversion). If I can achieve 10% of your detailing magic I will be very happy! Thank you for sharing your work.

2022 Nextgen Camaro
Pierre Rivard replied to MarkJ's topic in WIP: Stock Cars (NASCAR, Super Stock, Late Model, etc.)
Cobra csx2196, the photo 427. Posting on Sebring 64 group build (pages 11-12) in the w.i.p. other section. I know nothing about the new NASCAR so your build has been a good learning. Seems like a decent kit. -

Paint looks good my friend. You can do black you can do anything! This is much harder than the little light blue thing I'm working on at the moment... -
Superb looking 250 SWB! Nice to see a different type of red on a Ferrari. I wish I could build one of these but they are so rare. Thank you for sharing your w.i.p.

Tamiya Pennzoil Nissan GT R34
Pierre Rivard replied to Paul Waymouth's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
This is really nice Paul. Always great to see one of your models sitting in your awesome shop. The Pennzoil livery gives this modern racer a bit of a classic vibe. Very sharp! -
I said I would put a driver figurine in entry #1. Easier said than done. I had a figurine of unknown origin in my spares but it was far from an easy fit in the small Cobra cockpit. After a lot of cutting and reshaping of limbs here it is. Took 2 days but here it is. I think if I pull it off at the painting stage it will add to the build. Something I really want to repeat on future builds If I can find a source for more figurines. Anybody know the color go the great Ken Miles' racing suit at Sebring in 64? Thinking off-white or powder blue....not sure.

Very nice Tony. Beautiful build! -
Your efforts really paid off. Such a wonderful way to do a model. Not just a model but re-creating a scene during the race. 9 tire changes...ouch!
